Hey Dallas: Gallery Bomb Grand Opening!

by NapkinArt on Aug 11th, 2011

There is no such thing as ‘too much of a good thing’ when it comes to art.

Dallas’ newest art gallery, Gallery Bomb, kicks off its first-ever art exhibit with “Sugar Coated Memories by Dallas artist Loretta Gonzales on Saturday, August 13th from 6-9pm. The Pop-Surrealist showcases numerous paintings immersed in odd fairy tale splendor juxtaposed with muted hand-painted and stenciled snapshots of ordinary and mundane family life.

Gallery owner Brandon Sellers looks to capitalize on Dallas’ growing demand for Pop, Street, Lowbrow and Surrealistic art with his new and intimate art space. Located in the thriving area of Kessler X+ in historic North Oak Cliff, Gallery Bomb is sure to be a hit with art fans and collectors in the coming months and years. 407A Tyler Street – Dallas, TX 75208. www.gallerybomb.com.

And while you are in the neighborhood, be sure to stick around for the Tyler Davis Block Party from 4-10pm. Make lots of new friends, have some complimentary beverages and snacks, and see first hand what makes this Oak Cliff neighborhood a real treasure of Dallas!

Weekend Events in the Metroplex Take 2

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 10th, 2010

At the Inwood theatre in Dallas this weekend, the midnight showing will be “Xanadu”.  The showing will be Friday and Saturday night at midnight.  Maybe you can sing a long with the movie.  Inwood theatre is on Lovers Ln. and Inwood Rd. in Dallas.

One of the better bands of this decade will be opening up for Dave Matthews Band on September 11 at Coca Cola Starplex or now known as Super Pages.com Center.  (Fuck I hate that name.)  If you have not heard Black Joe Lewis, head HERE and listen and get their album.  See them if you get a chance.

This Friday and Sunday at the Ballpark in Arlington, The Texas Rangers will be playing the New York Yankees.  Friday’s game starts at 6:05pm and Sunday’s game starts at 1:05pm.  Hot Dogs, Beer, Rangers, and the Yankees seems like an excellent time.

This barbecue competition and street festival debuts in Oak Cliff on Sunday the 12th with a nod to famous people who had ties to the Cliff, including bluesmen T-Bone Walker and Stevie Ray Vaughan and outlaws Bonnie and Clyde. The event will include live music and an art show.  One of my good friends Kevin Johns will be competing in the BBQ chicken tournament. Vote for HIM!  Click HERE for more info.

Beginning Sunday, September 12, Central 214 at the Hotel Palomar of 75 and Mockingbird will feature a different Will Ferrell movie each week. Seated on one of the chic outdoor couches in the courtyard with crab stuffed mushroom and your favorite cocktail in hand, you can do nothing but leave lighthearted to prepare for your busy week ahead.

The flicks begin at dusk (After 8 p.m.) each Sunday.  This Sunday will be Old  School.
