It’s just about here, folks. Stephen Merchant’s upcoming comedy series for HBO now has its first trailer, and it looks hilarious. As we’ve previously reported, Merchant plays an awkward Englishman looking for love in Los Angeles. The show will debut on September 29 and this little trailer shows Merchant and Nate Torrence trying to talk to ladies in a club in the city. The results are satisfying.

Hi, Bryan Here….

much-ado-about-nothing_612x907

Joss Whedon has taken off his brown coat and hung up his Avengers costumes for the time being and has given us a laugh-out-loud and fresh telling of Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing‘. With amazing characters, comedy at every turn, and an excellent eye for direction, Whedon pulls off this amazing tale with grace and fun, and is different enough to stand on its own from Kenneth Branagh’s version from twenty years ago. I imagine that fans of ‘Firefly‘, ‘Buffy‘, and ‘The Avengers‘ will be first in line this weekend to support their hero Whedon, but I also expect this to gain a bigger following with a wider audience, making a decent theatrical return.

Hi, Bryan Here….

girl-friend-articleLarge

I have been a fan of Birbiglia’s for a while now.  I loved his spots and stories on NPR’sThis American Life‘ where he talked about his comedy and his rare sleep disorder, which causes him to physically act out his dreams. And I loved his recent film ‘Sleepwalk With Me‘, which is based on a segment of his life, particularly his college girlfriend and his entrance to the comedy world. Seeing Birbiglia live was not only one of the funniest and most entertaining shows I’ve seen (and I’ve seen the some of the greats; Carlin, Chappelle, Saget, Dunham, Louis C.K.), it’s an incredible experience, full of laughs, awkward memories, and romance.  I wish I could buy a ticket for every person on Earth to see Mike Birbiglia live.

Bryan’s Review of ‘Sleepwalk With Me’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 10th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

‘Sleepwalk With Me’ is the sleeper hit of the year.  Back a few years ago,  genius comedian Mike Birbiglia added a long monologue to his stand-up comedy routine called ‘Sleepwalk With Me’. In it, he talks about his real-life sleeping disorder called REM Behavior Disorder where he literally acts out his dreams.  Sometimes, they have serious and painful consequences.  In ‘Sleepwalk With Me’, Birbiglia takes his story a bit further as he plays himself with a different name.  He plays Matt Pandamiglio, a rookie stand-up comedian in New York who has been with his girlfriend Abby (Lauren Ambrose) going on almost a decade now.  As his comedy career starts to take off, Matt struggles with committing to Abby.  ’Sleepwalk With Me’ is not only warm, inviting, and charming, but it’s one of the funniest films of the year.

Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase Are Working On A Comedy?!?!?

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 20th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Dan Aykroyd took to his Facebook page today and said, “Chevy (Chase) and I are about to start work on a script concept for a comedy movie. Cannot say too much about the concept, but the joy of working with him again is one that I am extremely excited about. Chevy is one of my favourite people, and one of the great anarchistic and physically committed comedians in the business.”  Could this be a new epic comedy from two of the funniest people around?
