Blu-Ray Review: ‘Seven Psychopaths’!!!
by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 8th, 2013Hi, Bryan Here….
Martin McDonagh’s ‘Seven Psychopaths’ is highly entertaining. I was a huge fan of McDonagh’s ‘In Bruges’ and have since then been wanting more from him. It’s been four years since ‘In Bruges’, which was the last thing McDonagh did, and I can safely say that McDonagh’s writing and directing has only gotten better. McDonagh is the next Tarantino and ’Seven Psychopaths’ is an excellent film.
Blu-Ray Review: ‘The Perks of Being A Wallfllower’!!
by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 8th, 2013Hi, Bryan Here….
‘The Perks of Being A Wallflower’ is hands down one of my favorite films of the year. I haven’t seen such a genuine coming of age high school movie since the late John Hughes was making his films about being a teenager. Director and writer Stephen Chbosky hit a home run with ’The Perks of Being A Wallflower’. I haven’t fallen in love with characters like this since HBO’s ‘Six Feet Under’ was on television. I did not want this film to end.
Blu-Ray Review: ‘Flight’!!!
by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 8th, 2013Hi, Bryan Here….
‘Flight‘ is a huge and very warm welcome back for director Robert Zemeckis, who for more than a decade now has been making animated motion capture films including ‘A Christmas Carol‘ and ‘The Polar Express‘. With ‘Flight‘, he is back where he belongs, with big stars and big set pieces. I’ve really missed Zemeckis’s work over the last decade in the live action arena. Zemeckis directed the ‘Back to the Future‘ films and ‘Forest Gump‘ to name a couple. And now, with ‘Flight‘, Zemeckis has proven that he has not lost his touch in any way as this film provides amazing and heartfelt characters, one of the most thrilling plane crashes ever filmed, and beautiful photography.
Blu-Ray Review: ”Life of Pi’!!!
by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 8th, 2013Hi, Bryan Here….
Ang Lee’s vision of Yann Martel’s 2001 novel, ‘Life of Pi’ is one of the most visually beautiful films I have seen in a long time. If this film was made back when the book came out, which was over ten years ago, the movie would not have been as beautiful as it was today, due to the technology advancements we’ve had in just ten short years. ’Life of Pi’ is one of the better 3D productions I have seen and if you choose to see this movie, see it in 3D. ’Life of Pi’ will appeal to all audiences and you will find yourself falling in love with Pi and a majestic Bengal tiger, even if ’Life of Pi’ is good for only one or two viewings.
Blu-Ray Review: ‘Pawn’
by Gumbercules9000 on May 6th, 2013Hi, Bryan Here….
I had a lot of fun with ‘Pawn’. This is one of those instances where you are perusing movies online or at your local video rental place where you come across a film you’ve never heard of, but see tons of A-list actors on the front cover. And when we decide to purchase or rent based only on the cover, we usually have a 50/50 shot of really enjoying the flick. Most of the time, these particular films have a low budget and suffer from a wide range of problems. Sometimes the budget is too small to create a decent story and locations, and other times it’s bad filming. With ‘Pawn’, everything tends to work here and is a fun film that deserved a bigger audience.
Disney Announces Unaltered Original ‘Star Wars’ Trilogy on Blu-Ray!!!
by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 31st, 2013Hi, Bryan Here….
Since Disney now has all the rights to George Lucas‘ work under Lucas pictures, which includes the epic ‘Star Wars‘ franchise, they are fast tracking tons of ‘Star Wars‘ projects for future releases. We all know that J.J. Abrams will be directing Episode VII and actually has Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher returning to reprise their roles for the sequels. Even better news, Disney is finally listening to the fans, something Lucas never did, and are finally releasing the original trilogy on blu-ray in their original and unaltered versions as they were seen over 30 years ago.
Blu-Ray Review: ‘Wreck It Ralph’!!!
by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 5th, 2013Hi, Bryan Here….
‘Wreck-It Ralph‘ is one hell of a fun and entertaining movie. Not only will the little kids enjoy this, but adults will eat this up too. Disney has done a a great job with their 3D animated comedy to start the holiday season. The amazing voice cast, the video game references, the characters and storyline can all compete with the likes of any Pixar film. Well, I guess you can get a phenomenal film when you have John Lasseter executive produce and Rich Moore direct. Moore has directed tons of episodes of ‘The Simpsons’ and just about every episode of ‘Futurama’, so you know this will be a funny and intelligent film done right.

Blu-Ray Review: ‘The Dark Knight Rises’!!!
by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 16th, 2013Hi, Bryan Here…..
Christopher Nolan’s third and final installment of his Batman franchise ranks as the best film in the series. That’s difficult for me to say, as the first two films were so amazing. Even with Heath Ledger’s iconic and eternal role as the Joker in the previous film, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ far surpasses anything my imagination could have hoped for in film. Movies do not get better than ’The Dark Knight Rises’.
Blu-Ray Review: ‘Ted’!!!
by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 16th, 2013Hi, Bryan Here…
‘Ted’ is hilariously funny. I didn’t expect it to be as humorous as it was, but I busted a gut from start to finish. I’m not a huge ‘Family Guy’ fan. so I admit, I was a bit apprehensive to watch a feature film written and directed by Seth MacFarlane. I was quite surprised as to how warm and witty it was. After the first 15 minutes or so of seeing an animated teddy-bear come to life, I really didn’t see it as a teddy-bear, but rather an actual person. MacFarlane captured a genuine and heartwarming film with an ultra raunchy and vulgar kick at every turn.
