We have all been hearing about a movie called ‘Prometheus’ for sometime now, and all of us fans have been trying to piece the puzzle together on what it has to do with Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien’ film.  Since Scott directed ‘Prometheus’ and the original ‘Alien’ film, there has to be some sort of connection from what we have seen from the trailers, right?  The filmmakers told us that ’Prometheus’ would be a prequel to the ‘Alien’ film.  After seeing ’Prometheus’, I can say that it’s a very early prequel.  I’m  certainly happy Scott returned to this universe, because the ‘Alien’ franchise has been in a state of decay for a number of years starting with the 4th installment and then onto the ‘Alien vs. Predator’ series.  So, I was truly hoping to get an original film, but with strong ties to the ‘Alien’ franchise.  The question is, did it work?

Hi, Bryan and Lisa S. Here…..

Now let’s get to the list.  Here are Boomstick’s top 20 Female Badasses in film and television.  I tried to keep it in the horror/sci-fi genre, but a couple of action stars made it in there.  These females are the most hardcore we feel, by how much ass they kick, their courage, and their sex appeal.  We dare you to find better role models and badasses than this.  Enjoy the list.

Hi, Bryan Here….

That’s right, folks.  ’E.T.’ will be on the big screen again, thanks to Turner Classic Movies and Fathom Events.  Screening will take place October 3rd at 7:00pm at select theaters across the country.  This marks the 30th anniversary of the film and most likely is geared to promote the new blu-ray coming out as well.  This was one of the first films I saw in the theater and it just blew my mind.  It was one of the first times my Dad and I bonded over a film.  Needless to say it holds a special place in my heart.  Not only will you get a newly remastered version of the film, but also a journey of the making of ‘E.T.’.  And yes, folks, this is this original film, not the version with the extra scenes or the CGI’d walkie-talkie replacements.  Spielberg acknowledged his fuck-up long ago and apologized.  The same can’t be said for Lucas.  I’m super excited about this and hope all of you can make it and take your kids to see this on the big screen.  Official press release below.

Hi, Bryan Here….

I was excited to see ‘The Watch’ when I sat in my theater chair.  I’m a fan of Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and Richard Ayoade.  And I thought the premise of the film was going to be a lot of fun as well, mixing a vulgar humor guy comedy film with a full scale alien invasion.  It sounds good on paper with that plot and cast.  Unfortunately, Hill, Stiller, and Vaughn play the same character they have played in their last seven movies.  The script is lethargic throughout the entire film with the exception of a few lines of dialogue that I suspect was improv.  And that feels weird to say since the script was credited to Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Jared Stern.  While ‘The Watch’ has a decent premise and stellar cast, the mark is missed by a good 1000 yards.

TNT has ordered a third season of its epic original series Falling Skies, from DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg. The critically acclaimed drama starring Noah Wyle finished its first season last year as basic cable’s top new series of 2011. Currently averaging 5.9 million viewers, the series ranks as basic cable’s #1 summer drama with adults 18-49. TNT has ordered 10 episodes Falling Skies’ third season, slated to air in 2013.

Hi, Bryan Here….

I didn’t quite know what to expect from Nacho Vigalondo’s ‘Extraterrestrial’, but I was pleasantly surprised with the results.  ‘Extraterrestrial’ is a romantic comedy with an ‘Independence Day’-sized alien invasion.  That’s the best way I can describe the film.  Over its ninety-minute run time, we enjoy the whimsy and follies of a budding new romance, while hundreds of UFO’S enter Earth’s atmosphere.  ‘Extraterrestrial’ will make you laugh and warm your heart until the next impending alien invasion.
