Here is our 32nd episode of ‘The Multi-Media Men‘, and we are back from a two week hiatus from covering the Dallas Film Festival.  We recorded this 32nd podcast on Easter Sunday morning in Dallas, TX, and were missing a couple of regulars. However, we were joined by Susan Kamyab of ‘This Chix Flix‘ and ‘Irving Community Television‘ this weekend and she made an excellent addition to the podcast. The 44th Annual USA Film Festival Has Started!!

Good news, everyone. The 44th Annual USA Film Festival has officially started and will run through April 27th. There are tons of great films to see and some A-List actors, directors, and writers to meet. All films will be shown at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas at Mockingbird Station and tickets can be bought through Ticketmaster for the events. Some of the excellent guests include John Turturro, Ed Harris, Carol Kane, and much much more. Below is some information on some of the events and films you can see and partake in. Stage Review: ‘Once’!!

I was fortunate enough to see the Broadway tour of ‘Once’. This show was a little different than other Broadway shows I’ve seen in several ways. I love live music. Always have, always will. ‘Once’ gave the viewer an amazing performance by featuring actors who were also musicians. They not only sang the hauntingly beautiful songs this show is known for, but they played instruments at the same time. There was no gaggle of musicians in the orchestra pit, the actors were the orchestra, some playing as many as 4-5 instruments overall.

Texas FrightMare Weekend is almost here, and it looks like it will be the biggest horror convention yeet, packed with tons of horror movie actors, actresses, and directors from your favorite scary movies. You’ll be able to meet the legendary zombie director ‘George Romero‘, Linda Hamilton, and a ‘Terminator‘ reunion minus Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron. Plus, you’ll be able to watch the original ‘Dawn of the Dead‘ with George Romero himself. How cool is that. Record Store Day 2014 Releases!!!

Record Store Day is coming up April 19th and looks to be insane.  We scored an early product list for Record Store Day detailing every release on April 21st including how rare each release is and prices.  There will be tons of limited releases, new releases,and classic records sold throughout the entire day.  A few releases include: The Allman Bros., Notorious BIG, Bruce Springsteen, Otis Redding, the soundtracks for ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘The Muppet Movie’, ‘Aerosmith’, David Bowie, The Animals, Frank Zappa, and Devo. It’s going to be amazing.

South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin is known for being the cool place to be for music, movies, and tech every March. And it’s now starting to branch out into the art scene.  For last 2 years Mondo Gallery, a collectible art boutique with a rabid fan base and part of the uber popular Alamo Drafthouse, has had gallery openings during SXSW with lines of buyers, stretching for blocks, waiting for hours, and in some cases, days.

The Dallas International Film Festival for 2014 has just announced its full lineup of movies. Last week, we brought you the first ten films that were announced, and if that was any clue on how cool the movies will be this year, it only gets better. It looks like there are some amazing selections this year, films that I’ve been hearing about for quite some time, and am glad to have them in Dallas. April 3rd is exactly one month away, and that means it is time for the next Dallas International Film Festival (DIFF) to invade Dallas. The festival will start on April 3rd and run through April 13th at a variety of theaters in the Dallas area. There will be around 150 films from all over the world premiering in Dallas. Some will even be world premieres. Actors, writers, producers, and directors will be in town for the event as well. And of course, you can buy tickets to attend the festival or any movie you want to see. DIFF has just announced the first ten films that will be coming to this year’s festival, and they look AMAZING.
