Star Wars Episode IX does NOT have a director anymore!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 5th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Wait, what? This shit again? Seriously, those Star Wars execs, including Kathleen Kennedy need to get their shit together, because this is the 2nd time in a couple of months this has happened. Back in June, Chris Miller and Phil Lord were let go from the Han Solo spin-off movie mid-way through the shoot for bullshit reasons. They brought on the capable, yet safe director of Ron Howard to finish the job. At least Episode IX wasn’t in full on production yet, but we did know that Colin Trevorrow was set to direct after his huge success on Jurassic World. That is not the case anymore. Trevorrow is out of the director’s seat, leaving Disney and Lucas Film to  find another filmmaker.

Ron Howard Shoots Second on Star Wars Han Solo Film!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 22nd, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

960

It’s official now. Ron Howard has taken over directing duties on the upcoming Star Wars untitled Han Solo spinoff movie. Yesterday, we got the unfortunate news that Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired after creative differences with the studio heads, mainly Kathleen Kennedy and Lawrence Kasdan on the tone of the film. Lord and Miller (The LEGO Movie, 21 Jump Street) spent almost five months making this Han Solo film, but again, were fired for having a different style than what the studio was expecting. It sent fans in an uproar for sure and for good reason. It’s ultra rare that studios will fire directors this late in the game.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 3rd, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Screen Shot 2017-04-03 at 3.40.14 PM

THE FILM

Since the release of ‘The Force Awakens‘, Disney will be releasing a ‘Star Wars‘ film every year for the foreseeable future. Well, it’s been a year since ‘The Force Awakens‘, which means it’s time for another ‘Star Wars‘ film, and luckily for us, we get ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘. I’m so glad that Disney is allowing up and coming, young  filmmakers a chance to have a go at ‘Star Wars‘, because director Gareth Edwards (‘Monsters‘ and ‘Godzilla‘) has knocked it out of the park, even though there were some re-shoots with writer Tony Gilroy (‘Michael Clayton‘ and ‘The Bourne‘ films). This is the ‘Star Wars‘ film we have wanted for a long time, in that we get to see some characters do some truly amazing and badass things that we’ve never seen before, and a return to some of those classic set pieces and ships.

Bryan’s Review of ‘The Bourne Legacy’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 10th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here…

Let me start off by saying that I love the first three “Bourne” films.  I have owned them multiple times and on multiple formats, the latest one being the out-of -print bluray set.  Those three previous films were sort of milestones in filmmaking that took us on different continents and developed a new faster paced action film, that was brutal yet beautiful.  This new film, ‘The Bourne Legacy’, sadly does not have any of that.  I found ‘The Bourne Legacy’ slow-moving, weak, and un-interesting.

Check Out the Trailer for ‘The Bourne Legacy’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 9th, 2012

Hi Bryan Here…

This trailer looks good.  Sorry no Matt Damon, but Jeremy Renner looks like he has taken the Bourne role nicely.  “The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: The Bourne Legacy. The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films. For The Bourne Legacy, Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles.”  Enjoy the trailer.

The Bourne Legacy Has Its Lead Actor!!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 25th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

As we previously reported HERE, Matt Damon will not be returning to the Bourne franchise nor will director Paul Greengrass who directed the last two films.  Because of this, there will be “The Bourne Legacy” with Tony Gilroy attached to direct.  Tony Gilroy has been involved writing the last three Bourne films.

Since we found out  Tony Gilroy would be directing and writing The Bourne Legacy, were were wondering if Matt Damon would return as the hero Jason Bourne since he was quoted as saying in interviews that he would only make another Bourne film if Paul Greengrass would return to direct.

Gilroy was interviewed the other day and he said:

“It’s a completely original screenplay….This is not a reboot or a recast or a prequel. No one’s replacing Matt Damon. There will be a whole new hero, a whole new chapter…this is a stand-alone project.”

“The easiest way to think of it is an expansion or a reveal…Jason Bourne will not be in this film, but he’s very much alive. What happened in the first three films is the trigger for what happens. I’m building a legend and an environment and a wider conspiracy…the world we’re making enhances and advances and invites Jason Bourne’s return [down the road].”

So why even make a Bourne film?  REALLY?  Call it something different.  Or are they just going to use the Bourne name to capitalize profit?

Does not make sense to me.

Your thoughts?  Has anybody read the book in question?

The 4th installment of the “Bourne” franchise will be called “The Bourne Legacy” and will be directed by Tony Gilroy.  Gilroy’s previous work has included: Michael Clayton which he directed and he has written the past Bourne films as well.

Matt Damon has stated that he will NOT return to the series without previous director Greengrass, but I think Gilroy has enough clout to lure the actor back.  If not, then the Bourne films will suffer in my opinion.

Any casting suggestion for a new Jason Bourne?
