Film Review: ‘Spectre’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 3rd, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

spectre-nbimagesopening-fbpic

The year 2015 marks the 24th ‘James Bond‘ film in the 007 franchise. It also marks the most expensive Bond film to date, which is also in the top two most expensive films ever made with a budget of over $300 million. Even in addition to that, this new 007 movie, titled ‘Spectre‘ is the longest running Bond film with a runtime of 148 minutes. With the billion dollar success and critical acclaim from ‘Skyfall‘ a couple of years ago, the studio and its executives thought it would be a good idea to go bigger and “better” on everything. That’s not always a good thing, as is the case with ‘Spectre‘, which is bloated and disappointing.

Enjoy the 007 ‘Spectre’ Trailer’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 22nd, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

bond-24-spectre

Mark your calendars for November 6th of this year, because that’s when 007 James Bond returns to the big screen with ‘Spectre‘. This will be the 24th Bond movie and has Daniel Craig returning as the secret agent as well as Ralph Fiennes taking the role of M. This just looks amazing. Lea Seydoux and Monica Bellucci look stunning and of course Christoph Waltz looks scary as hell here as the villain. I just can’t wait. Enjoy the trailer.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Atomic Blonde’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 9th, 2017

THE FILM

This film portion is written by Dan Moran.

Atomic Blonde isn’t a perfect movie. It has an overly complex plot and is about 20 minutes longer than it needs to be, but all of that is overcome by some of the best action sequences in recent memory with an absolutely badass performance by Charlize Theron.

A New Film Festival Will Open at ‘The Shining’ Hotel!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 31st, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

overlook2

Good news, everyone. There is a new horror genre film festival looking to scare people next year, which will be called ‘The Overlook Film Festival‘ and will start on April 27th at Oregon’s Timberline Lodge, which was used (exterior shots) for Stanley Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’. Festival heads Michael Lerman and Landon Zakheim announced the event this Halloween and are planning on bringing classic films, new films, experimental events, and interactive fun to the Timberline Hotel. This first year will be a four day event and looks to be quite fun as it is being put on by a ton of people from the Alamo Drafthouse and ‘Fantastic Fest‘.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘ promises to be every bit as much an awesome ride as its predecessor. We’ve got a new mix tape our heroes will be kicking ass, and dancing, to. The first soundtrack was nominated for a Grammy, so this one has to up the ante. Plus new cast members including one suave, charming dude that wasn’t at all shy about kicking a chick’s ass in ‘The Hateful Eight‘, that’s right – Kurt Russell. Who are the others new cast members you ask, I’ve got the details after the jump.

Elijah Wood’s SpectreVision and Chiller Films are teaming up to distribute a film that’s been labeled as “psychologically ratcheting” with ‘The Boy‘. Ted Henley (Jared Breeze) and his father (David Morse) operate a floundering family business – The Mt. Vista Motel. It’s just the two of them since Ted’s mother ran off with a guest years earlier, stealing the motel’s soul and one of its last regular patrons. Since then, Ted’s father has drifted into despondency – becoming a living ghost, haunting his own motel and leaving Ted to fend for himself. In his isolation, unchecked by the bounds of parenting, friendship, or affection, Ted’s fascination with death awakens with destructive consequences.

Bryan Kluger’s Best/Worst of 2015!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 30th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

1140-mfg-2015-Readers-Choice-Best-Movie-poll-collage-promo.imgcache.rev1449178940055.web.722.414

I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by. 2015 was an interesting year to say the least, most of which was great. Movie-wise, I think 2015 had some excellent films filling its theaters, but of course it had some real stinkers too. Below is my list of the Best and Worst films of 2015.  I believe this year I watched over 175 new films, theatrically speaking and it was very difficult to narrow them down from 25. After some strawberry cake covered in Lucky Charms, I finally had a TOP 15, however, these films are in no particular order this year. But when you talk about the Best movies, you have to mention the worst too. My list tends to be a tad bit different from others, but hey, I’m twisted. I highly encourage you to seek out these movies – good or bad and enjoy the rest of your year.

And the 2016 Golden Globe Nominees Are….

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 10th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

The awards show is January 10 on NBC hosted by Ricky Gervais. First off, let’s look at something AWESOME here. ‘MAD MAX: FURY ROAD‘ is nominated for BEST PICTURE. It needs to win. It should win. And if does win, we all go streaking. That being said…I can’t believe that ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl‘ was not nominated for anything. Come on. It’s one of the BEST films of the year. It’s also interesting to see no love for the final season of ‘Mad Men’ her either. Oh well.

Here is the list of nominees:

Hey guys, Jana here,

alien_logo2.0.0

Ridley Scott has decided that as long as he’s getting such great buzz for ‘The Martian‘ and has all the press attention he could want, why not use it to tease the die-hard ‘Alien‘ fans at what is next to come in the franchise? Instead of months of calling the film a ‘Prometheus‘ sequel, we OFFICIALLY have a title – ‘Alien: Covenant‘ and we have a little more on the synopsis front, too.

Hi, Bryan Here….

I think Guillermo Del Toro might just be the coolest guy on the planet, next to Tom Waits.  His new epic film ‘Pacific Rim’ is testing through the roof, we hear and Warner Bros. is so happy about it, they want Guillermo to make all their films.  Warner offered Guillermo to direct a feature adaptation of the tv series ‘V’ and a sequel to ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.  But we hear that Guillermo wants to do his own version of a film like ‘The Avengers’ or ‘The Justice League’.
