Hi, Bryan Here…

Seth Green has joined the cast of ‘Delete’, which is a four hour miniseries that centers on a near future where the internet has turned on humans.  DUH-DUH-DUH-DUH-DUH (Terminator theme music in my head). Green will play Lucifer, and by Lucifer, I don’t mean the Devil.  Lucifer, which I imagine is a code name is described as a hacker activist who is a cross between Gene Hackman in Enemy Of The State and WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Interesting news is afoot with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (This is the End, Preacher). The writing/directing duo purchased the rights to the ‘Where’s Waldo‘ franchise back in 2011 and it looks like MGM is ready to greenlight a live action version of it. You remember ‘Where’s Waldo‘ – the guy in the striped wool hat that is dressed in red, white, and blue, with glasses that you spent hours looking for in many books. The screenplay is written by Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir, who according to Deadline have been taken under the wings of Goldberg and Rogen for some time now.

Jana B. here,

Console Wars

Blake Harris has a new novel dropping in May of this coming year entitled ‘Console War‘. Sony Pictures has already snapped up the feature rights from Atlantic Books. The behind-the-scenes business thriller that chronicles how Sega, a small, scrappy gaming company led by an unlikely visionary and a team of rebels, took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video game industry. Culminating in a David and Goliath face-off. The battle was vicious, relentless, and highly profitable, eventually sparking a global corporate war that would be fought on several fronts: from living rooms and schoolyards to boardrooms and Congress. It was a once-in-a-lifetime, no-holds-barred conflict that pitted brother against brother, kid against adult, Sonic against Mario, and the US against Japan.Atlantic will publish ‘Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation’ in August.

Justifying the Female Villain: An Essay by Tuesday Shank!

Justifying the Female Villain

By Tuesday Shank

(Find Tuesday Shank on Twitter and Instagram!)

I stumbled through my college career. After the better part of six years, I began my work on my senior thesis. I undertook the easiest thesis I could think for myself to do: analyze a television show. My advisor’s academic expertise was gender studies. As a fan of Joss Whedon, I knew of Joss Whedon’s reputation for feminist characters and decided to use my thesis to sing Whedon’s praises.

Thus, I began my work on “Careful Jayne, You’ll Scare the Women: An Analysis of Gender Representations in the Television Show, Firefly”. I watched Firefly enough that I’m still not eager to see it again. Halfway through the semester, I just wanted to watch anything else.

DVD Review: ‘Robot Chicken: Season 7’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 4th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

RobotChicken_S7

THE SERIES

It’s hard to believe this little gem of a show has now had seven full seasons. Creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich have molded a stop motion show of action figures into a cult phenomenon that is one of Adult Swim’s biggest series. If you’re unfamiliar with the series, each episode is less than 15 minutes in length and is a series of very short comedy skits, all using stop motion with action figures. The catch is that it’s definitely geared towards adults, since the comedy is very R rated.

Hi Bryan Here….

‘Mars Needs Moms’ was actually a whole lot of fun.  I was very surprised on how much I liked it.  I’ll be honest, I went into watching the film expecting a complete turd, but I was surprised by how adult it was along with it being hilarious, and completely thrilling.  This movie was really a good time.  It was funny, smart, and exciting all in one.   This release comes in a combo 4 pack meaning you get the 3D Bluray, the 2D Bluray, the DVD, and the digital copy.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Jungle Book’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 30th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

61Pcq43NUDL

THE FILM

How many renditions have there been of ‘The Jungle Book‘? More than a dozen over the years for sure, and it seems like Disney has more than just one project of ‘The Jungle Book‘ in play at the moment, or shall I say ‘The Jungle Book‘, meaning Disney has one and Warner Bros. has one.  The first project is Jon Favreau’s version, which is a live-action film, based on Rudyard Kipling’s famous book. The film itself is stunningly beautiful, as we see in the first shot of the film, which is deep inside the jungle with the young Mowgli running and hopping through the trees. The use of 3D here was actually quite good, specifically the amount of depth it gave the film and surrounded you with all that is the jungle.

There is a dark cloud of reality hanging over this Sunday’s Hell in a Cell

It started moving in last month, when Sting faced Seth Rollins in the main event at Night of Champions.

The story was that the Vigilante Sting, WCW’s greatest icon and the last soldier of the Monday Night War, magically appeared to challenge Rollins for the WWE Championship. Admittedly, he had already magically appeared once only to lose to Triple H, so there was slightly less magic than advertised. but Sting seemed to be enjoying himself and Rollins sold the idea of Sting being threatening well enough to make their match-up compelling.

WWE: Summerslam 2015!!

One of the biggest pay-per-views of the year is ‘Summerslam‘, only second to ‘WRESTLEMANIA‘. This ‘Summerslam‘ marks the 28th Summerslam event for the WWE Corp, and featured quite the card. Jana’s Best/Worst of 2014!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 15th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

PicMonkey Collage

It’s been a big year for the entertainment world. Netflix’s initial push to bring movie-theater worthy films straight to streaming customers and bypassing the big screen altogether set off a chain of deals that will take those fresh releases and push them directly into homes allowing us to bypass a $15.00 soda, but denying us the $20.00 popcorn you can only get at the theater. Then came the deluge of series and movies being made for exclusive run with everyone from Netflix, Amazon to Crackle and everything in between. Top that off with the huge breach of privacy Sony experienced. New releases were flooded onto P2P sharing sites and private emails from the film company’s big wigs that show us how the infrastructure of Sony really works, not to mention what those involved really think of some of their superstars.

We have also reported that Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg were attached to produce and write the script for this new television series. Well, good news has come. Seth Grahame-Smith has made a name for himself in the book world and in the film world. He was a writer and producer since around 2000 and his been a part of projects like ‘The Hard Times of RJ Berger‘ and ‘Dark Shadows‘. Then came the big screen adaptation of his novel ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter‘, from there he picked up several more projects. He is currently writing the ‘Beetlejuice‘ sequel for Director Tim Burton and signed on as a producer for the project. In a producer capacity, he is involved in the ‘It‘ remake, the ‘Gremlins‘ reboot and ‘Ninjago‘. I’ll spare you the argument I have against film remakes.

Film Review: ‘Joe’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 10th, 2014

Hi, Bryan Here….

joe-movie-review-09122013-145102

Director David Gordon Green has had quite an impressive resume over the last ten years, and this being 2014, Green is showing no signs of weakening or bowing down to the execs of Hollywood any time soon. Green’s resume includes ‘Pineapple Express‘, ‘Eastbound and Down‘, ‘Your Highness‘, and the more recent drama ‘Prince Avalanche‘. He also produced the gritty thriller ‘Compliance‘. Green seemed to step away from the likes of Will Ferrell, Seth Rogen, and Danny McBride, and made an unrelenting yet beautiful movie with ‘Joe‘, which is based on a novel by Larry Brown of the same name from 1991.

Blu-Ray Review: ‘Ted’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 16th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…

81eCHHOHKEL._AA1500_

‘Ted’ is hilariously funny.  I didn’t expect it to be as humorous as it was, but I busted a gut from start to finish.  I’m not a huge ‘Family Guy’ fan. so I admit, I was a bit apprehensive to watch a feature film written and directed by Seth MacFarlane.  I was quite surprised as to how warm and witty it was.  After the first 15 minutes or so of seeing an animated teddy-bear come to life, I really didn’t see it as a teddy-bear, but rather an actual person.  MacFarlane captured a genuine and heartwarming film with an ultra raunchy and vulgar kick at every turn.
