THE FILM

The original ‘Poltergeist‘ film was a perfect mix of horror and comedy. It had the minds of Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper behind it and went on to financial and critical success. Of course, they made sequels to make more money, but we’ve often seen that more times than not, these sequels don’t embody the spirit of the original and can come off quite bad. The original film spawned two sequels and a TV Series along with the recent horrible remake. ‘Poltergeist II‘ had its share of great moments, due to the amazing visual effects work and the whole family coming back to reprise their roles, but that’s not the case with ‘Poltergeist III‘, which is no doubt, the worst film in the franchise.

THE FILM

It’s hard to compete with the first ‘Poltergeist‘ film. You had Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper behind the scenes there with an excellent mix of straight out horror and comedy. You would be laughing at Craig T. Nelson sucking in his stomach in front of the mirror one minute, and scared to piss and back at the clown doll attacking little Robbie. It was simply perfect in every way. Some four years later, the studio decided to make a sequel since the first film did so well critically and financially, and it was called ‘Poltergeist II: The Other Side‘.

4K UHD Review: ‘Halloween’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 2nd, 2018

John Carpenter’s original ‘Halloween‘ film is iconic, classic, amazing, scary, and still holds up to this day. It paved the way for modern horror movies and slashers and spawned numerous sequels. This film has been released dozens of times over the years on various formats, but this is the first time in 4K UHD with Dolby Vision, which is an upgrade, to say the least. If you’re unfamiliar with the story of the movie, this is a slow burn of a masked killer with supernatural abilities and demonic forces who stalks and kills his victims, most of them high-school students. He’s the one in the dark corners, behind walls, and hidden in the bushes waiting to pounce and brutally kill you.

Blu-ray Review: ‘The Conjuring 2’

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 12th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

THE FILM

It seems like a ton of horror movies come out every year, and most times, they don’t live up to their potential. There are a handful of horror movies over the last decade that really satisfy us horror fans. Films like ‘The Babadook‘, ‘It Follows‘, and ‘The Conjuring‘ will still be talked about for years to come. One name in the horror genre, or at least in recent years is James Wan. This man burst onto the scene with ‘Saw‘, which was basically genre changing and spawned a ton of sequels. Wan also made a few other horror films, all testing the bounds and pushing us into a new horror direction, while still respecting his influences.

Hi, Bryan Here…..

MusicSheetOldBloodFILMS

Mondo has only released a handful of soundtracks on vinyl since they first opened online, but this year they are hitting the ground full force with releasing more amazing movie soundtracks on the best quality format to listen to music. So far this year we have had ‘Poltergeist‘, ‘The Deadly Spawn‘, and the recent ‘Drive‘ soundtrack, which sold out in record time in under 30 minutes. And just this past week, they sold out of their newest soundtrack, ‘Oblivion‘, which has an amazing score. The cover artwork is amazing and the sound is even better with their releases. Mondo clearly knows what they’re doing when it comes to art and soundtracks.

Movie Quotes

Esteban Vihaio:
How may I be of service to you?
The Bride:
Where's Bill?
Esteban Vihaio:
Ahh... You must be Beatrix. I can see the attraction. I remember when Bill was only five years old, I took him to the movies. It was a movie starring Lana Turner. "The Postman Always Ring Twice" with John Garfields. And whenever she would appear on the screen, Bill would begin to suck his thumb to an obscene amount. And I knew from this very moment, that this boy was a fool for blondes. Mmm...
