Film Review: ‘Phantom Thread’!

It was a gloomy day when Daniel Day-Lewis announced his retirement from acting in 2017, and watching the curtain close over his final film was bittersweet. But in staying steadfast to his trademark of eloquent and emotional performances, he established once more that he’s a masterful artist. ‘Phantom Thread‘ is a stylishly sophisticated picture interlaced with darkness. Director Paul Thomas Anderson has capsuled the allure of a post-war decade and produced a motion picture any exiting actor would be proud to call their last.

Paul Thomas Anderson and Daniel Day Lewis are back at it again with a new film called ‘Phantom Thread‘, which is set to release on Christmas later this year. I’m quite sure the film, along with both Lewis and Anderson will be nominated for all the Oscars. Of course, Anderson brought us ‘Boogie Nights‘ all those years ago and has continued to bring us amazing films over the years. He even teamed with Daniel Day Lewis with ‘There Will Be Blood‘, which is still talked about today, milkshakes and all.

Dan Moran’s Top 12 Movies of 2017 Plus Extras!

I saw 75 movies this year and I still have 3-4 left to finish up over the next few weeks. I haven’t seen The Post, Call Me By Your Name, or Phantom Thread yet. Phantom Thread is the only regret I have but it doesn’t come out until mid-January and I like to finish my list before first week of January ends. A few special awards before my top 12.
