by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 7th, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

High Quality Wallpaper

Paul Rudd has had no trouble keeping his name in trade papers for the entertainment industry with his upcoming turn as the Marvel superhero ‘Ant-Man‘, now he makes headlines again with his decision on his next project. He has chosen the film adaptation of Jonathan Evison’s novel ‘The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving‘.

Hi, Bryan Here…

Marvel and Edgar Wright have just cast another A-List actor for their ‘ANT-MAN‘ movie. Michael Douglas now joins Paul Rudd in ‘ANT-MAN‘. Previously, we reported that Paul Rudd will be playing the hero, which he still is, but Douglas will also be playing ‘ANT-MAN‘ aka Hank Pym, while Rudd will be playing Scott Lang.

Paul Rudd is Ant-Man!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 19th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…

Paul Rudd

It’s official. Paul Rudd is going to be Edgar Wright’s ANT-MAN. This is huge news. One of my favorite comedic actors is now in the Marvel universe and will probably be in the next ‘Avengers’ film. Rudd, who is mostly seen in Apatow films will be playing Hank Pym or Dr. Pym, aka ANT-MAN, who is a super-hero in the Marvel universe.

Misty Here….

Admission-Movie

Over the years, we have seen Hollywood recycle the same old storyline for their romantic comedies, where we see an unlikely relationship between two people go through its ups and downs over the course of two hours. As a woman, I know how cliche and unrealistic this is, however I still enjoy the happy ending Hollywood usually provides when I leave the theater. I usually enjoy the warm, fuzzy feeling I get when I leave the theater.  ‘Admission‘ did not disappoint in that amorous feeling as Tina Fey and Paul Rudd did great jobs in the lead, lending plenty of jokes and heartfelt moments.

This looks like as close as we’ll get to a ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ sequel in the next year or two, but Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, David Wain, and Michael Showalter are all teaming together for a new film called ‘They Came Together’.  Wain and Showalter penned the script soon after ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ was released.

The new Paul Rudd comedy, “Our Idiot Brother” is coming soon to a theater near you and stars Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, and Emily Mortimer, and Rashinda Jones which according to IMDB is about an “… idealist who barges into the lives of his three sisters.”  This got pretty good reviews when it premiered at Sundance.  The trailer is below for your enjoyment.

Dan Moran’s Review of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 4th, 2018

Ant-Man & The Wasp is perfectly fine. Its ok. It is certainly a two hour movie in which things happen. I was entertained by things that happened in this movie, that I definitely saw, but I don’t think matter at all. I love Paul Rudd. Evangeline Lily as Wasp is delightful. Michael Pena steals every single scene he is in again. Michael Douglas certainly enjoys his paycheck. Walton Goggins is wasted, but my face lit up every time he spoke. This is without a doubt the best cast of all the solo Marvel films. The problem with the movie is that it was released at the worst possible time to get anyone to care about it.

Film Review: ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 2nd, 2018

A few years later, we have a sequel to one of the Avenger’s more minuscule components in ‘Ant-Man‘. The original film was funny, charming, and had a good deal of entertainment value, mostly due to Paul Rudd’s unique and perfect comedy timing and delivery. Now, after the big consequences of ‘Black Panther‘ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘, Marvel thought it be best to make ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp‘ with a funnier tone and with much lower conflict and chaos. It’s a nice breather before what’s to come in future Marvel movies.

It’s been announced today, which is before Marvel’s big panel at Comic Con that Walton Goggins (Vice Principals, The Shield, The Hateful Eight) will be joining the cast in the sequel.

Favorite Movie Scene of the Day #11!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 12th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

When David Wain, Michael Showalter, and Michael Ian Black showed up on the entertainment scene, they brought comedy into a new direction with their unique humor and jokes in the Stella shorts. If you haven’t seen those, I highly suggest you check those out. A little bit later on, they made a tiny movie called Wet Hot American Summer, which became an instant beloved cult classic that has spawned multiple sequels/prequels in tv series form on Netflix. Speaking in terms of specific scenes though, one in particular comes to mind that makes me laugh out loud every time I see and think about it.

4K UHD Review: ‘The Great Gatsby’!

THE FILM

Director Baz Luhrmann has created a grand opus filled with shiny costumes, modern music, magical camera tricks, and classic style of early Hollywood film-making to bring to life once again F. More ‘Wet Hot American Summer‘ is coming to Netflix in 2017 with eight new episodes, and is subtitled ‘Ten Years Later‘. I guess they are really going to abide by that scene in the original film where everyone discusses meeting back up ten years later, and then trying to actually schedule a time and date. Film Review: ‘Ant-Man’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 14th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

ant-man_movie_image_collection

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues this summer of 2015 with ‘Ant-Man‘, which is a lesser known character and storyline than the usual big Avenger characters. This is a film that i’ve looked forward to for a few years now, because the story of ‘Ant-Man‘ and his abilities are very cool. When I had my comic book store, I actually had the first five issues of ‘Ant-Man‘ ever. I really dug those comics. Imagine how excited I was when news broke that director Edgar Wright signed on to write and direct the film.

2015 Disney Film Release Dates With Trailers!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 30th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

star-wars-disney-570x307

While the world is focusing on auld lang syne and bringing 2014 to a close, Disney is pointedly looking to the future or “To infinity and beyond!” as Buzz Lightyear would say. Walt Disney Studios has given us a wide list of release dates for 2015 including the first Star Wars since the mouse has taken ownership. It’s a big lineup and will, no doubt, bring in a wega-payday for the company. In the last year, three films, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘, ‘Maleficent‘ and ‘Captain America Winter Soldier‘ brought in over $700 million world-wide on their own. It stands to reason they can expect the same from 2015. Let’s kick it off with some animation!

‘Ant-Man’ Begins Production and Fills Out Cast!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 18th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

1608470801_1355278853

Today marks the beginning of filming for Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’. It has been a winding road getting to this point though. There has been a change in director and the loss of 3 cast-members due to scheduling issues because of delays. Some of us probably thought it would be a miracle of Marvel proportions if it were to ever make it to the big screen. Some of the reason for doubt stems from the fact that original director Edgar Wright had been working on bringing the 2D superhero to life since 2006 with very limited success.

Bradley Cooper to play ‘The Elephant Man’!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 23rd, 2014
Jana B. here,

Bradley Cooper is the Sexiest Man Alive. It’s easy to see how legions of fans fall for his rugged, classic good looks.  He just received his second Oscar nomination in the last 2 years for his role in ‘American Hustle‘ and last year from ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘. Cooper is turning his attention back to Broadway, now. It has been eight years since he starred with Julia Roberts and Paul Rudd in 2006’s ‘Three Days of Rain‘. The reason he is returning to the stage is to headline a revival of Bernard Pomerance’sThe Elephant Man‘. Cooper will play John Merrick,  the seriously deformed man John Hurt portrayed in the 1980 film version and Cooper, himself played in 2012 at Williamstown Theatre Festival. Where the film was heavy on prosthetic SFX, the stage production is devoid of any such prosthesis. The deformity is to be shown through physical acting alone.

Almost a decade later, we have received a sequel to the cult comedy hit, ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy‘, which might have not performed all so well at the box office back in 2004, but has become an instant classic on home video. In these past years, we have seen nearly every actor from that film become super stars with a giant fan-base that has been quoting their dialogue from their film all those years ago. Well, we’re here with ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues‘, and I’m here to say that there are enough gut busting laughs for three entire feature films, and I expect this sequel to boast huge ratings and numbers at the box office come this holiday.

Tina Fey and Paul Rudd star in this rocky comedy from ‘American Pie‘ director Paul Weitz, which jumps between being a heartfelt drama and gross out comedy far too often. Based on the novel of the same name by Jean Hanff Korelitz and adapted to a screenplay by Karen Croner, ‘Admission‘ tells a tale on the ins and outs of being accepted into college, especially one of the most notable and best colleges in America. Even with top notch talent rounding out this little film, I only expect modern returns at the box office due to its subject matter.

Top 133 Films of the Last Decade (#133 – #120)

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 29th, 2010

Earlier in the year, I made my list of favorite and best films to come out between the years 2000 and 2010.  A ten year span of great films.  Films that I completely forgot about.  Films you may have not even heard of.

So I came up with 133 films which was narrowed down from about 300 or more.  Below is the start of the list which has the film title, the date it was released, and my brief personal memory and review of the film.  Plus the link to purchase the movie for a cheap price.

It was a great time coming up with this list.  It was also fairly difficult once I got down to the last 20 or so because they are in fact in order from great to the absolute best of the year.

So over the next few days I will be posting more titles as we get to the #1 spot.

I hope you enjoy and feel free to comment.

133_ Wet Hot American Summer – July 27, 2001

How could this movie not be on a favorite list?  Especially a list of top films of a decade.  This film is balls out hilarious, but in that silly way.  It takes place in the 80’s at a summer camp on the last day of camp.  Directed by David Wain from Stella, Role Models, and The Ten, with an all-star comedic cast including Janeane Garofalo, Paul Rudd, David Hyde Pierce, Amy Poehler, and Michael Ian Black, amongst others.  There are plenty of quotable lines and tons of gut-busting laughs.

132_ The Bridge – October 27, 2006

This is a very haunting documentary that I remember having many conversations

with people after viewings.  Two filmmakers set out to make a documentary film on the Golden Gate Bridge on its history and beauty.  As they were filming the bridge, the filmmakers noticed people committing suicide by jumping off the bridge quite often.  This documentary is about those suicides and interviews with  the vicitims families and friends.  You will actually see people talking on the phone – hang up – then jump to their death.  It is unforgettable.

131_ Bandits – October 12, 2001

I loved this film with Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thorton who stole the show.  These two characters are criminals in jail who break out of prison and go on a bank robbing spree.  It is very heart felt and load of hilarity.  Not any of it seems forced.  Actually, the two bank robbers are the good guys.  Great film that I feel that was missed by a lot of people.  Check it out.

130_ JCVD – June 4, 2008

JCVD as in Jean-Claude Van Damme.  This film is brilliant.  It is fiction mixed in with documentary.  Very strange but oh so good.  This is NO action flick.  AT ALL.  JCVD plays himself in real life.  He is coming to terms that he is just a B movie actor that fights.  His personal life is in shambles and he has no money and his wife is trying to get custody of his kid in the bitter divorce battle.  Add to that while he is getting a wire transfer of money in his home town at the post office, criminals hold everyone hostage and want money and tell the press and officers outside that JCVD is the culprit.  This film is very emotional and very well acted.  Yes.  Very well acted.  I really hope to see what this director does next.  Truly excellent film.

129_ Kung Fu Hustle – April 8, 2005

From the makes of Shaolin Soccer comes King Fu Hustle with Stephen Chow.  This movie is all sorts of fun.  A Kung Fu film that does not take itself seriously and packs high end special effects and lots of laughs.  Typical evil vs good film.  I love these types of films and will always hold a place in my heart for Stephen Chow.

128_ Death To Smoochy – March 29, 2002

I’m a sucker for dark comedies.  This is one of the best.  I great cast of Edward Norton and Robin Williams who play kid tv show personalities who are bitter rivals.  This shows what the seedy underbelly of kids shows are really about.  Such great black humor and very well directed by Danny Devito.  Loved it.

127_ Ginger Snaps – May 11, 2001

A kick ass different take on werewolf movies that involve high school sisters.  Extremely gory and violent with a dark wit that takes you on a great journey on what it is like to transform into a werewolf in high school.  Sexy Werewolves equal AWESOME!

126_ Remember the Titans – September 29, 2000

I remember seeing this film and becoming very emotional while watching it.  Based on a true story in the south about a black high school football coach overcoming racism in the 60’s as he leads his interracial football team to win the championship undefeated.  The soundtrack to this film is top notch and a great performance from Denzel Washington.  One great heart felt Disney Film.

125_ Team America: World Police – October 15, 2004

From the creators of South Park comes a Jerry Bruckhemier/Michael Bay marionette production of a group US citizens who fight the war on terror.  Very crude and lewd and hilarious.  Oh the sex scene is worth the price of admission alone.  America….Fuck Yeah!

124_ Knocked Up – June 1, 2007

The sophomore effort from Judd Apatow is a great film about a stoner schmuck who scores a one night stand with a hot tv personality who becomes pregnant.  Apatow mixes great feeling and emotion with tons of dick jokes.  A perfect combination that makes a successful story and film. The deleted scene with Jonah Hill and Katherine Hiegel discussing Brokeback Mountain is one of the greatest discussions EVER!

123_ The Simpsons Movie – July 27, 2007

Finally!  Fifteen years in the making.  This had everything that I wanted in a Simpsons movie.  Good morals, great story, and lots of laughs and inside jokes made this brilliant movie a masterpiece.  Matt Groening made America’s favorite family a joy to watch all these years and the movie was NOT  a let down.  Keep up the good work.

122_ Chocolate – February 6, 2008

An awesome Thai film about a girl with emotional problems to the ppoint where she is almost non-sociable with anyone.  She has a great fondness for Chocolate and once she sees some Thai Fightin on tv courtesy of Tony Jaa, she learns to fight by watching it and then goes after bad guys in the neighborhood.  A film that has no stunt wires or special effects, but stuntmen who take real hits and fall hard.  A real treat in filmmaking.

121_ School of Rock – October 3, 2003

A perfect combination of Jack Black being Jack Black while Jack Black teaches kids about music and playing rock music.  This movie could have failed in so many places, but I was surprised on every corner.  This film plays very well to all audiences.  If you love music and comedy than this is a film you have to see.  Very well done.

120_ Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – November 16, 2001

The first film in the whole series created a whole new world to everyone and in filmmaking.  Great filmmaking and acting as well as speical effects made this children’s book come to life and was great for the whole family.
