Hey guys, Jana here,

AP FILM NICOLAS CAGE I ENT CAN

In the world of Nicolas Cage, he’s in project after project. I’m hoping his tax issues are coming to a close and he can actually pick quality roles over quantity. Not that taking every part is a bad thing, Danny Trejo kicks ass with that and it’s more fun than finding the hidden Mickeys in a Disney movie to spy the Trejo appearances.

This trailer is different for Cage, and looks like this will be one of the good movies for him. I can’t wait to see this, as it looks different and original from anything else. Enjoy the trailer below. ‘JOE‘ will be released in theaters and VOD on April 11th.

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 5th, 2014

Hi, Bryan Here…

Nicolas Cage gun Kick-Ass

The man who is the best at freaking out, Nicolas Cage, is in negotiations to star in ‘Men With No Fear‘, which is a revenge flick from Paco Cabezas (‘Neon Flesh‘). Bryan Singer (‘X-Men‘ and ‘The Usual Suspects‘) is producing the flick. The movie is written by Cabezas and centers around a man named Marty ‘The Mule’ (Cage), who is just released from prison after being set up but his former boss named Frank, a local small-time crook. While Marty was locked away in a prison cell, Frank became a big and wealthy drug kingpin who would kill anyone in his way. Frank also took Marty’s young son, and raised him as his own. Now Marty is a free man and hell-bent on revenge.

Nic Cage Set to Star in New Film Made for Nic Cage!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 13th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

con-air

Nic Cage’s next film will be called ‘Tokarev‘, which is a new action-thriller about a formal criminal trying to find whoever kidnapped his daughter. Sounds familiar, right? I always wondered what the two ‘Taken‘ films would have been like if Nic Cage would have been in them. I’d tell you one thing, they’d be a hell of a lot more fun.

Nic Cage is Set For ‘The Expendables 3’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 5th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Sylvester Stallone has taken to his Facebook page to announce the arrival of Nic Cage for the 3rd film in the ‘Expendables’ franchise.  Not only that, but Stallone and his producers are reaching out to Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, and Mickey Rourke again.  Okay folks, this is getting a little out of hand.  Out of all these guys, why haven’t yo reached out to the best one yet? Bruce “man-god” Campbell.

Hi, Bryan Here….

‘The Exorcist’ director, William Friedkin is gearing up to direct a film called ‘I Am Wrath’, starring Nic Cage.  Not only did Friedkin direct ‘The Exorcist’, but he also gave us ‘To Live and Die in LA’, ‘The French Connection’, and the recent ‘Killer Joe’.  Back at the Toronto Film Festival, it was said that Cage was set to star in the film and that Friedkin was being courted by the studios to direct.  Today, the contracts are being drawn up for Friedkin to helm the project.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Remember that crazy tale of how Nic Cage’s Action Comics #1 comic was stolen back in 2000 and then turned up last year.  The whole story made national news.  This was the 1938 comic book that introduce Superman.  That issue goes for over a million dollars.  Well Hollywood is going to make a movie about that story and call it ‘Action No. 1’.

Hi Bryan Here….

So the huge action packed star studded insane action film ‘Expendables’ is getting a sequel.  If you saw the last film, you might have noticed Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger in a small and short cameo appearance.  We reported last time that both Arnold and Bruce will be back for the sequel with much larger roles.  Well Sly Stallone has confirmed that he has got Jean Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris to sign on and come aboard which is turning out to be the biggest most epic action film EVER.

Hi Bryan Here….

Here’s a review of the Nic Cage film, Drive Angry.  A little late I know, but this film is in the $1 dollar theaters now, and there is something just nostalgic and fun about going to the $1 dollars theaters nowadays.  There are not a lot of those theaters around anymore.  I used to go all the time to them, but that was also when movie tickets cost less than $5 dollars and before stadium seating.  This review comes from another one of our newest contributors to the site, so let’s all give a very warm welcome to FedMex.

A-hoy hoy,

Writing today to tell y’all about a little movie i caught at the dollar theater in the burbs.  Drive Angry 3D.  Ok, so because it was a 3D movie, I had to pay a whopping $2.75 to watch it. That stated, I can say with confidence that it was worth my money, but I can’t completely say with confidence that it was worth my drive to the burbs.

If only it were to be a sequel to Face Off directed by John Woo with all the white doves and slo-mo we could handle.  Sadly that is not going to happen.  Well at least anytime soon.  But, the two actors who have such great chemistry on screen, and play well off each other are in talks to star opposite one another in not just one film, but two films in the coming future.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood have teamed up in the heist flick ‘The Trust‘. It’s set in a location favorite of Cage’s, Las Vegas. He’s not drinking himself to death or escaping from prison this time like he did in ‘Leaving Las Vegas‘ and ‘Con Air‘, this time he’s a Vegas cop. His Stone and Wood’s Waters are partners who spend their days working in the evidence lockup. The pair come across the location of a hidden vault belonging to local drug dealers and immediately devise a plan to rob it of the riches they’re certain it holds. What they find instead begins an action-packed game of hide and seek with a deadly ending.

LP Review: ‘Luke Cage Season 2’ Soundtrack!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 8th, 2018

Marvel is certainly on a roll with their content over this past decade with their billion dollar movies and their successful television shows across multiple platforms. One of these shows is called ‘Luke Cage‘, which just debuted its second season on Netflix. Luke Cage was the first black superhero in comic books to be featured as the main protagonist with his name as the title. Cage is an ex-convict who was imprisoned for a crime he did not commit who was experimented on, thus creating his superpowers of strength and unbreakable skin. Once he hones in on these powers, he basically becomes a hero for hire and is one of the coolest characters in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

4K UHD Review: ‘Kick-Ass’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 2nd, 2017

THE FILM

Back in 2008, Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. created a new comic book that was kick-ass, that they in fact named it ‘Kick-Ass‘. It was basically Spider-Man if Spider-Man had no superpowers and was had a hardcore R rating. The amount of creative energy, violence, comedy, and character development that went into the comic was magical as it was entertaining and wonderful. Millar just had a way with words and story plot that made this comic book called ‘Kick-Ass‘ solid gold. It was to nobody’s surprise that only two years later, we got a feature film directed by Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, X-Men: First Class, Kingsman) and produced by Brad Pitt, that ignited a new breed of R rated superhero films.

Favorite Movie Scene of the Day #4!

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

maxresdefault

We’ve all had or been in the vicinity of someone having a complete meltdown. We never want to have one ourselves, because our dignity goes right out the window and we say and do things we regret. They’re just a part of life, and we can control it with a variety of medicine, breathing techniques, and various other forms of activity. Hopefully, we would have our meltdowns in the privacy of our own homes or in front of a small group of friends. We would never want to turn into Beast Mode in a public space.

Bryan’s Best and Worst of 2014 List!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 22nd, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Wright_39_s_Top_10_Films_of_2014

I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by. 2014 was an interesting year to say the least, most of which was great. Movie-wise, I think 2014 had some excellent films filling its theaters, but of course it had some real stinkers too. Below is my list of the Best and Worst films of 2014 with some added categories down at the bottom. I believe this year I watched over 145 new films, theatrically speaking and it was very difficult to narrow them down from 25. After some chocolate snacks covered in marshmallow cream, I finally had a TOP 10. But when you talk about the Best movies, you have to mention the worst too. My list tends to be a tad bit different from others, but hey, I’m twisted. I highly encourage you to seek out these movies – good or bad and enjoy the rest of your year.

Film Review: ‘The Equalizer’!!

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Denzel Washington

This remake of an 80s television show about a retired CIA operative who now helps regular people in trouble has been in the works for quite some time. I believe it was always going to star the impressive Denzel Washington, but a few directors have been in and out of the director’s chair including Nicolas Winding Refn (‘Drive‘). He bowed out a while ago and the studio asked Antoine Fuqua to helm the project, which he accepted. Fuqua worked with Washington on the Oscar winning film ‘Training Day‘, which also earned Washington an acting Oscar.

Film Review: ‘Joe’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 10th, 2014

Hi, Bryan Here….

joe-movie-review-09122013-145102

Director David Gordon Green has had quite an impressive resume over the last ten years, and this being 2014, Green is showing no signs of weakening or bowing down to the execs of Hollywood any time soon. Green’s resume includes ‘Pineapple Express‘, ‘Eastbound and Down‘, ‘Your Highness‘, and the more recent drama ‘Prince Avalanche‘. He also produced the gritty thriller ‘Compliance‘. Green seemed to step away from the likes of Will Ferrell, Seth Rogen, and Danny McBride, and made an unrelenting yet beautiful movie with ‘Joe‘, which is based on a novel by Larry Brown of the same name from 1991.

If two films weren’t enough, there will be a third movie to laugh at. That’s right, ‘The Expendables 3‘ has a release date of August 15, 2014, which Lionsgate is proud to get behind. And why shouldn’t they be proud, the first two made over $575 million worldwide, which is the biggest franchise for Millennium Films. Bryan’s Review of ‘Taken 2’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 4th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Of course they would make a sequel to ‘Taken’.  The film made over $226 million dollars with a budget $200 million smaller than its gross.  Did they need to make a sequel?  No, they didn’t.  But, since the weird popularity of Liam Neeson as of recently, it was inevitable that the studio make a sequel.  Neeson has sort of taken on the persona that Chuck Norris or Nic Cage has of the past few years.  Meaning that now, Neeson is one true ultimate badass, that fights aliens, robots, kills every bad guy everywhere in the world, and is a jedi.  ‘Taken 2’ takes all of this power, and pretty much forces it into one film. As my friend said, “No, ‘Taken 2’ is not good, but on a Nic Cage scale, it’s a 9.  And I have to agree with that.

I don’t even know where to begin with ‘G-Force’.  I just can’t fathom that anyone thought that a bunch of guinea pigs that can talk and are actually super spies would get greenlit and made into a film.  Well that happened and kids love it.  I just don’t see anyone over the age of six enjoying this film, unless you have some sort of bizarre fetish and love for guinea pigs.  Other than the film itself being a complete disaster on all levels, the video and audio are pretty decent.  Especially the video presentation.  Talking rodents who are spies.  What’ll they think of next?

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is a huge waste of time. The first Jurassic World was light on story and by no means great, but it had a healthy dose of mindless entertainment. The sequel though, wasn’t even enjoyable. Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies of all time. It was the first PG-13 movie I ever saw in a movie theater and I spent years playing with dinosaurs after seeing it. I love these kind of movies, but this sequel is just so, so bad. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom fumbled one of the easiest plots to execute in Hollywood: Have dinosaurs attack people while Chris Pratt charms the audience.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Stronger’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 18th, 2017

THE FILM

The Boston Marathon Bombing was a horrific tragedy that only happened a few years ago, where a bomb went off at the finish line of the big marathon. People died and even more were injured. Amongst those injured was a young guy named Jeff Bauman, who lost both of his legs at that bombing. We’ve seen a number of films that have dealt with terroristic attacks that involve elite military teams or big action sequences. Other films might tackle a group of police officers or a group of people who have to deal with this attack. That’s not the case with this fantastic and melancholy film called ‘Stronger‘.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

shane-jump

As I’m recovering from seven insane days of ‘Wrestlemania 32‘ in Dallas, TX., I’ve had time to reflect, contemplate, saturate, and regurgitate every I event I attended. I had my box of Booty O’s to make sure I wasn’t Booty thru the weekend, met some good people, watched some amazing matches, talked with some WWE Superstars, and lost my voice when Shane-O-Mac put his life on the line for the WWE Business. To quote a certain former WWE announcer, it was a slobberknocker of a week for sure that hit me in the solar plexus more times than I’d like to admit. WWE really did it up big this year for Wrestlemania 32. Not only did they put on several good shows, but they also broke records. There was over 101,000 people in attendance at AT&T Stadium for Wrestlemania 32, beating the previous record from Wrestlemania 3 by quite a bit. Not only that, ticket sales and merch sales were way up as well from previous years. It seems like WWE is growing exponentially with more and more fans tuning in every week. That’s a good thing. Instead of writing a recap of the entire weekend, I’ll give you some details of some of the cooler things I witnessed over the past week.

WWE: Hell In A Cell 10/25/2015 Recap!!

by Angelic Heel on Oct 26th, 2015

Angelic Heel once more…

Hell in a Cell is known as the most brutal structure in the WWE. No other match brings with it the sense of foreboding at the mere mention of its name. The WWE Universe waited in anticipation as the Pay Per View that bore the name of the most dreaded match unfolded before them (shown on the WWE Network for the low low monthly rate of $9.99 or free for the first month #BetterThanNetflix) The night saw every Championship defended, as well as honor defended and legends put to rest. The night was filled with ups and downs that kept one guessing and in the end, the WWE delivered as the most demonic structure in sports entertainment lived up to its hype. Did you miss it? Find out what happened now!

WWE: Raw Review December 15th, 2014!!

Just 24 hours after the TLC (and Stairs) pay per view, RAW IS JERICHO! In Detroit, MI, the WWE Universe is ready to witness the Ayatollah of Rock and Rollah as interim General Manager and do his best to manage the chaos that has become the WWE’s flagship program in the absence of the Authority. The night promised to be intense as the fall out of the previous evening was hanging over the arena (looking oddly like a steel cage). How would the Best in the World at What He Does fair with such a daunting task?  Let’s find out as I give my thoughts and opinions on WWE’s Dec. 15th edition of RAW!

Hey guys, Jana here,

benghazi_victims_for_site

There are directors that you want telling the heart-wrenchingly true stories based on fact. Spielberg was unflinchingly loyal to history when he made ‘Schindler’s List‘ and ‘Saving Private Ryan‘. Mel Gibson brought the history of William Wallace to life as he led the Scots in revolt against England in ‘Braveheart‘. Ridley Scott dove into the horrific tale of ‘Blackhawk Down‘ and pulled no punches with the details. ‘Act of Valor‘, ‘Zero Dark Thirty‘ and ‘Lone Survivor’ are all cut from the same cloth as the previously mentioned films. The memory and honor of the dead lives on through these fact-based projects. One name you won’t see at the top of my wish list to direct a piece like these is Michael Bay.

Film Review: ‘The Maze Runner’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 17th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

the-maze-runner-maze-image-600x337

To end the summer and start the fall season, we have yet another Young Adult film adaptation from James Dashner’s book series called ‘The Maze- Runner‘. Like the young adult movies to come out before this one such as ‘The Giver‘, ‘Divergent‘, and even ‘The Hunger Games‘, it all takes place in the a futuristic society where Earth is mostly in ruins. And there is one person who might be able to set things straight and save a bunch people and bring peace. ‘The Maze-Runner‘ is no different when it comes to these plot points.

Top 10 List of Reboots We Don’t Want To See!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 8th, 2014

Paul N., Here…

Terminator-5-TV-Series

Like Bill Murray once said, “he’s got to be stopped. And I have to stop him.” You might have thought he was talking about a weather-predicting rodent, but no, he was actually talking about studio executives (the “he” is collective). Hollywood, like any business, is in it to make money. Therefore, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that they choose to rehash tried and true film formulas over and over again rather than take a chance on something new. While this is understandable (albeit infuriating), it doesn’t excuse the idea that EVERYTHING deserves to be re-made. Some films, like priceless art, should never be re-made and re-sold. Every time a classic film gets re-made, audiences hold their collective breaths and hope that it won’t be a straight shot in “the feels” (that nostalgic part of your brain that remembers, with fondness, all your pop culture favorites).

Michael “explosion” Bay is releasing his latest bastardization of 80’s culture unto the world in the shape of the beloved “heroes in a half shell”. In case you haven’t been following, this has been one cluster mess after another. From alien origins to white-washed villains, this movie begs the questions: “does Michael Bay hate the 80’s? Did he have some traumatically horrific experience with toys when he was a kid? Why does he have to take a giant dump on our collective fond memories time after time?”  Read the rest of this entry »

Hey guys, Jana here,

The-Coen-brothers-007

When we’re talking Hollywood, or just about movies in general and someone mentions the Coen’s. Everyone gets a different image in their heads. Some immediately think of Nicolas Cage‘s creepy porn-stache in ‘Raising Arizona‘, others think of the twangy song made popular in ‘O Brother Where Art Thou?‘ (which is currently on my iPod). Still others think of ‘The Dude’ in ‘The Big Lebowski‘.

Film Review: ‘Edge of Tomorrow’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 5th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

edgeoftomorrowposter

I’m very glad that the science-fiction genre is back and doing very well these days. The more sci-fi in theaters, the better. And we have what seems a pretty good lineup this summer of movies that involve everything you could want in a science-fiction film. Here to start off June 2014 is ‘Edge of Tomorrow‘, formally titled ‘All You Need Is Kill‘, which is based on the 2004 novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka of the same name. Director Doug Liman (‘Swingers‘, ‘Go‘, ‘The Bourne Identity‘) took a swing at this $178 million dollar budget film and hit a home-run.

Hello, Jana here,

MICHAEL-JACKSON-michael-jackson-10317030-1082-1263

Most of the time, when a singer dies, their new material releases screech to a halt. Granted, this isn’t always the case. Look at The Beatles and their song, ‘Real Love‘, it was released in 1996 (which just happens to be the year I graduated high school). John Lennon died in 1980, so it can be safely assumed he wasn’t in a recording studio with the other Beatles hammering out new tunes. Musicians have hours and hours of recordings of songs in various level of completion. It may be a first sing-through, something they’ve worked on but can’t get just right, or something that is nicely polished and they just don’t have room on a current album for the extra track. Releasing songs that have been previously recorded but not released can be a bit of closure for producers that worked with the act, for band mates and ultimately for fans.

Amazon Announces 4 Pilots Green-lit for Series!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Mar 13th, 2014

Hello Jana here,

 dt.common.streams.StreamServer

Amazon jumped head-first into original programming with 5 pilots that were uploaded to their site where they encouraged viewers to watch and comment their opinions. I’m guessing they got the reaction they wanted as they have now picked four of the titles to give a series order. This includes the first dramas for their fledgling, innovative line-up with ‘The After‘ and ‘Bosch‘. Their new comedy series are ‘Mozart In The Jungle‘ and ‘Transparent‘. The fifth pilot that was not picked up, ‘The Rebels‘ comes from Ice Cube and Michael Strahan. From Amazon’s first pilot season saw eight comedies going to pilot while only two were picked up for series, ‘Alpha House‘ and ‘Betas‘. Of those two, ‘Alpha House‘ has been renewed for a second season and ‘Betas‘ has been discontinued.

‘The Addams Family Re-Cast!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 4th, 2014

Hi, Bryan Here…

the-addams-family

Here is our fourth Re-Cast of the year, where if you are unfamiliar with our famous Re-Casts, we take an older film or tv show and re-cast it if it were remade today. And this week, we have chosen the iconic film ‘The Addams Family‘ to re-cast. There were no stipulations this time around, so if someone wanted to cast Nicolas Cage for every role, they could.. But after we finished the casting session, and finished our picks, I definitely want to see this movie. Of course, it’s always difficult to replace the original cast, but in this day and age of remakes, anythig is possible, so this is who we think would do best in these roles. This was a lot of fun. We will be posting some images of our re-cast for you to see in full on our FACEBOOK page, which you should visit to catch up on all the latest information. And don’t forget to visit iTunes and subscribe to our podcast. Enjoy the show.

Blu-Ray Review: ‘Iron Man 3’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 17th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

iron-man3

With ‘Iron Man 2‘ proving to be less than stellar back in 2010, this third sequel of the Marvelhero returns with a much needed boost of attitude and character that takes us through many twists and turns and tons of new Iron Man suits. This can be considered a sequel to both 2010′s ‘Iron Man‘ and Joss Whedon’s ‘The Avengers‘. Director Shane Black tosses away much of the wham-bam action scenes and focuses on the quick witted humor and our hero’s internal struggle with crippling panic attacks. I have no doubt this will be a fan favorite of the franchise.

I remember watching Degrassi growing up way back when it first started.  It has changed quite a bit in its 10th season but the core of the stories are still there.  I remember when Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes (Jay and Silent Bob) got involved with the Degrassi franchise.  This 10th season had 44 episodes and was previously known as Degrassi: The Next Generation but dropped ‘The Next Generation’ part for this 10th season.  This was quite fun to watch, but I’d imagine teens and pre teens would enjoy it more than I did.
