4K UHD Review: ‘Kick-Ass’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 2nd, 2017

THE FILM

Back in 2008, Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. created a new comic book that was kick-ass, that they in fact named it ‘Kick-Ass‘. It was basically Spider-Man if Spider-Man had no superpowers and was had a hardcore R rating. The amount of creative energy, violence, comedy, and character development that went into the comic was magical as it was entertaining and wonderful. Millar just had a way with words and story plot that made this comic book called ‘Kick-Ass‘ solid gold. It was to nobody’s surprise that only two years later, we got a feature film directed by Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, X-Men: First Class, Kingsman) and produced by Brad Pitt, that ignited a new breed of R rated superhero films.

Is There a ‘Kick-Ass’ 3 In The Works?!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 11th, 2014

Hey fanboys and girls, Jana here,

You may be asking yourself what is in the future for ‘Kick-Ass‘. Let me fill you in on the latest. When Mark Millar, the creator of the comic books the movies are based on, he’s not sure either. The freshman offering from the Kick-Ass universe took fans by storm and surprise. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve re-watched the movie, punched the air in victory or sat in shock watching the death of Big Daddy. Hit Girl is my personal favorite and I’ve tried telling my son numerous times that if he finds a girlfriend one day like her, I’ll be happy.

The film made stars out of relatively no-name actors Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Chloe Grace Moretz and moved them up to major players in the acting world from the bit parts they had been accepting. The budget for ‘Kick-Ass’ was a trifling $28 million dollars but brought $100 million at box offices and earned another $140 million in DVD sales. This kind of revenue would make any production company eager to sign on for a sequel and that’s what happened.

Film Review: ‘Kick-Ass 2’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 16th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…

kick-ass-2-movie-review-08142013-154101

And we’re back with a sequel to Mark Millar’s ultra-violent real-life superhero story with ‘Kick-Ass 2‘, based on the comic series of the same name. This highly entertaining sequel amps everything up to eleven (if you can believe that) from their first outing on every level possible. From the characters, to the violence, to the story, everything is toned up, bloodied, and kicks into high gear as Jeff Wadlow replaces Matthew Vaughn as director this time around. This sequel delivers the goods for fans of the first film and comic series and much more, with a high expectation at the box office.

Hi, Bryan Here….

kick-ass-2-posters

At San Diego Comic Con, a new ‘Kick-Ass 2‘ trailer was unveiled which runs just under five minutes in length. And if you were worried about it being less violent and bloody than the first film, than think again. This might be the most hardcore movie all year, judging by this trailer. Director Jeff Wadlow said, “We put these characters through a meat grinder in this one.”

Hi, Bryan Here….

I’ve been eagerly awaiting the sequel to ‘Kick-Ass‘ since when I watched the end credits for the first time of the original film. Aaron Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse all will return for the sequel along with Jim Carrey. Jeff Wadlow, who directed ‘Cry Wolf‘ is directing this venture, which I hope is as good as the first one.

Jim Carrey Might Join ‘Kick-Ass 2’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 20th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

***UPDATE***

Jim Carrey has just inked a deal that will set him to play The Colonel in the upcoming sequel ‘Kick-Ass: Balls to the Wall’. Great news. I can’t wait.

***END OF UPDATE***

Universal is trying to sign Jim Carrey to play a big supporting role in the upcoming Kick-Ass sequel titled ‘Kick-Ass 2: Balls to The Wall’.  Jeff Wadlow will be replacing Matthew Vaughn as director, which I don’t think is the best idea.  But I have hope.

Kick-Ass 2 Is Gonna Happen

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 31st, 2010

If you have not seen the impressive movie Kick-Ass then head HERE and purchase this film.  It is one of the better super-hero movies to ever come out.  EVER.  If you have not read the comic then head HERE and check them out.

According to Mark Millar (the creator of Kick-Ass), the sequel is read to be made and will start production in about nine months.  That is such joyful news to me.

Mark said in an interview that Kick-Ass 2 will take off right where the first one left off.  So you know how Dave (Kick-Ass) has inspired others to become super heroes and fight crime?  Well Red Mist has done the same thing but for people to become villains.  Think about that.  Let it marinate.  That’s right.  Two huge groups or gangs forming alliances in New York.  Oh the carnage it will have.

The title will be “Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall”

Shazam! – 4K UHD/Blu-ray Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 29th, 2019

It’s easy to see that the executives at Warner Bros. and DC Comics have been listening to the fans in wanting funnier and more light-hearted superhero films after the super dark and very adult previous films. With ‘Aquaman‘, they literally threw in everything and the kitchen sink into that film to bring a wild, chaotic affair that was silly, yet fun in a “so bad it’s good” kind of way. There is much more of a balance with ‘Shazam!‘ and dare I say it in my most impressive imitation of WWE’s The Rock – “Finally! DC has made a fun movie!” I stand by that statement too as an odd choice in director David S. Sandberg (‘Lights Out‘ and ‘Annabelle: Creation‘) took his cues from Tom Hanks‘ 1980s film ‘Big‘ and made a large budget superhero movie out of it, set in the universe of The Justice League. Everyone in the film looks to be having a great time on screen with their respective characters and it transfers to smiles and laughs in its audience.
