Gal Gadot Joins Kevin Costner On ‘Criminal’!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 13th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

NEgw0xbUfpOHjn_3_b

Those of us watching comic book news, or DC movie news in particular, already know who Gal Gadot is. If you’ve been a fan of the ‘Fast and Furious‘ franchise you knew who she was before I did. I wasn’t a huge fan of those films, but once I found out she had been cast as Wonder Woman in the ‘Batman v Superman‘ film coming from Zack Snyder I hit www.imdb.com and discovered that I had seen her in the ‘Fast and Furious‘ films, but she hadn’t really made much of an impression on Hollywood other than that.

Hi Bryan Here….

We posted a story earlier in the week that Kevin Costner has dropped out of Tarantino’s Western, ‘Django Unchained’ and how Costner should have kept in it.  You can read the story HERE.  Well it looks like Kurt Russell (yes, Jack Burton and Snake Plissken) will replace Costner as the bad guy.

Actor Kevin Costner has exited Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming violent western film ‘Django Unchained’.  Supposedly Costner left due to a scheduling conflict and personal reasons.

Hi Bryan Here….

“The project, which will center on the bloody hostilities between two clans that escalated to the point of near war between two states, will air next year, the 150th anniversary of the country’s most infamous family feud.”  Bill Paxton just signed on to play one of the characters in the rival families alongside Kevin Costner.

Hi Bryan Here….

Kevin Costner has just joined Quentin Tarantino’s Spaghetti Western ‘Django Unchained’.  He is set to play a character named Ace Woody.  “He’s the sadistic trainer of the male fighting slaves who entertain the white patrons of Candyland as well as the female slaves who are forced to be prostitutes.”  This is a different role for Costner as he will be more of the villain than the good guy.  Plus, I think this will re-vitalize Costner’s career in a good way.  I already can’t wait to see this film.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Molly’s Game’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 28th, 2018

THE FILM

(This film portion was written by Beka Perlstein)

Do you have a girl crush on Jessica Chastain? Do you have a man crush on Idris Elba? If you have any combination of the two, Molly’s Game is going to make you have all the feels. This is a well done film with all the right players and script that packs a punch. Aaron Sorkin (screenplay and first time director) has taken the novel Molly’s Game and turned it into a film that at a run time of two hours and twenty minutes seems fast paced and doesn’t waste your time. While I know literally nothing about poker, this movie kept me entertained and engaged because the story wasn’t the game-it was the players.

Summer time means a million things to different people, but some things we can all agree on. Cook outs, swimming, catching lightning bugs, camping and baseball. It’s just as pure as mom’s apple pie and the star spangled banner and every spring, a new season swings into action and a new hope is born for your team to be a contender and play through October. Ten Great Lesser-Known Films Starring Big Name Actors!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 7th, 2015

Paul N., Here…

Green_street_hooligans

You might find yourself reading the following list, thinking “Hey! I’ve seen all these movies! How dare you claim them to be ‘lesser-known’!” My response to you, should you say such a thing, is “congratulations.” You see, just because you are a film nut like me, doesn’t mean that the rest of the populace is. The following is a list of ten good films with big-named actors that somehow slipped under the general radar. I’m not saying they are completely unknown, but based upon ticket sales, it certainly seems like they slipped the notice of the general public. These are all solid films that, should you enjoy these actors, you definitely want to check them out (the films, not the actors – although to each their own, I guess).

Film Review: ‘The Barber’!

Paul N., Here..

Bowling. Bowling is a game of skill and luck. It also has absolutely nothing to do with the film, The Barber. However, it wasn’t an entirely arbitrary mention either. If you have ever bowled, you know the anguish of watching the ball roll down the center of the lane only to veer off into the gutter at the last possible moment. Unfortunately this too was the fate of The Barber.

A family has a mother, father, and maybe children, a standard definition of a family.  A family is a group of people who are related to each other, yet another definition.  Nowhere in either definition is a mention of color, right?  Since the beginning of time families have blended nationality, ethnicity, and race.  This fact doesn’t make the families any less bound.

2015 Disney Film Release Dates With Trailers!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 30th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

star-wars-disney-570x307

While the world is focusing on auld lang syne and bringing 2014 to a close, Disney is pointedly looking to the future or “To infinity and beyond!” as Buzz Lightyear would say. Walt Disney Studios has given us a wide list of release dates for 2015 including the first Star Wars since the mouse has taken ownership. It’s a big lineup and will, no doubt, bring in a wega-payday for the company. In the last year, three films, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘, ‘Maleficent‘ and ‘Captain America Winter Soldier‘ brought in over $700 million world-wide on their own. It stands to reason they can expect the same from 2015. Let’s kick it off with some animation!

I had the extreme pleasure of talking with actor Tom Welling, who is in the movie ‘Draft Day‘ with Kevin Costner, but is most known for playing Clark Kent in the hit tv show ‘Smallville‘. Film Review: ‘Draft Day’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 10th, 2014

Rebecca S., Here…

DRAFT DAY

I have not been excited about a Kevin Costner movie since before I had my first kiss, which was Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. And that came out in 1991 when I was 11, and let’s face it, I was going to see Christian Slater.  It was the last Costner movie that I saw in theaters, though I have sat through or fallen asleep during his other films like Waterworld and The Postman.  So when I was asked to go see Draft Day, a movie I knew absolutely nothing about going into the theater except that it was about either the NFL or NBA  (Do other sports have draft days?), I took my husband along for moral support/sports clarification just in case. This movie had all the makings of a perfect storm of being truly awful and I had a depraved eagerness to write this review in order to drop the hate bomb on Costner. But man, was I wrong. This movie was good. Really good.

Film Review: ‘3 Days To Kill’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 20th, 2014

Hi, Bryan Here….

kevin-costner-is-in-killer-mode-in-3-days-to-kill

With characters named ‘The Wolf’, ‘The Albino’, ‘The Accountant’, and ‘The Guido’, you can’t expect too much quality from ‘3 Days To Kill‘, which was directed by McG (the guy who brought us the ‘Charlie’s Angels‘ movies and who at one point, wanted to cast Beyonce as Lois Lane in an abandoned remake of ‘Superman‘ several years ago). Needless to say, McG, hasn’t done anything of interest ever in his career with the exception of giving a little bit of money to television shows like ‘Supernatural‘ and ‘Chuck‘.

The Top 10 Gangster Movie List!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 19th, 2014

Jana B. here,

GangsterListBANNER

Some girls are all into sappy romances or heart touchingly saccharine-sweet movies. Movies that sometime contain a troubled family learning to love a curmudgeonly, absent  grandparent, or a shattered family recovering from the death of one of its immediate member. Sometimes it’s a pet that waltzes, unexpectedly, into a tumultuous atmosphere that teaches everyone to love more before it’s killed in some unimaginative way.

I hate movies like that. I hate books like that and I hate songs like that. If a member of a family is killed, it better be a mafia family, and I get to look forward to their violent, bloody and evil retribution.  I am so fascinated by the inner workings of these ‘families’. I love to see the fronts they use to launder their income and imagine ways I would do it if I was involved.

Hey guys!  Remember Jason Bourne?  Hell no you don’t!  At least you won’t give a crap about him after you watch JACK RYAN!  The director of “Thor” (Kenneth Branagh) shows us that he can again take really old source material and totally revamp it for today’s audience.  Jack Ryan is given about fifteen minutes of really effective origin story, and then a whopping hour and a half of non stop action.

Hi, Bryan Here…

It’s been quite a number of years since we saw the character Jack Ryan save America from an impending doom. It’s been twelve years in fact since ‘The Sum of All Fears‘ where Ben Affleck played Jack Ryan. Before him was Harrison Ford in ‘Patriot Games‘ and ‘Clear and Present Danger‘, and Alec Baldwin played the hero character in ‘Hunt for Red October‘. This time around we receive a much needed reboot to the franchise, and let me be the first to say, this is a solid action spy thriller. I can’t wait for the sequel.

Film Review: ‘Man of Steel’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 12th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

man-of-steel-theme

Did we need another Superman origin story to grace our theaters just seven years after Bryan Singer’s attempt at ‘Superman Returns‘? While that particular film wasn’t so much a reboot as it was a sequel to the original ‘Superman 2‘, and its failure in its characters and story, maybe it was time to forget that ‘Superman Returns‘ existed and start from scratch. And with the super success of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and Marvel’s Avenger’s films, DC and Warner Bros. might want to take the same road to a Justice League film starting with ‘Man of Steel‘.

Hi, Bryan Here….

globes-drink

The Golden Globes were last night and Tina Fey and Amy Poehler killed it. They were amazing.  Even former president Bill Clinton showed up to talk about Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln‘.  Even though I really liked the film ‘Argo‘, I was shocked when it won best film and director for Ben Affleck. I was happy to see ‘Django Unchained‘ win for best supporting actor for Christoph Waltz and screenplay for Tarantino. If this is any pre-cursor to the Oscars, I’d be completely let down if ‘Argo‘ takes it all.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great film, but not the best film of the year.  I expect it to and want it to win the best adapted screenplay.  Just my opinion.  Below are the full results from last night’s show.

‘Man of Steel’ Will be 3D!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 7th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

The upcoming Superman film, ‘Man of Steel’ has jest been given the go ahead to be released in 3D.  Smart movie, since 3D ticket prices are significantly higher than normal movie ticket prices.  And with these big epic superhero films, they all want to milk every last penny .  Since Avengers (was in 3D) made over $1 billion and Dark Knight Rises (not in 3D) did not so easily, I think all studios want the extra cash.  Like I said, it’s smart, but not necessarily a great move.  Out of the 100 or so films I have seen in 3D, only two or three of them really made a difference being in 3D.  I doubt this one will as well.  However, if you are a fan of the format, then this should excite you.

Bryan’s Review of ‘The Trouble With The Curve’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 24th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

‘Trouble With The Curve’ is one of the cheesiest films I have seen in recent memory.  If this film were a burger, it would be a triple cheese burger with a side of cheese fries. That’s not to say that it doesn’t have moments of good.  It does, but ‘Trouble With The Curve’ tries to force feed you what you should be feeling and thinking at every moment.  Even with its amazing cast and baseball trivia, ‘Trouble With The Curve’ never slid into home plate to win the game.  Yes, I know that was cheesy, but then, that’s how I felt watching ‘Trouble With The Curve’.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Below is the list of the winners for the 2012 Prime-Time Emmy Award Winners.  I don’t  see how ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Two and Half Men’ win anything.  They shouldn’t win any kind of award when they go up against shows like ‘Mad Men’, ‘Game of Thrones’, and ‘Breaking Bad’.  The Emmy judges need to be fired and never allowed to pick winners ever again.  However, much congratulations to ‘Homeland’, ‘Downton Abbey’, Aaron Paul, ‘Veep’, and ‘American Horror Story’

Bryan’s ‘Mirror Mirror’ Review!!!

Hi, Bryan Here….

I didn’t know what quite to expect from ‘Mirror Mirror’.  I have seen the trailers and have compared them to the other Snow White film coming out this year (Snow White and the Huntsman), and immediately knew that ‘Mirror Mirror’ was the sillier of the two.  Did I hate ‘Mirror Mirror’?  No.  Did I like ‘Mirror Mirror’? No.  ‘Mirror Mirror’ is a foolish yet whimsical film based on Disney’s classic, Snow White.  I have no doubt that ‘Mirror Mirror’ will be eaten up by kids under 12, but if your age is above that of a 6th grader, then you might find yourself angry that you bought a ticket.
