New Music From Jimi Hendrix Coming March 5th!

by NapkinArt on Jan 8th, 2013

Hey Classic Rock fans, Napkin Art Here…

Believe it or not, Jimi Hendrix has a new album of even more unreleased recordings, coming out March 5th, called “People, Hell and Angels” from Experience Hendrix, LLC and Legacy Recordings. But, how can this be?!? The man has been dead for over 40 years!!! He isn’t considered the ‘Greatest Guitarist EVER’ for no reason. Read the rest of this entry »

It is 8 LPs of sheer 180g awesomeness, and if you don’t believe me, pick up a copy and see for yourself!

The Jimi Hendrix ‘Winterland’ box set hit the streets yesterday, and Amazon definitely has the best deal in town. Originally priced at $100 before its release you can now pick up this gem for about $60 if you act now!!! This price won’t last long!!! Dude, think about it…that’s like buying two records at an Indie store and getting the other six LPs for free. Hell yes. But wait, there’s more! By ordering from Amazon you will also receive an exclusive CD with additional unreleased material, which sounds incredible all on its own.

What is more criminal? This steal of the price or the fact these brilliantly sounding gems have been hidden away from the public all these years?!? It’s time your ears hear this material at a price that would even make your accountant happy. However, if vinyl isn’t your thing (and shame on you if it isn’t) the CD version is available at a great price, too.

You guys are no doubt getting excited for the new Jimi Hendrix releases hitting the streets next month, am I right?!?

Most notably, I have my eye on the 8xLP box set of “Hendrix at Winterland”, which everyone should too. However, if you need a Hendrix fix right away, here is a deal for YOU!

The limited edition 7″ vinyl single (with the first 5,000 copies individually crash numbered) is available exclusively from and select independent record stores throughout the United States. The A-Side track features “Johnny B. Goode,” a blistering live performance captured to tape during The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s 1st show on May 30, 1970 at the Berkeley Community Theatre and included on the album Hendrix In The West. The B-Side features a previously unreleased recording of “Purple Haze” recorded on October 10, 1968 during The Experience’s performance at San Francisco’s famed Winterland Ballroom and is exclusive to this limited edition vinyl single.

Jimi Hendrix Box Set Coming Soon (West Coast Seattle Boy)

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 23rd, 2010

West Coast Seattle Boy will be the next compilation album from Jimi Hendrix.  It looks like there will be 4 discs and 1 dvd in this box set with tons and tons of great music and info about the legend.  It is up for pre-order over at AMAZON for $55.99 and will be delivered to you in November, just in time for the holidays.  That is an amazing deal.  The product description is below with  a link and picture so you can pre-order it.

West Coast Seattle Boy – The Jimi Hendrix Anthology tracks Hendrix’s remarkable journey from little known R&B sideman to international stardom through an unprecedented assemblage of previously unavailable recordings.

This long-awaited career-spanning box set is not a collection of existing Jimi Hendrix albums but instead 45 unreleased Jimi Hendrix live and studio recordings including demos and alternate versions of songs from Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold As Love, and Electric Ladyland. West Coast Seattle Boy includes Hendrix’s never before heard version of Bob Dylan’s “Tears Of Rage,” solo acoustic recordings of Electric Ladyland favorites like “Long Hot Summer Night” and “1983 (A Merman I Shall Turn To Be)”as well as never before heard live performances from Berkeley and the legendary Band Of Gypsys Fillmore East concert on New Year’s Eve 1969 combined together with such new Hendrix songs as “Hear My Freedom,” “Hound Dog Blues,” “Lonely Avenue” and more.

The crown jewel of Legacy Recordings’ monumental Jimi Hendrix catalog project, West Coast Seattle Boy – The Jimi Hendrix Anthology is the first Hendrix collection to bring fans access to a comprehensive treasure trove of previously unreleased recordings — including demos, alternate takes, live concert jewels and more — from all phases of the artist’s recording career (1964 -1970).

West Coast Seattle Boy – The Jimi Hendrix Anthology offers the most complete collection of Jimi’s pre-Experience R&B performances (including his singles with the Isley Brothers, Little Richard, Don Covay, King Curtis and more) to ever be officially anthologized while bringing together the most comprehensive and revelatory set of unreleased, fully realized songs, never before heard live performances, alternate studio takes, acoustic and electric demos and other rarities drawn from every chapter of Jimi Hendrix remarkable life and career.

West Coast Seattle Boy – The Jimi Hendrix Anthology includes the 90 minute DVD Jimi Hendrix: Voodoo Child, a new documentary directed by the Grammy award winning Bob Smeaton (Beatles Anthology, Festival Express, Beatles: The Studio Recordings). The acclaimed documentary tells Jimi’s incredible story in his own words. The documentary features some of Jimi’s greatest performances as well as rare and never before seen footage and photos. Jimi Hendrix: Voodoo Child also includes–for the first time ever—examples from the Hendrix family archive of the late guitarist’s personal drawings, postcards home to his father, song drafts, sketches, and lyrics. Jimi’s interviews and private writings shed new insights within the extraordinary life and career of the greatest guitarist of all time.

Gary Moore “Blues For Jimi” Blu-Ray (REVIEW)

by NapkinArt on Oct 24th, 2012

Jonathon K. Here….

First off, you’re probably asking yourself “Who the $%@# is Gary Moore, and why is he playing Jimi Hendrix songs?!?” Sadly and admittedly, I had to ask myself the same thing. Until recently, I had never heard of Moore. As a rock n’ roll connoisseur, I should have been more familiar with a guitar bad ass such as he, but as I say time and time again…the music will find you when it’s supposed to.

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

If there ever was a guitar player besides Jimi Hendrix that should get his own documentary, it should be Eric Clapton. This guy not only produced and created some of the best mix of blues and rock songs, but he did enough cocaine, heroine, and alcohol that would have killed everyone in Bangkok overnight. And those people know how to party with the lady-boys. The documentary is called ‘Eric Clapton: A Life in 12 Bars‘ and will be directed by Lili Fini Zanuck, which sounds like a fake name.

Film Review: ‘Amy’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 7th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Amy Winehouse might have been one of the best all time jazz singers in the world. In fact, I believe she still can hold that title, even almost five years after her death. Her voice was something unlike anyone ever heard and could be in the same league as Etta James, Billie Holiday, and Edith Piaf. In addition to her voice, she was charming, witty, and a ton of fun to be around. You just couldn’t get enough of her likable personality. Unfortunately in 2011, Amy died of alcohol poisoning at the age of 27, making her one of the latest members of the ’27 club’, which Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, and Brian Jones all belong to.

My Lady, let me come with you.
There is no danger. The fighting is over, and... this is personal.

As you wish, My Lady... but I strongly disagree.
I'll be all right, Captain. This is something I must do myself. Besides, Threepio will look after me.
