Getting Deep with ‘Gods of Egypt’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 11th, 2017

Jennifer S., here….

gods-of-egypt-1

Firstly, this is my first real blog post; inspired by the fact that I finally got to view Gods of Egypt.  This was, like many Egyptian Mythology based movies were, a movie that I was looking forward to finally viewing.  I’m uncertain as to why I decided this was the topic I wanted to delve back into writing for, but here it is.  I feel two ways about it.  I’m going to express initially that I enjoyed it from an objective standpoint, it was fun and colorful and full of some interesting effect that got them right as often as they got them wrong… Giant Heads… #BobbleGods.  Now I’m going to express my displeasure, as anyone who has a passing interest in actual mythology realizes, it’s terrible.  The story is anyway, but the plotline is okay… and personally, I feel the message was all wrong about the afterworld.

by Janet White on Feb 26th, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Gods of Egypt - Sphinx

Hot muscled men in shining, defining armor, beautiful women wrapped in silks and armor for the menfolk, and mythology.  Sounds like the makings of greatness, right?  Well, no.  Gods of Egypt opens in a fast push in across Egypt.  Suddenly, Egypt is abruptly ripped apart by war obsessed and power hungry, Set (Gerard Butler).  With his father Osiris (Bryan Brown) and mother Isis (Rachael Blake) deceased, Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) has a journey ahead of him if he hopes to regain his kingdom.

Hey guys, Jana here,

6-lackluster-character-posters-for-alex-proyas-gods-of-egypt

The first look at ‘Gods of Egypt‘ shows us a film that will have it all! Gods, men, action, violence, unlikely pairings and dramatic pauses for witty phrases. Gerard Butler looks amazing, but he’s one angered SOB in this trailer and I can’t wait to see the film! The trailer will have to tide us over though until it hits theaters in February of 2016, just a few short months away!!!

Film Review: ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 12th, 2014

Janet W., Here…

exodus-gods-kings-cast

Exodus: Gods and Kings opened with a brief accounting of the enslavement of the Israelites.  The panoramic shots of the in progress building of Egypt’s statues, pyramids, etc. looked awesome.  I hadn’t enjoyed such detail and expanse since The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

We all know Christian Bale is a busy guy, he was in the Golden Globe winning and Oscar Nominated ‘American Hustle‘. He has 4 projects in varying degrees of completion at the moment. One of these is the Biblical epic of ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’ where Bale takes on a new role as Moses.

Gerard Butler Joins ‘Point Break’ Remake!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 9th, 2014

Jana B. , Here…

Point-Break1

It pains me every time I hear of an existing movie being bastardized with a revamp. The newest title to head to the remake guillotine is 1991’s ‘Point Break‘. I will never be a fan of twisting a fantastic movie from my childhood into drivel, reflecting the current time frame. ‘Point Break‘ adds salt to the remake wound, but also and more importantly, the Patrick Swayze wound. It’s like Hollywood is telling us anything Swayze did was crap. It’s a shorter list to name the movies the remake fairies DON’T have their meat hooks into.
