Star Wars Episode IX does NOT have a director anymore!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 5th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Wait, what? This shit again? Seriously, those Star Wars execs, including Kathleen Kennedy need to get their shit together, because this is the 2nd time in a couple of months this has happened. Back in June, Chris Miller and Phil Lord were let go from the Han Solo spin-off movie mid-way through the shoot for bullshit reasons. They brought on the capable, yet safe director of Ron Howard to finish the job. At least Episode IX wasn’t in full on production yet, but we did know that Colin Trevorrow was set to direct after his huge success on Jurassic World. That is not the case anymore. Trevorrow is out of the director’s seat, leaving Disney and Lucas Film to  find another filmmaker.

Ron Howard Shoots Second on Star Wars Han Solo Film!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 22nd, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

960

It’s official now. Ron Howard has taken over directing duties on the upcoming Star Wars untitled Han Solo spinoff movie. Yesterday, we got the unfortunate news that Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired after creative differences with the studio heads, mainly Kathleen Kennedy and Lawrence Kasdan on the tone of the film. Lord and Miller (The LEGO Movie, 21 Jump Street) spent almost five months making this Han Solo film, but again, were fired for having a different style than what the studio was expecting. It sent fans in an uproar for sure and for good reason. It’s ultra rare that studios will fire directors this late in the game.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 3rd, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Screen Shot 2017-04-03 at 3.40.14 PM

THE FILM

Since the release of ‘The Force Awakens‘, Disney will be releasing a ‘Star Wars‘ film every year for the foreseeable future. Well, it’s been a year since ‘The Force Awakens‘, which means it’s time for another ‘Star Wars‘ film, and luckily for us, we get ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘. I’m so glad that Disney is allowing up and coming, young  filmmakers a chance to have a go at ‘Star Wars‘, because director Gareth Edwards (‘Monsters‘ and ‘Godzilla‘) has knocked it out of the park, even though there were some re-shoots with writer Tony Gilroy (‘Michael Clayton‘ and ‘The Bourne‘ films). This is the ‘Star Wars‘ film we have wanted for a long time, in that we get to see some characters do some truly amazing and badass things that we’ve never seen before, and a return to some of those classic set pieces and ships.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

rogue-one

We have the first trailer for the upcoming ‘Star Wars‘ film that is slated to come out in December. This looks like a movie based on stealing the plans for the original Death Star, which of course takes place before ‘A New Hope‘. The film is directed by Gareth Edwards who gave us ‘Monsters‘ and  the recent ‘Godzilla‘ film. The film stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, and Diego Luna. Judging by this short trailer alone, we can expect great things from this. It looks amazing already.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Godzilla-Resurgence-poster-English1-700x989

The Japanese company, Toho Co, LTD, (responsible for the first monstrosity),has decided to acquiesce to the public demand for more Godzilla! More Godzilla! I mean it was only 2014 when Gareth Edwards directed the last Godzilla pic and it won’t be 2018 until his sequel hits theaters, so writer/director Hideaki Anno has stepped up to fill the void for a project that will hit theaters in Japan in July of 2016.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

sw-logo_featured

Here is some very interesting and shocking news that Deadline is reporting. We all know that J.J. Abrams is directing ‘Star Wars: Episode VII‘, and I was going to assume that he would be making the next episodes as well. I was wrong. It looks like director Rian Johnson is signing the contracts to write and direct Episodes VIII and IX. This means that Abrams will pass the torch after this first film is done to Johnson, who by the way is forty years old. And like all of us, grew up watching Lucas make the original films. This is great news.

Here Is Ben’s Film Review of ‘Godzilla’ (2014)!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 15th, 2014

Ben K., Here…

godzilla-2014-wallpaper-images-photos-0302091031

Despite a rich and incredibly varied film history, one would be hard pressed to imagine a more famous Japanese cinematic export than Godzilla. Born at Toho Company in 1954, he’s still alive and kicking ass, as it were, at the ripe age of sixty. Cast as a villain and a hero over the years, whatever his role, he has always been nature’s favorite solution to just about any problem. Six decades ago he was awakened by atomic bomb testing and took revenge on mankind for creating them. In this new Gareth Edwards iteration, other monsters feed on radiation from our nuclear power plants in order to wreak similar havoc, so Godzilla is sent to annihilate them.

Film Review: ‘Godzilla’ (2014)!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 13th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

godzilla_2014_poster_51784

It has been sixty years since ‘Godzilla‘, the true king of all monsters first graced us with his appearance on the big screen. He definitely made a big impact on audiences around the world and spawned 31 sequels and remakes since then. Director Gareth Edwards brings that number to 32 with his epic and dark toned reboot that is sure to please fans young and old and have them roaring with joy as they exit the theater. Edwards was Hollywood’s top  choice to reboot this franchise after everyone saw his 2010 film called ‘Monsters‘, which focused on two lost lonely souls who have to trek through a quarantined zone in Mexico, while evading giant tentacled monsters.

The New ‘Godzilla’ Trailer is AMAZING!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 11th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…

godzilla2014_poster2

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this movie. I’ve been talking about this ‘Godzilla‘ movie for a while now. The director is Gareth Edwards, you made one of my favorite films of 2010 called ‘Monsters‘. If you saw that movie, you know why he was chosen to reboot ‘Godzilla’, one of the most iconic monsters of all time. If you haven’t seen ‘Monsters’, you need to purchase it pronto.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Godzilla-poster-new

As we’ve reported before, Frank Darabont is hard at work, writing the ‘Godzilla‘ reboot as the studio is rounding out its cast. Last time we checked in, Aaron Johnson (‘Kick-Ass‘) was the top choice to star in the giant lizard remake. However now, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen are being courted to co-star in what seems to be an actual decent project of the iconic monster.

Frank Darabont Will Take On ‘Godzilla’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 7th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

282801_391757277576610_436573020_n

Director Frank Darabont has just been tapped to do a final rewrite for the upcoming ‘Godzilla‘ remake for Legendary Pictures.  Darabont will be working off a treatment by Max Borenstein (The Seventh Son).  This is awesome news.  The guy who directed ‘The Shawshank Redemption’, ‘The Mist‘, ‘The Green Mile‘, and was the showrunner for AMC‘s ‘Walking Dead‘ will take on the giant lizard now.  I can’t wait to see where he takes it for director Gareth Edwards, who directed one of my favorite films of 2010, ‘Monsters‘.

‘Battle Royale’ Might Be Reborn as Series For CW!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 27th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

First off.  Fuck everything about this.  I hope it doesn’t get made.  These people at CW would ruin this story faster than you can say Noriko.  I can’t believe this would even be up for discussion.  A film and story like ‘Battle Royale’ should not be made for network television.  Hell, it shouldn’t even be remade.  It’s a perfect film as it is.  And if these assholes decide to remake it, give the money and talent it deserves.  Not some hack at CW.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Legendary Pictures unveiled on their Facebook page, the new ‘Godzilla’ poster for their reboot of the classic giant monster lizard epic.  We have talked about this project a few times on the site as we are completely excited about it.  We just love that Gareth Edwards is directing this film.  Edwards directed the indie monster film ‘Monsters’, which was one of my favorite films of that year.  READ MY REVIEW HERE.  I know it’s a huge tease, but enjoy the poster and get psyched.

Hi Bryan Here…

I was about 13 years old when Stephen King’s The Stand debuted on primetime television back in 1994.  It has been one of my favorite Stephen King books as well as made for tv adaptations of king’s work to date.  Plus it introduced me to the acting talent of Gary Sinise.  Back then and even today, I thought that The Stand was too BIG for just TV.  I mean it is such an epic story that deserves a huge budget and a silver screen opportunity.  Well it seems like some execs have the same feeling.

Hi Bryan Here…

Now you all know I love monster movies.  All monster movies.  There is just something about the magical world and the possibilities and different survival scenarios in monster movies that just takes me to that next level.  In most of the survival monster movies I have seen, I usually spend the next couple of days realizing my own survival plans and my “what if” scenarios if the film became a reality.  What I would do differently than the characters in the film.  That sort of thing.  I can tell you this though.  This film, “Monsters” is one of the better monster movies to come out in quite some time.  It is deeper, more suspenseful, and scarier than most monster films I have ever seen.
