As original documentaries go, there are thousands of them covering any and all topics you could imagine and probably a lot that you wouldn’t want to imagine. Edward Norton Turns to ‘Motherless Brooklyn’!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Feb 21st, 2014

Jana B. here,

Edward Norton

Edward Norton is an exceptional and compelling actor, writer and filmmaker, and has decided on his next project. Well, he decided 15 years ago, it just took time to get his vision crystal clear before it could be put to celluloid. That time is now. What is this mysterious project, you ask? The film treatment of the Jonathan Lethem novel of critical acclaim, ‘Motherless Brooklyn‘. You know how you read a book and hope someone takes that vision and puts it directly onto screen? Don’t hold your breath for that happening with this novel. While taking the source material mostly straight across there are going to be some major changes. One of those changes is Lethem’s novel takes place in 1999, or at least contemporary New York. Norton is setting his story in 1954, a time of great change in the city.

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 20th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Screen Shot 2016-04-20 at 3.04.37 PM

I had a very fun and lively interview with David Arquette (Scream) and director Asiel Norton for their new film ‘Orion‘ at the Dallas International Film Festival. We discussed making the post-apocalyptic film where Arquette plays a Hunter who rescues a Virgin and tries to save the world. After talking about the film for a little bit, I had to ask David about his career, and that’s where things got fun.

So please, keep it right here during the Oscars and use the hashtag #boomstickcomics when posting to social media. But, let’s talk about predictions for a minute. I’m sure some of you have put some money down on Oscar pools at works or with your friends to see who comes out the winner this year. There were some excellent movies this year along with some amazing performances, so needless to say, this year will be extremely difficult to predict.

Hi Bryan Here….

We have done quite a bit of coverage on this project over the last few months.  At one point David O. Russell was slated to be the director of the adapted video game, but dropped out.  Since Russell dropped out, Sony has been hot and heavy in pursuit of a new director.  Needless to say they have high hopes and intentions for this film.  Well, Sony finally has decided on a director, and he is Neil Burger.

These movies have touched us in some way and have helped shaped our creative lives. Maybe this list will inspire you to make your own list and share it with us. Film Review: ‘American Assassin’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 15th, 2017

Dan M. here…

You can’t make an action movie like this in 2017 and expect anyone to be impressed with it. Not when studios crank out Bourne, Bond, John Wick, Atomic Blonde, The Raid, etc. Those are movies that execute things at such a high level with passable stories that at least allow you to buy into the character. Hell, even Jack Reacher had some self-awareness to it that made the shrug-worthy, ridiculous, sequel mildly enjoyable. American Assassin is an all-around pretty bad movie but it does have a few bright spots. It honestly felt like the writers watched a Bourne movie, then got high, and played 3 hours of Call of Duty on easy difficulty before putting pen to paper.

Movie Quotes

Mullroy:
[as Jack is taking his effects] There has definitely been a breakdown in discipline aboard this vessel.
Murtogg:
I blame the fish-people.
Mullroy:
[Sarcastically] Ohh, so fish-people, by dint of being fish-people are less disciplined than non-fish-people?
Murtogg:
[as Jack is taking the chest] It seems contributory.
Murtogg:
Of course, if there were no fish-people, then there would be no need to guard the chest.
Mullroy:
And if there were no chest, then we wouldn't need to be here to guard it.
[both realise that the chest is gone and the apparent danger they're in]
