Blu-ray Review: ‘Woodshock’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 27th, 2017

THE FILM

Kirsten Dunst is back at it again in ‘Woodshock‘, which is a hypnotic and murderous thriller with a unique visual style from Kate and Laura Mulleavy. Who are the Mulleavy sisters? Well they are fashion designers who made this film, which of course looks amazing from start to finish, but might lack some story and character development. Still, it’s an interesting watch and one that you might be talking about when you decide to take part in smoking a joint with your friends next time.

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

Someone alert Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise again. Anne Rice has the theatrical rights to her ‘Vampire Chronicles‘ once again and looks to make a TV Series and maybe even more movies. Anne Rice released here first book on the vampire lore back in 1976 with ‘Interview with The Vampire‘, which had a sequel book in 1985 titled ‘The Vampire Lestat‘. Warner Bros. got the rights shortly after and made the Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt film, which made over $220 million. Not exactly a light-weight.

Hey guys, Jana here,

The 1971 Clint Eastwood flick, ‘The Beguiled‘ is heading towards a remake by director Sofia Coppola. But who do you replace Clint Eastwood with? Dirty Harry has a unique presence on-screen and he’s not so easy to replace, but it is possible to do, as the Coen’s discovered with 2010’s ‘True Grit‘. Jeff Bridges won’t be the go-to for Eastwood’s role, but Colin Farrell is stepping into Eastwood’s amputee boots.

Film Review: ‘Midnight Special’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 17th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

maxresdefault

I’m a complete sucker for the sci-fi genre, and as of very recent years, we’ve seen an uptick in solid, satisfying sci-fi movies of all kinds. However, the original ones from our childhood of the 70s and 80s always come back to us once or twice a year to warm the nostalgic feelings. I’m of course speaking of ‘E.T.‘, ‘Starman‘, ‘Blade Runner‘, and ‘Close Encounters of Third Kind‘. All of those films have made a significant impact on a bunch of people’s creative and personal lives. There have been too few films that have reached this caliber of moviemaking, but Jeff Nichols’s film ‘Midnight Special‘ might just have a spot at the top with these greats, despite a few minor flaws.

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 15th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

jumanji1

We’ve known for a while that one of the late Robin Williams’ movies is being remade, now there’s serious movement on the horizon for ‘Jumanj‘. Sony has signed Jake Kasdan to direct the re-imagining. Kasdan comes from comedy roots with writer/director credits from both TV and film including a handful of episodes of ‘Freaks and Geeks‘, ‘Bad Teacher‘ and ‘Sex Tape‘.

And the 2016 Golden Globe Nominees Are….

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 10th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

The awards show is January 10 on NBC hosted by Ricky Gervais. First off, let’s look at something AWESOME here. ‘MAD MAX: FURY ROAD‘ is nominated for BEST PICTURE. It needs to win. It should win. And if does win, we all go streaking. That being said…I can’t believe that ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl‘ was not nominated for anything. Come on. It’s one of the BEST films of the year. It’s also interesting to see no love for the final season of ‘Mad Men’ her either. Oh well.

Here is the list of nominees:

It looks like Michael Myers will be back at killing people in theaters sooner than later. After all, killing is his business, and business is good. (I’ll show myself out.) That’s right, folks. Dimension Films is making yet another ‘Halloween‘ movie based off of John Carpenter’s original story.

Wesley Gibson:
[half-asleep] What is it?
Cathy:
What do you mean what is it? Listen.
[subway train passes by and shakes the entire apartment]
Cathy:
How the hell am I supposed to sleep with all that fucking racket? When are we going to move so that we don't have to wake up to that shit?
Wesley Gibson:
I kind of like it.
[voice-over]
Wesley Gibson:
It helps to drown out the sound of your annoying fucking voice. Now please, let me sleep.
