by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 16th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…..

BBC has announced the arrival of the 13th Doctor for the famed Doctor Who television series. Taking over the role from the departing Peter Capaldi is none other than Jodie Whittaker, who is the first woman to take on the Doctor role in the sci-fi series. Whittaker is in Broadchurch and was the main woman in the excellent Attack the Block movie from a few years ago.

Hey guys, Jana here,

mvsyagnxsseia2te2kkl

In the large series run of ‘Doctor Who‘, the actor that embodies the companion is almost, if not, more important than the actor we see on our screens that we call “The Doctor” for a few seasons. Go into any chat room dedicated to BBC’s ‘Doctor Who‘ and you’ll find at least one discussion thread that debates the best companion. To get into that discussion, it would depend on if we’re talking about “Classic Who” or “New Who”, I sound like Dr. Seuss about now but there are layers to a good debate about companions.

‘Doctor Who’ Will Continue For Another 5 YEARS!!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Apr 7th, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

13_doctors__but_to_me_12__facebook_timeline_by_butters101-d7a93h1

Fandoms are made up of the most loyal, imaginative and awesome people the world-over. I’m proud to say I am the poster-child of the Super-Who-Potter-Lock order, throw in some Tolkien, Browncoats and comic book heroes/antiheroes (DC please!),  My Little Pony, and you know a small portion of what my brain contains, the rest is full of song lyrics, guitar riffs, Monty Python quotes and the list of people I want to have hot, crazy, balls-to-the-wall  sex with. I said all that to say this, we’re a devoted bunch of people and the possible cancellation of one of our series can result in an agonizing war-cry heard the world-over  (‘Firefly‘ flash-backs, anyone?)

Upcoming Season Schedule For ‘Doctor Who’!!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 18th, 2014

Hello, Whovians! Jana here,

keep-calm-and-wait-5-days-for-doctor-who-5

We’ve been patient and now it’s time to reap the rewards that come with it. Of course, I’m talking ‘Doctor Who‘ here, so this means the rewards are going to be mixed with equal amounts of pain, heartache and probably unending sobs that have you gasping “Why me?” while you shake uncontrollably trying to hold it together and reminding yourself that it’s just a TV show. One thing that’s awesome about ‘Doctor Who‘ is that it’s a fantastic and witty show that inspires allegiance and love among its fans.

Peter Capaldi Walks Away From ‘Doctor Who’!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Apr 1st, 2014

Hello, Jana here,

Benedict-in-Screen-Magazine-04-2013-benedict-cumberbatch-33870098-1280-1549[1]

BBC’sSherlock‘ is one of the best shows currently airing. One of the reasons is the witty banter between characters, another reason is who plays one of those characters, Benedict Cumberbatch. One of the bad things with being a fan of ‘Sherlock‘ is that our viewing season is only 3-4 episodes long, and we have to wait a bloody long time just to get those! We put up with it because the option of not having those few episodes is ultimately, far worse than the waiting.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Author Neil Gaiman will pen another script for ‘Doctor Who‘.  Gaiman won a Hugo Award for his 2011 episode of ‘Doctor Who’ titled ‘The Doctor’s Wife’.  Now, Steven Moffat, the series executive producer has announced that Gaiman will return to write an episode for the current season that will feature the return of Cyberman, the vicious cyborg (much like cylons) enemies.

Hi Bryan Here….

Anything ‘Doctor Who’, count me in.  Ever since BBC decided to revamp the series, it has created a mass fan base and has become, for the second time, a huge cult classic.  I was very excited to watch the first seven episodes of Season Six of ‘Doctor Who’.  Such an imaginative, creative, and fun as all hell television series.  Having ‘Doctor Who’ on blu-ray in Hi-Def is like having chocolate cake covered in Lucky Charms every day for two years.  It’s that amazing.  Highest possible recommendation on this release from Warner.

Doctor Who Season 6 To Take Place in America

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 11th, 2010

BBC’s amazing Doctor Who show will be filming in America for the first time ever.

Upcoming season’s first two episodes to be set in the U.S.

The BBC announced today that season six of Doctor Who, which delivered record ratings for BBC AMERICA earlier this year, will open with a spectacular two-parter set in the U.S. and penned by ‘Who supremo’ Steven Moffat.

In the special two-parter co-produced with BBC AMERICA, key scenes will be filmed in Utah for a story set in the late ‘60s in which the Doctor, Amy and Rory find themselves on a secret summons that takes them on an adventure from the desert in Utah – right to the Oval Office itself.

Production on episodes one and two of the new season starts in Cardiff this month and Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill will then travel to America in mid November to shoot pivotal scenes. They will also be joined by Alex Kingston who reprises her role as River Song.

Showrunner and lead writer, Steven Moffat, said: “The Doctor has visited every weird and wonderful planet you can imagine, so he was bound get round to America eventually! And of course every Doctor Who fan will be jumping up and down and saying he’s been in America before. But not for real, not on location – and not with a story like this one! Oh, you wait!”

Piers Wenger, Head of Drama BBC Wales and Executive Producer, added: “Steven’s scripts generally inspire us to go that extra mile – this time we’re going that extra four thousand. Thanks to our friends at BBC AMERICA and to the continuing ambition of our lead writer and production team, the first two episodes of Matt Smith’s second season as the Doctor are going global and look set to become Doctor Who’s most action-packed and ambitious season opener yet.”

The new season follows on from the Doctor Who Christmas special guest starring Katherine Jenkins and Michael Gambon which is due to premiere during the holiday season. Season six will start airing on BBC AMERICA in spring 2011 and has been split into two blocks, with the second block airing in autumn 2011. By splitting the series Moffat plans to give viewers one of the most exciting Doctor Who cliffhangers and plot twists ever, leaving them waiting, on the edge of their seats, until the autumn to find out what happens.

2010 has been a breakthrough year for the Doctor Who franchise across all platforms since BBC AMERICA became the official home of the series. The series reached the number one spot on the “Top TV Seasons” chart on iTunes and now Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Season hits stores on Blu-ray and DVD on November 9.

Doctor Who was co-commissioned by Ben Stephenson, Controller, BBC Drama Commissioning for BBC One and Jay Hunt, Controller of BBC One and will be produced by Marcus Wilson (Life on Mars) and Sanne Wohlenberg (Margaret). Steven Moffat is Lead Writer and Executive Producer (Sherlock Holmes) with Piers Wenger, Head of Drama, BBC Wales and Beth Willis (Ashes to Ashes), also Executive Producing.

Filming is taking place in Cardiff until March 2011.

Back in 2013, horror master Stephen King released the novel ‘Doctor Sleep‘, which was his sequel to ‘The Shining‘. It was only a matter of time before we got a movie adaptation of it. So here we are in 2018 and it looks like Warner Bros. is developing the project at full steam ahead. Mike Flanagan has been set to write and direct the film. Flanagan is a horror filmmaker himself, where he got his start with the films ‘Oculus‘ and ‘Hush‘.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Doctor Strange’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 28th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

61HRk7rEWAL

THE FILM

The next franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes with mystical and magical powers in ‘Doctor Strange‘, which is a damn good start to this new character. ‘Doctor Strange‘ was created by Steve Ditko and first appeared in Strange Tales #110 back in 1963. ‘Doctor Strange‘ or Stephen Strange is a highly intelligent surgeon who is in the top of his field. In an accident, he loses the use of his hands, which leads him to seek out alternate methods of healing. This brings him to a mystical and magical place across the globe where he meets ‘The Ancient One’ amongst other sorcerers that help him heal spiritually and physically.
