Dec/2019

Paul Thomas Anderson and Daniel Day Lewis are back at it again with a new film called ‘Phantom Thread‘, which is set to release on Christmas later this year. I’m quite sure the film, along with both Lewis and Anderson will be nominated for all the Oscars. Of course, Anderson brought us ‘Boogie Nights‘ all those years ago and has continued to bring us amazing films over the years. He even teamed with Daniel Day Lewis with ‘There Will Be Blood‘, which is still talked about today, milkshakes and all.

Hi Bryan Here….

I’ve been hearing about Spielberg’s Lincoln project for a long time now.  Finally, I get an image that makes every thing right.  FIrst he was Bill The Butcher, then he was Mr. Plainview, and now he is Lincoln.  Looking good.  Your thoughts?

Bohemian Rhapsody

Imagine if someone made a Beatles movie but Ringo was the one who had the final say in every plot point? That’s what you get here. Surviving band members doing everything they can to make sure you recognize it wasn’t just Freddie Mercury in Queen. Guess what? We know that bu we don’t care.

Criterion Blu-ray Review: ‘I, Daniel Blake’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 23rd, 2018

THE FILM

For more than 50 years, Ken Loach (KES) has been making films that cause us to think about our current political and social climates, no matter what race your are or where you come from, because a lot of us suffer from the same overall issues, whether it be medically, financially, or a corrupt government. Loach has never been shy to show any of these topics in his films over the years as well as in real life interviews. If you’ve ever attended a screening a film festival or movie where Loach is the director behind the movie, you will immediately know what you’re in for, which is usually a story of someone being beat by the system, despite all of the honest and good things they do. His film I, Daniel Blake is no different, which isn’t a bad thing.

Mustang‘ director Deniz Gamze Erguven plans to break the language barrier with her first English language picture, ‘Kings‘. The setting for ‘Kings‘ is the tension-mounted Los Angeles scene during the Rodney King trial in 1992 which resulted in mass rioting after the policemen who were captured on tape beating King received an acquittal.  The story that will be told inside that setting will be dramatic and touching and told by lead actors Daniel Craig and Halle Berry.

Mike, Here…

wwe-hell-in-a-cell-ppv-wallpaper

There is a dark cloud of reality hanging over this Sunday’s Hell in a Cell

It started moving in last month, when Sting faced Seth Rollins in the main event at Night of Champions.

The story was that the Vigilante Sting, WCW’s greatest icon and the last soldier of the Monday Night War, magically appeared to challenge Rollins for the WWE Championship. Admittedly, he had already magically appeared once only to lose to Triple H, so there was slightly less magic than advertised. but Sting seemed to be enjoying himself and Rollins sold the idea of Sting being threatening well enough to make their match-up compelling.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Most everyone is familiar with the game ‘Grand Theft Auto‘. It encourages the player to immerse themselves into a fantasy, criminal underworld where jacking cars is a necessity and shooting rival gangsters, cops, or prostitutes is fair game. When you have a game that envelops that kind of violence, it naturally draws opposition. That opposing voice comes from parents being concerned about the content their children are absorbing, it comes from politicians pandering to the voters while touting negative values as a direct result of exposure to GTA. Each of those voices has one thing in common, their desire to ban the game.

Hillary T.’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Review!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 22nd, 2014

Hillary T., Here…

X-Men-Days-of-Future-Past-Movie-Poster

I am a Marvel girl. I am. But after the last ensemble X-Men movie (Last Stand), I was devastated at what had become of my beloved mutant team. Then, First Class came out, which gave me a lot of hope. Then they announced Bryan Singer would return to direct the next installment. Dare I get my hopes up more? Then they shared the “Days of Future Past” storyline. I was instantly hooked. The cast started rolling in, and I got even more hopeful and well, I was really happy after the first preview. It looked good, even great.

Movie Quotes

Warden Samuel Norton:
[after Andy escapes] Well?
Red:
Well what?
Warden Samuel Norton:
I see you two all the time, you're thick as thieves, you are. He musta said *something*.
Red:
Honest, Warden, not a word.
Warden Samuel Norton:
[frustrated] Lord, it's a miracle! Man up and vanished like a fart in the wind! Nothing left but some damn rocks on the windowsill. And that cupcake on the wall! Let's ask her, maybe she knows.
Warden Samuel Norton:
[to poster] What say you there, fuzzy-britches? Feel like talking? Aw, guess not. Why should she be any different?
[hefting one of Andy's rocks]
Warden Samuel Norton:
This is a conspiracy, that's what it is.
[throwing rocks]
Warden Samuel Norton:
One... big... damn conspiracy! And everyone's in on it, including *her*!
[Throws a rock at the poster, the rock goes right through it and they hear it clattering. Norton puts his arm through the torn poster and rips it away from the wall, revealing Andy's escape tunnel.]
