Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Army-of-Darkness-Poster

Most of you already know that my favorite movie of all time is in fact ‘Army of Darkness‘. It has been my favorite movie since I first saw it back in 1993 where I thought Bruce Campbell could do no wrong. He still hasn’t. ‘Army of Darkness‘ just has everything you’d ever want in a movie, whether it be thrills, chills, one-liners, romance, a chainsaw, or a boomstick. Hell, I even named my comic book store in Dallas, Boomstick Comics after the film. Needless to say, my house is packed with signed posters, books, action figures, and literally every VHS, DVD, and Blu-release of this movie. I think I own this movie and the other ‘Evil Dead‘ films 20 times over now.

Film Review: ‘Evil Dead’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 4th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

evil-dead-remake

My name is Bryan Kluger and I’m an ‘Evil Dead-aholic’.  One of my life defining moments in film was the very first time I saw ‘Army of Darkness‘. It was on VHS right when it was released on home video in the early 90s. It blew my fragile mind. I never knew a film could exist that had everything I ever wanted in a movie in the span of 90 minutes. It had thrills, monsters, demons, romance, comedy, action, a boomstick and a chainsaw. What else could someone want? I had to find out everything I could about this movie and soon figured out there were two film that proceeded it. Those films were ‘The Evil Dead‘ and ‘The Evil Dead II‘.

I’m going to stand out here and yell it. I believe Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 film ‘2001 A Space Odyssey‘ is one of the greatest if not THE GREATEST movie of all time. I mean it doesn’t hold a candle to ‘Army of Darkness‘, because that’s in its own category of greatness, but for all other films, ‘2001 A Space Odyssey‘ is right at the top of the list. Kubrick was known for making movies in different genres, time periods, and subject matters. He never did the same thing twice. With ‘2001‘, he went to the past and jumped right into the future with perhaps the biggest time jump out of any piece of cinema.

‘The Evil Dead’ 4K UHD Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 11th, 2018

Perhaps the best horror film of all time and most certainly the most magnificent cult film of all time that gave us Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi to the world – ‘The Evil Dead‘ from 1981 is truly an extraordinary movie. This super low budget film with tons of gore spawned two sequels, a remake, and even a very successful 3-season tv series on Starz, not to mention countless toys, comics, and video games based off the film. Sam Raimi was just in his 20s when he made this movie with his family and friends, all shot on location in the middle of the woods, much to the chagrin of the actors. They powered through it and it became a huge success with big financing for a movie of this caliber and a winning review from the horror master himself Stephen King.

THE FILM

Back in 2009, the brilliant filmmaker Sam Raimi journeyed back to his horror roots and made a fun-as-hell horror-comedy film called ‘Drag Me To Hell‘. For those of you who don’t remember who Sam Raimi is, movies like ‘Evil Dead II‘, ‘Army of Darkness‘, ‘The Spider-Man Trilogy‘, and ‘Darkman‘ are some of his accomplishments. Raimi and his brother and frequent collaborator Ivan Raimi had an idea for a horror film called ‘The Curse‘, but when Raimi booked the ‘Spider-Man‘ gig, that film was put on hold for the next decade. After ‘Spider-Man 3‘ was released, Sam and Ivan went quickly back to their idea to work on a low budget horror film again, which turned into ‘Drag Me To Hell’.

Tis the season to be thankful for many things. Family, friends, food, jobs, and Bruce Campbell. It’s Thanksgiving time and we here at Boomstick Comics just love movies. We love everything about them. Even the bad ones. While you’re eating those delicious bites of Turkey, watching ‘Charlie Brown Thanksgiving‘ or the Dallas Cowboys Game, we want to share with you some movies that we are thankful for. These movies have touched us in some way and have helped shaped our creative lives. Maybe this list will inspire you to make your own list and share it with us. These are the movies we are thankful for and dearly love.

WWE: Money in the Bank 2017 Predictions!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 16th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

WWE_MITB_2017_Poster

Strung 20 feet high over the center of squared circle, there hangs a metal briefcase with a contract inside. That contract guarantees one WWE superstar a match at anytime, anywhere for the biggest championship in the business. On July 18th in 2010, WWE held their first ever Money in the Bank PPV held in Kansas City, which was met with an abundant amount of praise. The WWE superstars must climb a very tall ladder and unhook the briefcase to win the match. There are no rules, no disqualifications, and all weapons and interferences are legal.

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 6th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

catchup_2560x1440

October is just three months away, which means ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead‘ Season 2 is coming to Starz again. All I can say is “GROOVY”! Well, I can also say that I can’t wait for this second season, because the first season was so good, and it had everything I ever wanted in a show, including blood, monsters, demons, romance, and Bruce Campbell. (Take a deep breath.) Sorry, I got excited. Starz has unveiled a Season 2 trailer and it looks damn good. I might just put season one on loop along with ‘Army of Darkness‘ until then to prepare for the next season. Enjoy the new trailer.

TV Show Review: ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’ Ep. 1!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 26th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

maxresdefault

Ever since the mid 90’s, which was when I was introduced to Bruce Campbell and ‘Army of Darkness‘, I’ve chosen to live a life that as both of these elements in them. I have a variety of artwork, books, props, and every home video release of the ‘Evil Dead‘ trilogy sitting on my shelf, not to mention clothing and other movie artifacts. I even named my comic book store and media outlet ‘Boomstick Comics‘, which you’ve all been coming to and reading about entertainment for the past six years. Needless to say, this movie franchise has definitely had a profound effect on me.

Bloodsucking Bastards‘ is coming to the big screen, well select big screens, at least. The film is in one of my absolute favorite categories – Horror-Comedy. ‘Shaun of the Dead‘, ‘Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil‘, ‘Zombieland‘, ‘Army of Darkness‘…I could go on and on and on, but I’ll stop.

The Best Trailer You’ll See is ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 10th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

11070925_426786627503135_1142696551623537268_n

Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up. The full-length trailer for ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead‘ series on Starz is finally here, which debuted at Comic Con. This is basically the sequel to ‘Army of Darkness‘ we have all been waiting for and it looks like it’s going to be the best show to even air on pay cable. Bruce ‘man-god’ Campbell is in great shape and still has the Ash character down pact. This looks scary, funny as hell, gory, entertaining, and chock full of glorious one-liners that I just don’t know what I’ll do until the series airs this Fall. So grab your chainsaw and Boomstick and enjoy this Incredible trailer. I’ve watched it more than a baker’s dozen times already.
