Hey guys, Jana here,

Jenny Mollen is a fantastic writer capturing America’s heart, (especially her husband’s Jason Biggs) and attention with her irreverent stories, ‘I Like You Just The Way I Am‘, and her latest book, ‘Live Fast Die Hot‘. The latter of the two is what’s being discussed today as it’s been purchased by Warner Bros. for adaptation to the big screen with Anne Hathaway attached to star.

Hey guys, Jana here,

PicMonkey Collage123

In a move that will surely have people claiming that Hollywood is trying to ruin their childhood, and why can’t they just leave it alone, along with my favorite – are there no original ideas anymore? Comes the announcement that Warner Bros. is revamping ‘Ocean’s Eleven‘ with ‘Ocean’s Ocho‘. Of course there’s a twist – the cast consists of women. If you’re claiming the George Clooney led ‘Ocean’s Eleven‘ from 2001 doesn’t deserve a reboot, just remember that film was a reboot of the ‘Ocean’s 11’ ensemble original from 1960. Frank Sinatra was Danny Ocean and was surrounded by his rat pack buddies. So go ahead, take a few minutes and get the whining out of your system, I can wait.

Film Review: ‘Be My Cat: A Film for Anne’!!

by Janet White on Nov 29th, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

be-my-cat-adrian

Direct from the twisted cerebral cortex of director, writer, and star Adrian Tofei, is Be My Cat: A Film for Anne. A tale so demented yet potentially realistic about obsession as seen through the eyes of a psychopath. Tofei’s goal (as the lead character is himself) is to woo Anne Hathaway to be the star of his film. How do you ask? By filming a “documentary” about the film including the casting process. Unwittingly three women, Sonia Teodoriu, Florentina Hariton, and Alexandra Stroe, will participate in his lunacy and suffer the consequences. Read the rest of this entry »

‘Ocean’s 8’ 4K UHD Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 27th, 2018

At some point recently, Hollywood decided to start remaking movies that came out not too long ago with all-female casts for the sake of just being all-female casts. It never goes over well, at least thus far. The most recent terrible remake was ‘Ocean’s 8‘, a remake of the ‘Ocean‘ trilogy that starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon amongst others.

UPGRADE

Upgrade is an excellent 90 minute Black Mirror episode. If you enjoy action movies or anything sci-fi I suggest checking out this quiet little movie before it leaves theaters. The basic plot is in the near future a guy has his spine severed when he and his wife get attacked by a group of men. After becoming a quadriplegic, he undergoes an experimental procedure that puts an AI chip in his spine. This chip gives him some superhuman abilities and senses which he uses to hunt down his wife’s killers.

Film Review: ‘Ocean’s 8’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 8th, 2018

Ocean’s 8 is an enjoyable heist movie, but it brought a fresh spin to the screen for the franchise, and for that reason it’s in the running for my favorite of the films. An all-female cast can come off pretty campy (hey Sex and the City), but when it’s done well (I see you Pitch Perfect), each character brings their own sass and charm to the screen. Oceans does just that, with each of the stars carrying their weight and adding a spark to the role they play as part of the heist team. No one out shined the other; they truly worked as a unit, which I think overall the Ocean films have tried to do. Clooney carried the day in the male led films, but here, all the women brought it.

4K UHD Review: ‘The Dark Knight Rises’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 2nd, 2018

THE FILM

The threats of terrorism, war, chaos, and financial ruin are all too real these days.  ’The Dark Knight Rises’ dives into these issues on a massive scale, which makes any film in the Marvel universe look like mere “child’s play” (no reference to a knife-wielding murderous doll).  Compared with the other Batman movies, everything is bigger in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and there is so much more at stake.  Not one second of this film is wasted, the writing and direction is straight to the point, cohesive, and comes across as totally fulfilling in its 164 minute run-time.

Favorite Movies of 2017!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 27th, 2017

Was 2017 a great year for movies? Of course it was. There were some excellent films to be released in 2017. There were also some bad ones for sure, but the focus on this article are some of the Best films that stuck with me long after viewing. Most people will give you their Top 10 list, but this is no Top 10, because there are just so many movies that I loved and feel passionate about, that I find it difficult and unpleasing to rank them.

Instead, these are my favorite movies of 2017, which I hope you’ve seen already. If you haven’t yet, you’re in for a real treat and I can’t wait for you to see them. Some of these films are still in theaters, while some are on Netflix, 4K UHD, and Blu-ray, so you’ll be able to quickly see any of these if you haven’t. I watched over 270 movies that were released in 2017 and these are my absolute favorites. I hope you get to see all of these, because I know you’ll love them. In no particular order…..

Ocean’s 8 Full movie Trailer is Here!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 19th, 2017

We’ve been hearing for a while that there will be a full female film called ‘Ocean’s 8‘, which will coincide with the ‘Ocean’s 11‘ movies. In fact, Sandra Bullock will play Danny Ocean’s (George Clooney) sister with Cate Blanchett playing the role that Brad Pitt played in the trilogy of movies. It looks to be set in the same universe and stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, with Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter. There will be many other cameos as well, including Matt Damon, reprising his role as Linus.

If you’re like me, then you have grown to love filmmaker Christopher Nolan over the years. Come December 19th, most of his films will be released on 4K UHD for the first time ever. The films include the ‘Dark Knight Trilogy‘, ‘Inception‘, ‘The Prestige‘, ‘Interstellar‘, and the recent ‘Dunkirk‘. Each film will come with HDR as well, meaning a richer and deeper looking image for each movie. Each film will feature extras, the standard Blu-ray Disc, and Digital Copies of each movie. The whole collection will retail at about $150 with the ‘Dark Knight Trilogy‘ retailing at around $70. Of course with the holidays coming up, expect big discounts everywhere for these.

Film Review: ‘Colossal’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 30th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

anne-hathaway-colossal-2

Filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo has certainly etched his name in stone in the genre arena of cinema. With films like ‘Timecrimes‘, ‘Extraterrestrial‘, and some shorts in ‘V/H/S Viral‘ and ‘ABC’s of Death‘, the Spanish filmmaker has made a name for himself for executing original ideas with heart and meaning behind whatever sci-fi or horror backdrop he uses. Not many people have done as great a job as he has on a consistent basis, while providing excellent characters and monsters all in the same film. Whenever there is a film with Nacho Vigalondo’s name attached to it, you need to run to the theater, grab your favorite candy and simply enjoy what’s about to be shown, because you won’t be forgetting it anytime soon.
