Blu-ray Review: The Big Sick!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 27th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

THE FILM

The Film portion is written by Beka Perlstein:

If The Big Sick isn’t on your must see movie list, do yourself a favor and rewrite the list. This film is the real life love story of how actor/comedian Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley) met his girlfriend and (spoiler alert) now wife, Emily Gordon. It’s not another Fault in Our Stars or Me Before You, it’s so much more than a love sick story. Behind the romantic comedy model is a story about a Pakistani immigrant who is struggling with identity, relationships, family, career and religion. To put it simply- he’s just trying to figure out this thing we call life.

Hey guys, Jana here,

themonster_bd_3dFrom the director of ‘The Strangers‘ comes another movie that gets you in touch with fear at a very primal level, ‘The Monster‘. Bryan Bertino knows how to generate amazing scares on the big screen, the aforementioned Strangers had me double and triple checking locks for weeks because I was sufficiently spooked. The trailer for ‘The Monster‘ looks to hit me even moreso right in the feels because of the mother/child aspect.

Film Review: ‘What If’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 7th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

I was very excited to see this new romantic comedy ‘What If‘, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Zoe Kazan, and Adam Driver. I even might have mentioned that it had one of the funniest trailers I had seen in a while, which you can see below. ‘What If‘ answers or at least tries to answer that age old question, “Can a man and a woman just be friends?” This concept is definitely not new and has been seen many times before, specifically in the hit comedy ‘When Harry Met Sally‘, which starred a young Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan.

You Must Watch The ‘What If’ Trailer!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 3rd, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

What-If-600x650

Mark the movie ‘What If‘ at the top of my list of movies to see this year. This trailer is great. ‘What If‘ is a romantic comedy starring Daniel Radcliffe (‘Harry Potter’), Zoe Kazan (‘Ruby Sparks’), Adam Driver (‘Girls’), and Rafe Spall (‘Hot Fuzz’). It’s a story we’ve seen before, but this looks like it’s done perfectly. Basically, Radcliffe plays Wallace who falls in love with a new girl named Chantry (Kazan), but quickly finds out she has a boyfriend. So it’s kind of a wrong-place, wrong-time type scenario.

Bill Murray Joins HBO Miniseries ‘Olive Kitteridge’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 20th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

bill-murray2

Bill Murray doesn’t do a whole lot of television anymore, but he has made an exception for HBO’s new miniseries ‘Olive Kitteridge‘, which is based on the award winning novel by Elizabeth Strout. The project will be directed by Lisa Cholodenko (‘The Kids Are All Right‘) and tells the story of a quaint town in New England where crime and steamy affairs happen between everyone. All is chronicled through the eyes of Olive, who will be played by Frances McDormand.

Bryan’s Top 20 Films of 2012!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 31st, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

I can’t believe that 2012 is at its end and we are about to welcome 2013.  This year has gone by so fast, and man, did I see tons of films.  When I started making this 2012 list, I came up with 87 films that I enjoyed.  Yes, you read that right, 87, meaning there were probably just as many films that I didn’t enjoy.  Now, below is my top 20 of the year. I just couldn’t do it with 10 this year.  And these are films that I watched in the theater or at home and that don’t necessarily come out this year, but I did see this year.  And I’m sure I’ll get a lot of criticism for my list, but hey this is my list, not yours.  You can have your own.  But my lists tend to be different than most people’s as you can tell from my previous lists HERE. So without any further delay, below is my TOP 20 films for 2012.

Bryan Reviews ‘Ruby Sparks’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 2nd, 2012

Hi. Bryan Here….

‘Ruby Saprks’ is a great follow up film from the directors of ‘Little miss Sunshine’ that is an adventure of a writer and his creative process which comes to life…literally.  Zoe Kazan wrote an exceptionally great script, and with the help of directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, ‘Ruby Sparks’ hits every beat.
