Blu-Ray Review: ‘Wreck It Ralph’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 5th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

71ftUaLkCGL._AA1015_

Wreck-It Ralph‘ is one hell of a fun and entertaining movie. Not only will the little kids enjoy this, but adults will eat this up too.  Disney has done a a great job with their 3D animated comedy to start the holiday season.  The amazing voice cast, the video game references, the characters and storyline can all compete with the likes of any Pixar film.  Well, I guess you can get a phenomenal film when you have John Lasseter executive produce and Rich Moore direct.  Moore has directed tons of episodes of ‘The Simpsons’ and just about every episode of ‘Futurama’, so you know this will be a funny and intelligent film done right.

Check Out The New Trailer for ‘Wreck It Ralph’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 11th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

The new trailer for ‘Wreck it Ralph’ looks all sort of cool.  Disney is doing something right with this film.  “Ralph (John C. Reilly) is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer), the “good guy” star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero. On his quest, he meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (Jane Lynch) from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty. But it’s the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realize his dream and save the day before it’s too late?”    Enjoy the trailer.

Hi Bryan Here….

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ from Disney is sounding awesome.  The new CG animated Disney film looks to be about a bad villain in a video game who wants to prove he can be a good guy.  Now that just sounds AWESOME.  The press releases says it will be a simple 8-bit video game.  Oh nostalgia.  Sounds like ‘Toy Story’ with a little bit of the ‘Scott Pilgrim’ mixed in.  This could be really good.  Plus it already has some great actors lending their voices for the animated film including: John C. Reilly, Sarah Silveman, Jane Lynch, and Jack McBrayer.  Read the entire press release below.

Blu-ray Review: ‘101 Dalmatians’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 10th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

61LcbbHAp-L

THE FILM

If it weren’t for ‘101 Dalmatians‘, we might not have had any more Disney animated films, including ‘The Lion King‘ or even ‘Wreck it Ralph‘. Back in 1959, ‘Sleeping Beauty‘ failed to live up to expectations and didn’t make enough money for Disney to do another project. In fact, it got so bad at Disney, that people were being let go and the studio doors were on the verge of being shut for good. Can you imagine that? No more Disney animated films after 1959? I know I can’t.

Film Review: ‘Big Hero Six’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 6th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Disney’s CG animation department is on a huge winning streak. With the success of ‘Wreck It Ralph‘ and ‘Frozen‘, Disney is back in the animation game after a long absence while Pixar did their thing. Dinsey’s latest animated adventure is called ‘Big Hero 6‘, and is based off an old Marvel Comics title. I can safely say that ‘Big Hero 6‘ is a big winner and continues Disney’s streak of success.

‘Frozen’ Director Picks Next Project!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 7th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

Chris-Buck-Jennifer-Lee-Golden-Globes-post

If you want to cherry pick your next project as a filmmaker, it helps to have an Oscar in your back pocket for the previous film. That’s what Jennifer Lee has to bargain with thanks to the unrivaled success of ‘Frozen‘. Lee  directed and co-wrote the animated flick that has dragged every child that’s ever seen it into its icy depths. There isn’t a parent around that hasn’t been tortured by their kids either falling in love with the movie, or non-stop singing of ‘Let It Go‘. It’s a great song, I love Idina Menzel’s voice, but there are only so many times you can hear it as dozens of parents have taken to YouTube to prove.

Hello, Jana here,

25920683ce_34727209_o2

You have probably heard about the new Adam Sandler and Kevin James venture ‘Pixels‘. Don’t write this one off just because you see their names on the starring list. I know many subscribe to the theory that their comedic talents are past their prime and they give us nothing new but vapid buffoonery. I like slapstick comedy, I like the obvious joke. I appreciated the originality of ‘Grown Ups‘ and groaned with the rest of you at the dreck that was ‘Grown Ups 2‘. But I think they have a quality that works when they team up together.

Hey guys, Jana here,

dule-hell-james-roday1

If laughing hysterically while you’re trying not to puke is your favorite mixed feeling, get ready for ‘Gravy‘! Maybe I should add if you’re a fan of Emilio Estevez Esteevez and Bighead, Super Sniffer, Longbranch Pennywhistle or Chocolate Columbo, you’ll be in love with this. Of course, all those names are the many aliases Shawn Spencer uses for himself and that of his faithful friend (Sounds like I’m talking about a puppy, doesn’t it?) and side-kick Burton Guster on the TV series ‘Psych‘. This factors in to ‘Gravy‘ because James Roday is the director of ‘Gravy‘ and he’s brought co-star Dule Hill into the film with him!

Film Review: ‘Rio 2’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 11th, 2014

Rebecca S., Here…

maxresdefault

Some animated films stay with you, like Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, Lion King, How to Train Your Dragon, and Shrek. There are some that you really enjoy and recommend to friends, for example The Lego Movie, Despicable Me, Wreck-it-Ralph, and Iron Giant. And then, there are those that you see that you think will only be good for people with kids because they have catchy songs and flashy colors, but not much else. Enter Rio 2, which falls solidly into this category.

Hi, Bryan Here….

globes-drink

The Golden Globes were last night and Tina Fey and Amy Poehler killed it. They were amazing.  Even former president Bill Clinton showed up to talk about Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln‘.  Even though I really liked the film ‘Argo‘, I was shocked when it won best film and director for Ben Affleck. I was happy to see ‘Django Unchained‘ win for best supporting actor for Christoph Waltz and screenplay for Tarantino. If this is any pre-cursor to the Oscars, I’d be completely let down if ‘Argo‘ takes it all.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great film, but not the best film of the year.  I expect it to and want it to win the best adapted screenplay.  Just my opinion.  Below are the full results from last night’s show.

The Oscar Nominations Are In!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 10th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…..

oscar_statues-4_3_r560

Earlier this morning, Seth MacFarlane and Emma Stone announced the Oscar nominations, which MacFarlane came across as pretty funny.  I’m excited for him to host the Oscars this year.  And, his film ‘Ted‘ actually got nominated. How cool is that?  Below is the full list of Oscar nominations.  Let us know what you think.  We will be posting a separate article soon on Oscar snubs, because believe me, there are many.  And don’t forget, we will be doing our annual LIVE OSCAR COMMENTARY, which will mark the 6th time we have done it.  It promises tons of laughs.

Hi, Bryan Here….

The nominations came in this morning and needless to say, I went into a fit of rage.  I mean I was so mad, I almost wrote a letter.  After going through the list of nominees, while some of the noms were well deserved, many were not, especially in the FILM categories.  There needs to be a serious uprooting process at the Golden Globes where everyone involved in voting needs to be replaced by others who know what they’re doing.
