’10 to Midnight’ – Blu-ray Review!

Get your B-Movie nudity excitement ready, because the 1983 horror film ‘10 to Midnight‘ is back with an all new 4K transfer on Scream Factory Blu-ray glory. J. Lee Thompson (Cape Fear) directed this film with a script from William Roberts (The Magnificent Seven) about a serial killer who kills naked women. Well that’s how it sounds on paper, but there’s more to this story, along with a cast of Charles Bronson, a young Kelly Preston, Ola Ray from the Michael Jackson Thriller video, and the diabeetus man himself Wilford Brimley as a police captain. I mean, it doesn’t get any better than that does it?

Film Review: ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’!

Who would have thought that some 22 years later, we would still be getting ‘Mission: Impossible‘ films with Tom Cruise as the go-to guy in saving the world time and time again?  I definitely didn’t expect this, but I’m thrilled Tom Cruise and company continue to make these electrifying films that seem to up the ante and get better with each installment. Tom Cruise is 56 years old, which is 5 years older than Wilford Brimley was in the movie ‘Cocoon‘. Let that sit with you for a minute. What I’m trying to say is that Cruise doesn’t look nor does he act like a 56-year-old man. Instead, he looks and acts like a 25-year-old youngster with a death wish and penchant for the extreme and I believe every second of it, especially in this sixth film ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout‘.

We are closing in on Texas Frightmare Weekend for 2017 with just a little under two weeks to go. May 5 will be upon us before we know it and all the glorious events will be open and ready for us, the avid fan, rabid amateur filmmaker, the nuclear family. Whatever form you’re in, you’re going to enjoy the Southwest’s premier horror convention and film festival. If you’ve got an interest in genre film, you’re not going to want to be anywhere else but the Hyatt Regency DFW Airport May 5-7, 2017, for the 12th annual event.

Walt Disney Pictures has selected the next story up for the live-action remake with ‘Mulan‘. The company has been hell bent on taking successful animated stories, blowing up the fantasy worlds they live in, including the already larger-than-life villains, then dropping the wide-eyed hero into the setting and let the story unfold. This is a pretty cool idea, however Disney has yet to pull a live-action crossover out of their hat that was better than it’s animated mirror.  Read the rest of this entry »
