Well Go USA Cuts the Cable Cord for Fans!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 22nd, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

game_of_death_1600

Good news, everyone. The BEST studio that brings you marital arts and Asian action cinema (Well Go USA) has just joined the cable cutting revolution and is getting its own subscription channel, similar to HBOGO and the WWE Network. Their channel will be called “Hi-YAH!“, as in the thing that the usual fun martial artists yell out when the swing chop, stab, swing chop someone on film and will debut on Playstation VUE on January 26th. Wait, that’s like next week (AWESOME). Don’t fret though, ‘Hi-YAH!‘ will be available on additional platforms later on in the year and will feature films from Bruce Lee, Donnie Yen, and Jackie Chan. Hopefully, as time goes on, there will be original content as well. For you Asian-action fans, this is HUGE news and a great addition to subscription based services. I already have a list of movies I want to see on the channel.

Stephen King properties are all unique and it’s always exciting when one project gets closer to debut on the big screen and sometimes, the trailers don’t give us enough to go on and we’re begging for more. If ‘Cell‘ is one of the movies you’re waiting for, we’ve got an extra clip to show you, originally shown on Fangoria.

Film Review: ‘Daddy Don’t Go’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 19th, 2016

Joel H., here…

Screen Shot 2016-06-19 at 10.49.35 AM

I’ve always had a dad. He’s always been there, both he and my mom actually. I can’t pretend to know what it’s like to have an absent father. My wife, however, had a decent amount of detachment from her father. I know her pain through her expressing those feelings and emotions. I get the idea of not having a father in that vein, but only in that vein. It’s truly unimaginable. Being a dad, myself, at this point, I can’t imagine leaving my son. I simply can’t take the thought of him not having me as a part of his life. Understand, that’s not a boast in any capacity, other than just being a proud father, but he loves me. He loves my wife just as well. The thought of him losing either of us, who care most and love him most… It’s paralyzing. ‘Daddy Don’t Go‘ shows us the same thing by following the lives of four underprivileged fathers in New York City, and their fight to remain [good] in their children’s lives against all odds. Each one has a different story and background, but they all equal in heart. Over the course of two years, we see stories and situations progress and some end up seemingly cyclical.

Hey guys, Jana here,

One of my favorite actors is John Cusack, and he’s reaching the end of negotiations to star in ‘Misfortune‘ where his character will be a quick-witted businessman that walks away from his life and everyone in it to begin a new life thanks to his newly found riches, which are embezzled from a client. He has a plan and is following it well until he becomes separated from his stacks of loot in the middle of the woods where three young friends just happen to come across said loot.

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 10th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

53fe9c57-1190-4d61-b197-fcda11fc89af

The awards show is January 10 on NBC hosted by Ricky Gervais. First off, let’s look at something AWESOME here. ‘MAD MAX: FURY ROAD‘ is nominated for BEST PICTURE. It needs to win. It should win. And if does win, we all go streaking. That being said…I can’t believe that ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl‘ was not nominated for anything. Come on. It’s one of the BEST films of the year. It’s also interesting to see no love for the final season of ‘Mad Men’ her either. Oh well.

Here is the list of nominees:

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

alfonso-gomez-rejon

I had the distinct pleasure to sit down and talk with director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon of ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl‘ in Dallas, TX. First off, this movie is fantastic and you should see it immediately a thousand times. Secondly, Alfonso is a movie buff of the highest order and is so passionate about film, that it totally shows in this fun interview. Did you know Alfonso was a production assistant on Martin Scorsese’sCasino‘? He was and we talk about it. We also discuss ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl‘, as well as some of his favorite scenes in film, which he wanted to talk an hour more on. He texted me another favorite scene later on in the day that didn’t make the cut here, but it was “the first shot from Bertolucci’s ‘Last Tango in Paris‘. It’s a boom down into Brando’s close up. In that one shot, you get to feel the entire inner life of his character. Such a solid scene and an A-list director here. Enjoy and see the movie.

Angelic Heel Once Again!

The last Raw before Extreme Rules (which can be seen on the WWE Network, FREE for the month of April to new subscribers) was an intense emotional roller coaster. The Apex Predator stalked the halls RKOing anyone and everyone, the WWE Universe learned who the #1 Contenders to the Tag titles were, and there appeared to be trouble in the Authority family. This hard hitting installment of the longest running episodic television show did not disappoint and kept the hits coming. Did you miss it? Wanna know what happened? Find out now!

Hey guys, Jana here,

doctor-zhivago

Dr. Zhivago‘ is one of the bedrock’s of a well-rounded film education, based on the novel of the same name written by Russian author Boris Pasternak in 1958. The life of a Russian physician and poet, who falls in love with another man’s wife, besides being married, himself, plays out against the backdrop of political unrest with World War 1 and the October Revolution.

Hi all, Jana here,

endo-silence-full

Martin Scorsese (‘The Wolf of Wall Street‘ and ‘The Departed‘) is one of my favorite directors. This hasn’t been a secret because I rave on his work, constantly. Well, right now Scorsese is going to get the chance to make a film he’s had on his list for more than a decade. I can’t imagine how that must feel to wait for over 10 years to do a film and it finally comes together! The center of attention in this announcement is that it’s for the film of the novel ‘Silence‘. Novelist Shusako Endo had given permission for the novel adaptation to be made once before in 1971. As with everything in Hollywood these days, a re-make is in the works. This time, a bigger budget, bigger stars, bigger director and , probably, a bigger audience.

Film Review: “Son of God”

by Woozie on Feb 27th, 2014

Suzanne L., Here…

Screen Shot 2014-02-27 at 12.14.13 PM

Whether you believe or do not believe, most people can agree that the story of Jesus is very powerful. A man who sacrifices his life by a going through a terrible death in the hopes that his act will save humankind from the grave – it is automatically filled with drama and meaning. Unfortunately, the latest film to try to capture the power of this story, Son of God, fails in so many ways. From the acting to the scripting to the special effects and staging, this is one story of the Gospel that should be skipped.
