Hi Bryan Here….

The Brothers Weinstein have tapped into remaking yet another classic.  This time it is the beloved Akira Kurosawa masterpiece “Seven Samurai” according to Variety.  Seven Samurai was a huge inspiration for several later films including “The Magnificent Seven”.  It seems that along with the Weinsteins, the Japanese Kurosawa production people will be producing the film as well.  But, it looks like this remake of “Seven Samurai” won’t feature any samurais at all and will be a modern tale of the original.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Quentin Tarantino brings so many things to mind, first and foremost, a kick-ass movie with top notch acting. Such is what I hope continues for the director as he is said to be tackling his first true-crime project on the Manson Family murders.

Sylvester Stallone to play ‘The Godfather’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 28th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

la-et-mn-oscars-2016-sylvester-stallone-returns-to-oscar-ring-after-39-years-20160114

Is it true? Is Sylvester Stallone coming to television? Yes he is, and he will play the lead role of Raymonde Aprile, the last great American mob boss. I can’t wait to see Stallone play a sadistic bad guy. Not only that, ‘Training Day‘ and upcoming ‘The Magnificent Seven‘ director Antoine Fuqua will direct the series. The show is based off of ‘Omerta‘, which was the final novel from Mario Puzo, who famously wrote ‘The Godfather‘.

MTV Gathering Major Players For ‘Scream’ Series!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 6th, 2014

Hey everyone, Jana here,

lvHkv0r

When MTV announces a new TV series, I’ve learned over the years to let it fall on deaf ears. I’ve never forgiven them for what they did to ‘Teen Wolf‘. The former music-based station really needs to change it’s name to We-Used-To-Love-Music-But-Morons-Make-Us-Better-Money-So-Enjoy-This-Attempt-At-Entertainment. OK, so maybe not exactly that, but something close. SUX TV?

Weinstein Bros. Back Out of ‘Clerks III’!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jul 8th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

As most of you know, I LOVE Kevin Smith movies. The man is a linguistic genius and I never get tired of anything Kevin Smith or especially Jay and Silent Bob related. Plans were made for the man to begin filming the ending of his trilogy of ‘Clerks‘ in May. Unfortunately for us…and the world as a whole, this is not meant to be at this time. Smith gave a statement that The Weinstein Company, who own the rights to the franchise, passed on the sequel. There is no way they could have heard him correctly! This is ‘Clerks’ to the third power! Not some lame and sappy romantic piece of shite, this is freakin’ ‘Clerks’!!!

Jana B., Here…

The Weinstein Company has purchased the big screen adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth from Studiocanal. The heart-breakingly gorgeous Michael Fassbender, younger Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto from X-Men: First Class and the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past is cast as the titular Macbeth. Marion Cotillard has signed on to play Lady Macbeth. Cotillard is fairly well known for playing Billie Frechette opposite Johnny Depp’s Dillinger in Public Enemies. She also recently, and most notably, played Talia al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises. I first realized her star power when I saw her Ridley Scott’s A Good Year playing opposite Russell Crowe.

Hi, Bryan Here….

lb-kill-bill-quad

Quentin Tarantino has just announced that he will be returning to the blood spattered bride saga with ‘Kill Bill‘ Volume 3 and 4. Tarantino is hot off the press tour junkets and award ceremonies for his recent successful ‘Django Unchained‘ film. He said that he is going to take a couple of months to decompress then jump right into pre-production of the next two ‘Kill Bill‘ films.

Hi Bryan Here….

The Weinsteins have purchased the world rights to Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film which is currently untitled at the moment but was once called “The Master” according to DEADLINE.  This will be the first film PTA has directed since “There Will Be Blood”.  The untitled film will begin shooting on June 13th and has already cast two major stars.  Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix are signed on and a female actress is currently being scouted as well.

Hi Bryan Here…

First off, let me say Congrats to “The King’s Speech” and to everyone who worked on the film.  It was indeed a great movie.  Even though it was not my choice for BEST PICTURE, it is a great film.  But recently, some of the powers that be have signed off to re-cut and edit “The King’s Speech” to get a  PG-13 rating.  And a lot of people are not happy about it including the film’s actors and crew.

Hi Bryan Here…

Now that the whole Miramax debacle is over, it seems that their first movie is one that most people not come to expect.  They plan to team up with their original head honchos (The Weinsteins) and make sever sequels to films they have the rights to.

Rob Zombie To Direct “Lords of Salem”

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 23rd, 2010

Rock God and Film Director Rob Zombie has announced his next film he will direct which will be “Lords of Salem”.  It is about what unfolds when an group of witches plague modern-day Salem.

Zombie says he will write the script and start shooting next year.

Also, Zombie was attracted to the setup by an offer of autonomy — he’s given “total control” over script, casting and final cut. That’s a far cry from working with the Weinsteins and Dimension.

The film will be a thriller, “set in contemporary Salem, where the inhabitants receive a demonic visit from a 300-year old coven of witches.”

Zombie says his best filmmaking experience to date has been with LionsGate on The Devil’s Rejects, and I’d mark the coincidence that Rejects is his best film. He says the battles on the two Halloween movies were draining. (”By the time I got [my way], I didn’t care anymore.”)

Speaking to Deadline, Zombie also namedrops The Shining as an example of a slow-burn film that might not get made by a studio now, which suggests that he might go for a longer, more deliberately paced film while making The Lords of Salem.

Zombie also went on to say, “I wanted to break away from anything related to preexisting material…The remake train is getting pretty tired now and when I made Halloween, everybody complained, either that it was too much like the original or too different. I like that people either love or hate what I do because it’s better than being in the middle, which means forgettable. But when you do an original premise, they take it on face value and after three years of not being able to win on Halloween, I just couldn’t go through that again.”

If only he had total control over House of 1000 Corpses.  I like Rob as a filmmaker, and I can’t wait to see his return to original movies.
