Film Review: ‘Turbo Kid’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 11th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

I’ve always wondered what it would be like if someone made a movie that combined ‘Mad Max‘ with some of my favorite 80s and 90s movies. Fortunately for myself and all of you, somebody did. Well, not somebody, but three people named Francois Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell all wrote and directed this bloody fun masterpiece called ‘Turbo Kid‘. This is the kind of movie that would have been the “Holy Grail” from me growing up, because it has just about every element I would want in a movie including BMX bikes, super powers, robots, a post apocalyptic background, a John Carpenter-style score, violence, adventure, arm wrestling, and buckets of blood.

Hi kids, Jana here,

  Bibb County GA SHBP

If you’ve read much of what I’ve written before, I’ve led the band railing against movie remakes. Yeah, that’s me in the front with the baton and the megaphone. However, there are some films that it’s ok to remake. Doesn’t make it right, but it’s not one I’ll lose sleep over. The remake of ‘Point Break‘, ‘Roadhouse‘, ‘Ghost‘ and ‘Dirty Dancing‘ are all examples of films that do not need touched by anyone other than slight re-touching to make the colors more compatible with HD televisions. Basically anything Patrick Swayze was ever in should be kept sacred. I use ‘Swayze’ as a verb after all. No one ever gets their ass kicked, anymore – They get full on Swayzed. In short, don’t mess with the man’s films!!

It’s never too early to be talking Academy Awards Nominations. One of the categories that sometimes gets a bit overlooked is the Animated Feature Film category. This is one of the most important areas in my household as there are 3 children that drag me to see each and every, sometimes, pieces of animated crap. In order to be eligible for entry into the category, there are a few criteria that need to be met. Submitted features must fulfill the theatrical release requirements and comply with all of the category’s other qualifying rules before they can advance in the voting process.

Both companies announced today that DreamWorks will start making new and original content exclusively for Netflix. The new series featured will be inspired by the iconic DreamWorks characters as well as ones from the Classic Media Library it purchased last year.

Apple WWDC 2012!!! The Good, The Bad, The Ugly!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 12th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Apple had its keynote today and finally unveiled some much need hardware upgrades, or lack there of as what transpired earlier.  Apple revealed their new line of mac book pros, mac book airs, and their big tower macs.  We also got some new info on the upcoming Mountain Lion OSX.  Are there some cool things?  Yes there is.  Was there anything disappointing?  Very much so.  Some would say that I’m a mac enthusiast.  I might agree with that, however I’ve very critical of them.  Over the past couple of years, Apple, I feel has screwed me over and their customers time and time again.  I believe that trend of screwing customers out of their hard earned money is still ongoing.  Even more so with this new line of supposed upgrades for computers.

‘Top Gear’ Season One BBC!!! (A DVD Review)

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 8th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

The hit British show ‘Top Gear’ came to American television last year and since then has become a HUGE hit in the states.  And now it has a second season.  I’m not a huge car or vehicle watching fan, but I must say, after watching this DVD, I can’t wait to see the second season.  It has some really cool cars doing some insane experiments and tests with  a few hosts and celebrity guests.  It is a lot of fun to watch and informative.  I learned so much by watching this.  Definitely recommended.
