Oct/2019

The big summer blockbuster is almost here. I’m not talking about the Merc with a mouth sequel either. I’m talking about WWE’s 31st annual SummerSlam PPV of entertainment and pro-wrestling, which is set to take place on August 19th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn New York and can be watched live in HD on the WWE Network for $9.99 a month or for free if you’re a new subscriber. Over the next few days, our writer Angi and I will be conjuring up some entertaining pieces about each match at SummerSlam 2018. We’ll cover each WWE Superstar, the background of the match, the odds of winning, and what to look out for in each match.

Blu-ray Review: ‘A Wrinkle In Time’!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 30th, 2018

THE FILM

(This film portion was written by Beka Perlstein!)

I really wanted to like A Wrinkle in Time more than I did. I gave it my best shot, but in the end, the only thing I can honestly say was that it had lots of great colors. Perhaps it was my high expectations for a Disney film, plus Oprah Winfrey and Mindy Kaling that set me up for disappointment, but regardless, I was left feeling let down in a film that I knew practically nothing about. I have never read the 1962 Madeleine L’Engle novel, so I honestly had no clue what the plot was but whatever, it’s Disney, it’s gonna be good. Well…

Film Review: Good Time!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 23rd, 2017

Dan M., here….

Good Time was a pretty good time. (You saw what I did there). Starring Robert Pattison, who has made it his life’s mission to make every single person other than his accountant forget that he was ever in Twilight, as Connie (Conny?) the “smarter” brother in this film about two brothers who are very bad at being criminals. It was also directed by two brothers known as the Safdie bros. I have never seen the Safdie brothers’ previous directorial work but I assume that this film mirrors their style. The movie feels dirty and dark despite having the screen littered with neon lights and color choices that felt very unique. It won’t be anything you write home about but it certainly isn’t a bad movie and it’s always nice to see actors like Pattison do something entirely different from what we’re used to.

Hey guys, Jana here,

jay-and-mark-duplass

HBO has welcomed Jay and Mark Duplass into their fold with ‘Room 104‘, a comedy anthology series. The Duplasses were behind the short-lived 2 season run of ‘Togetherness‘ for the cabler. ‘Room 104‘ centers on the assorted characters that occupy your average, run-of-the-mill American hotel. We’re going to get to know room 104 intimately as that room is the focus of the project and the occupants that pass through that room each week.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

john-belushi-animal-house

Showtime is getting into the Belushi business finally. Sure, there are a couple of biopics that are in the works for John Belushi, but this is an official feature length documentary about the iconic actor. Showtime has brought on filmmakers R.J.Cutler and John Battsek to make the documentary. Their resume includes ‘Searching for Sugar Man‘ and ‘The September Issue‘, so not exactly lightweights here.

If the news about recent shark attacks hasn’t scared you from the beaches already, let’s let Eli Roth (‘Hostel‘, ‘Cabin Fever‘) give it a try. That’s what Warner Bros. has to be telling itself after closing a deal with the multi-talented director to helm a story titled ‘Meg‘ that’s spent some time at the top of the New York Times Bestseller list. Meg isn’t a coquettish girl, or the raving demon-bitch from ‘Supernatural‘ either, this Meg is an ancient threat to waterways as a 60 foot Megaladon tends to be.

Film Review: ‘7 Chinese Brothers’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 13th, 2015

Beka P., Here…

Jason_Schwartzman_in_7_Chinese_Brothers_Extra___Get_Lost__-_YouTube

If you like Jason Schwartzman, and you like dogs, 7 Chinese Brothers is the film for you. Bob Byington (Somebody Up There Likes Me) wrote and directed this film that stars Jason Schwartzman as Larry, a pathetic thirty-something who can’t seem to make anything of himself. Larry lives with his dog, Arrow (Schwartzman’s real life dog), and works at Buca be Beppo, although that gig comes to an abrupt end.
