It began in 2009, Anne Rice’s name being synonymous with vampires and other dark creatures is a thing of the past. Now, the author, who made herself a household name with ‘The Vampire Chronicles‘ has turned to a new muse. In particular, Angels. Rice’s ‘The Songs of the Seraphim‘ novels are being developed as a television drama for CBS entitled ‘Angel Time ‘after the first of the Seraphim novels.

The Top 20 Vampire Movies Of All Time!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 20th, 2013

Jana B., Here…

085 - Evil Ed

I love making lists. Grocery lists. Bucket lists. Holiday lists. Favorite movie lists. Favorite VAMPIRE movie lists. I bet that got your attention, didn’t it? This is MY list of the top 20 Vampire movies ever made. Why did I point out that it was MY list? Easy. So you read this knowing it wasn’t an Academy vote that got a movie on this list. No one paid me to promote their movie. However, I’m NOT against this, just to be clear. Why spend time putting movies in a list? Maybe it satisfies some Freudian lack of paternal affection I suffered as a child. But the real answer is, “Why wouldn’t I make a list as awesome as this?”

Hi Bryan Here….

I am just loving these musician documentaries.  The first half of the George Harrison doc has been amazing.  Looking forward to the second part tonight.  And now  Harry Belafonte is getting a documentary on his life and career.  Most of you might know Belafonte as the guy who sang ‘The Banana Boat Song’ which features the lyric “DAY-O”.  It was featured in the film ‘Beetle juice’.  I’m very excited for this doc as I am a huge fan of Belafonte.  I remember watching the making of Michael Jackson’s ‘We are the World’ music video and during the rehearsal, all of the singers and musicians just randomly started singing ‘The Banana Boat Song’ along with Harry Belafonte himself.  It was magical.

Hi Bryan Here….

In more Disney and Pixar 3D news, all three ‘Toy Story’ films will be re-released in 3D Bluray.  I won’t be surprised to see in the coming weeks Disney and other film companies releasing their titles again in the 3D format.  As far as I can see now, the only difference between these 3D releases and the previous bluray versions is the actual 3D portion itself.  Read below all the specs and info.

Hi Bryan Here….

The sequel to the hit comedy ‘The Hangover’ is out in all theaters and is definitely funny, but with a price.  I know most of you have seen the sequel already and yes I am late getting this review out, but I have had tons of things going on.  But alas, the review is here.  First thing to know about ‘The Hangover Part II’ is that you will most definitely laugh wildly all the way through the film.  The second thing you need to know about ‘The Hangover Part II’ is that it is the exact same film as the first ‘Hangover’ movie to a tee, except it takes place in Thailand rather than Vegas.

Marvel Comics Also Drops Their Monthly Comics Prices

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 7th, 2010

Less than an hour after their primary competitor announced an across the board price drop from $3.99 to $2.99.  Marvel Comics today also announced at least a partial move away from the often criticized $3.99 price for new serialized superhero comics.

During the ICv2 Conference On Comics & Digital – a Thursday afternoon industry pre-event to New York Comic Con – Marvel Senior Vice President of Sales & Circulation David Gabriel confirmed that new books launching in January 2011 will not debut at $3.99. “A lot of talk I’ve heard [today is] about the pricing increases overall…because of the digital comics sales, prices will decrease,” he said as part of a panel whose focus was “Print Vs. Digital.”

Gabriel prefaced the announcement by outlining some of Marvel’s broader successes in the downloadable comics space since launching their dedicated iPhone and iPad application in April. “This week we passed 2 million downloads [of the App,]” the VP explained, noting that the overall interest “does not translate yet into 2 million downloads today for books.” However, as a point of comparison, he said that weekly sales of comics on mobile devices have come close but not surpassed the sales of Manhattan retailer powerhouse Midtown Comics – one of the biggest accounts Marvel services in the direct market.

The sales online were particularly strong for the trial runs Marvel has done on day-and-date releases like this week’s “Ultimate Thor” #1. “We found that in a week’s time, the download of the day-and-date comics were a little bit less than what Midtown orders. They’re one of the top retailers in the country, so it gives you an idea of where we’re at.”

Gabriel added that by tomorrow, digital sales of “Ultimate Thor” will have surpassed the amount sold to the biggest accounts Marvel works with.

Doubtlessly, the $3.99 versus $2.99 price debate will be a big part of the discussion around New York Comic Con just as the general price increase has been a somewhat controversial move in the eyes of fans and retailers, particularly as summer sales of single issue comics have taken a noticeable downturn.

Lauren Bacall 1924-2014!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 13th, 2014

Hi all, Jana here,

Lauren-Bacall-001

Sadly, I’m bringing you another bit of sad news tonight. While the world is still reeling from the loss of Robin Williams, we’ve unfortunately lost another star that adds to the pantheon of Hollywood Royalty that will be shining down on us from above. Lauren Bacall took her leave today at the age of 89.

Bacall shot to stardom during Hollywood’s golden age, with all the sexuality a hundred women possess in only her little finger, she was not accidentally given success, but was one of the most beautiful and glamorous women to prove she had the right to grace the silver screen.  It only took the slightest sound to escape her lips that rendered men powerless. Men wanted her and women wanted to be her. Her first film was the 1944 effort based on an Ernest Hemingway novel, ‘To Have and Have Not’. While this film not only launched her career, but it also paired her with the dashing and always debonair Humphrey Bogart. While  the reasons this was no chance encounter but a divine meeting will soon become clear to all after the siren and the hard-edged cynic with a nobility streak take their working relationship to the next level and end up with rice in their hair when the two thespians became legally wed on May 21, 1945 and lasted until Bogie’s death in  1957. She married one more time in her life to Jason Robards lasting only 8 years and ended in divorce.

The Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis, MO is ending it’s regular 2013-2014 Broadway Tour season with ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat‘. Talk about one excited girl! Joseph was my very first Broadway experience, and by experience, I mean it’s the first Little Theatre production I saw, the first time a show stuck with me deeply.

It's not fortune cookies. Let me take a look.
