Film Review: ‘The World’s End’!!!

by Bryan Kluger on Aug 22nd, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

Worlds-End

The third film in the Cornetto ice cream trilogy by Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost called ‘The World’s End‘ is as much fun and more action packed than their previous films ‘Shaun of The Dead‘ and ‘Hot Fuzz‘. This beer guzzling buddy movie garners gut busting laughs from start to finish and features impressive fight choreography, amazing one-liners, and one hell of a group performance by the actors. The B-movie homages and mid-life crises themes are done flawlessly with the highest of entertainment value that will make you want to watch this over and over again. I expect strong box office returns with this British extravaganza.

Hi, Bryan Here….

The-Worlds-End-2

You know when you get Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost in a film together, you have a giant heavy piece of gold. This looks amazing. I love that this trailer has the running “jumping over the fence’ gag that was in their previous films ‘Shaun of the Dead‘ and ‘Hot Fuzz‘. This film will be released August 23rd of this year and looks like Simon Pegg’s character is the dunce in this one. This film is at the top of my list now for this year.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Edgar Wright’s fourth film is official.  Universal has green lit ‘The World’s End’, a film that starts 20 years after five childhood friends attempted an epic pub crawl. The friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries according to Deadline.

‘Fighting With My Family’ – Film Review!

by Bryan Kluger on Feb 20th, 2019

“‘Fighting With My Family’ dare I say it, is my favorite film of the year so far.”

Pro-wrestling is a way of life and an escape into another universe of fun characters and storylines where it allows us to put aside real-world thoughts for a few hours and enjoy some high octane entertainment from some of the world’s best athletes and entertainers. Most of us at least one point in our lives have watched a pro-wrestling match and still vividly remember the match to a tee and who competed. After Stephen Merchant’s latest directorial effort ‘Fighting With My Family‘, you will forever remember the name Paige, a real-life woman who started wrestling at the age of 8 in England with her entire family of wrestlers, where at the age of 18, was signed to WWE and won the Women’s Championship Title, making her the youngest ever to accomplish that feat.

Film Review: Baby Driver!

by Bryan Kluger on Jun 27th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

baby-driver-image-3

Finally, Edgar Wright has made a musical in the most Edgar Wright way. The film is called Baby Driver and is the most fun I’ve had at the movies all year long. When Wright makes a movie, you shut-up, listen, watch, and have a cold pint, because you’re in for a fun-as-hell thrill ride. With his highly impressive resume of films, including Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End, and Scott Pilgrim vs The World, you quickly know that Wright is one of the coolest, best, and most fun filmmakers alive today.

The comedy favorite team of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have co-starred in some amazing flicks together, the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, consisting of ‘Shaun of the Dead‘, ‘Hot Fuzz‘, and ‘The World’s End‘. They’re not done with the film-making and Thank God for it!! The pair have their own film and TV production company titled Stolen Picture. The first film to break in the banner is ‘Slaughterhouse Rulez‘.

Edgar Wright’s ‘Baby Driver’ Trailer is HERE!

by Bryan Kluger on Mar 12th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Screen Shot 2017-03-11 at 11.15.09 PM

I think we can all say that Edgar Wright is the coolest filmmaker that ever lived. Wright gave us ‘Shaun of the Dead‘, ‘Hot Fuzz‘, ‘Scott Pilgrim vs The World‘, ‘The World’s End‘ and much more! Filmmakers can go their whole careers and never come close to making a film as fun or as good as any of these. Oh it’s true. It’s damn true. Luckily for us, Wright has been hard at work on his latest film, which is called ‘Baby Driver‘, and it finally has a trailer.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Edgar Wright, is a man known for some distinct movies that have a massive cult following. If you know who Simon Pegg is chances are you know who Wright is. Why do I say this? Because the two have collaborated on the Cornetto Trilogy consisting of some of the most awesome movies in recent history. ‘Shaun of the Dead‘, ‘Hot Fuzz‘ and ‘The World’s End‘ are those movies and chances are good you can’t attend a Comic-Con anywhere without coming across someone dressed as one of the characters.

Film Review: ‘Ant-Man’!!

by Bryan Kluger on Jul 14th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

ant-man_movie_image_collection

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues this summer of 2015 with ‘Ant-Man‘, which is a lesser known character and storyline than the usual big Avenger characters. This is a film that i’ve looked forward to for a few years now, because the story of ‘Ant-Man‘ and his abilities are very cool. When I had my comic book store, I actually had the first five issues of ‘Ant-Man‘ ever. I really dug those comics. Imagine how excited I was when news broke that director Edgar Wright signed on to write and direct the film.

As we all knew would happen, ‘Star Trek 3‘ is on the horizon, even without the guidance of J.J. Abrams. Director Justin Lin (‘Fast and the Furious’) has taken the con after Roberto Orci left the project. Orci was a writer for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness‘ before he was tapped to direct the third installment. The director isn’t the only change in the project from the last film as the writing team that will be putting pen to paper is undergoing some staff re-vamps, too.

Film Review: ‘Black Sea’!!

by Bryan Kluger on Jan 21st, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

4075_D022_00093_R.jpg

Jude Law in a submarine movie, you say? Why yes please. I had only hoped that we would get Jude Law playing ‘Dom Hemingway‘ again here, talking about his private parts in such a way that it seems poetic, but unfortunately that’s not the case with his character or this film, titled ‘Black Sea‘. Director Kevin Macdonald has an impressive resume for sure, with films like ‘Marley‘ and ‘The Last King of Scotland‘ under his belt. Where those award winning films might have shown us something more on a serious level whether it be about a historical figure or brilliant musician, ‘Black Sea‘ tends to journey into the ludicrous realm on am adult ‘Hardy Boys‘ type of quest.

Jana’s Best/Worst of 2014!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 15th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

PicMonkey Collage

It’s been a big year for the entertainment world. Netflix’s initial push to bring movie-theater worthy films straight to streaming customers and bypassing the big screen altogether set off a chain of deals that will take those fresh releases and push them directly into homes allowing us to bypass a $15.00 soda, but denying us the $20.00 popcorn you can only get at the theater. Then came the deluge of series and movies being made for exclusive run with everyone from Netflix, Amazon to Crackle and everything in between. Top that off with the huge breach of privacy Sony experienced. New releases were flooded onto P2P sharing sites and private emails from the film company’s big wigs that show us how the infrastructure of Sony really works, not to mention what those involved really think of some of their superstars.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

hector-and-the-search-for-happiness-Simon-Pegg

You can’t help but love Simon Pegg. His roles in Edgar Wright’s Cornetto Trilogy ‘Shaun of The Dead‘, ‘Hot Fuzz‘, and ‘The World’s End‘ are legendary. His work on the recent ‘Star Trek‘ films, ‘Paul‘, and in the ‘Mission Impossible‘ films have been excellent and very comical. That aside, i love seeing Pegg work on dramatic films, because not only is he one of the best comedic actors around right now, but he is also one hell of a dramatic actor, and his new film ‘Hector and the Search for Happiness‘ highlights that.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Three_Flavours_Cornetto_Trilogy_DVD

Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright are a trio their fans love seeing come together. They put together a troika of films dubbed the The Three Flavors Cornetto trilogy as they’re color-coded and coincide with a specific Cornetto ice cream flavor. . ‘Shaun of the Dead‘ features strawberry-flavored Cornetto, signifying the film’s bloody and gory elements. ‘Hot Fuzz’ is the original blue Cornetto and signifies the police element in the film. ‘The World’s End‘ is a tasty green, mint chocolate chip flavor in a subtle nod to aliens and science fiction. Pegg and Wright wrote the films with rapier-sharp wit, killer action and a touch of ticker.

The Worlds End - Photocall

I’m afraid I have some bad news. Director Edgar Wright has exited ‘Ant-Man‘, the upcoming Marvel film. This just sucks. Wright who has directed ‘Shaun of the Dead‘, ‘Hot Fuzz‘, ‘The World’s End‘, and ‘Scott Pilgrim‘ was announced as the director of ‘Ant-Man‘ a few years ago and recently released casting news that Paul Rudd was going to star in the film. Well, we got word today that Wright and Marvel have parted ways due to creative differences on where they want to see the film go.

Fox has hit the jackpot when it comes to casting this season. British writer-actor Nick Frost has officially signed on to co-star in ‘Sober Companion‘ with Justin Long. Frost is an extremely bankable commodity that automatically ups the production value of a project. He is normally seen co-starring with best friend and frequent collaborator Simon Pegg. The pair have given us The Cornetto Trilogy comprised of ‘Shaun of the Dead‘, ‘Hot Fuzz‘ and ‘The World’s End‘. They also starred together in ‘Paul‘ which the pair wrote together.

Bryan’s Top 15 Movie List of 2013!!!

by Bryan Kluger on Dec 28th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…

2013-best

And here we are, at the very end of 2013. What a year for movies. This was an amazing year for film. There were so many great independent films, documentaries, and movies that were just highly entertaining, that I’ve watched them more than five times already. As usual, as long as I’ve been doing this, my Top Movie list of the year is very different from most everyone else that has made a list. I don’t know why – well I do know, because I’m twisted and crazy. But how I base my list is a variety of factors, not ones that the Oscars base their opinions on, but rather a more humble and fun variety of factors. For example, did this movie make me stand up and slow clap, or did it make me slap the person next to me and yell ‘THAT WAS AWESOME’! It’s those kind of things. So without further delay, I present to you my TOP 15 list for 2013. Let me know if you disagree or agree, love or hate, or just want to say hi. Enjoy.

Paul Rudd is Ant-Man!!

by Bryan Kluger on Dec 19th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…

Paul Rudd

It’s official. Paul Rudd is going to be Edgar Wright’s ANT-MAN. This is huge news. One of my favorite comedic actors is now in the Marvel universe and will probably be in the next ‘Avengers’ film. Rudd, who is mostly seen in Apatow films will be playing Hank Pym or Dr. Pym, aka ANT-MAN, who is a super-hero in the Marvel universe.

Edgar Wright’s Next Project Is……

by Bryan Kluger on Jul 23rd, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Edgar Wright (director of ‘Shaun of the Dead’, ‘Hot Fuzz’, ‘Scott Pilgrim’) has landed his next gig in a project called ‘Collider’.  ‘Collider’ is being billed as a big sci-fi film in which Wright will pen the script with ‘I Am Legend’s Mark Protosevich.  Add to that a big name with JJ Abrams.  Abrams will be producing the film with Wright and Nira Park through the Bad Robot banner.

“Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker is a grande closing of one of the best stories to ever be told, plus it’s wonderful to spend one last time with our film friends.”

Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, and more set out to finally defeat Kylo Ren and the New Order in the culminating finale of the world’s most favorite film franchise with Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. This ninth film concludes the Skywalker story while still managing to keep a hint of hope open for more tales in space. J.J. Abrams is back in the director’s chair from The Force Awakens and delivers an energetic and emotional end with both new characters and old ones we haven’t seen in quite some time. It’s a fitting and graceful finish that feels satisfying as a whole for something that’s been obsessed over for around 42 years.

Iron Sky: The Coming Race – Film Review!

by Bryan Kluger on Jul 16th, 2019

“Iron Sky: The Coming Race is a fun-as-hell movie.”

In 2012, Finnish filmmaker Timo Vuorensola, gave us the film ‘Iron Sky‘, which was about the defeated Nazi soldiers from WWII, who somehow retreated to the dark side of the moon, built a home base, and prepped to bring a big war back to Earth in 2018. Oh what a fun movie that was. It even became a cult hit amongst the horror genre crowd. Some seven years later, Timo took to the crowdfunding sites and brought in enough cash to make a sequel called ‘Iron Sky: The Coming Race‘.  Oddly, this is the only film he’s done since the first ‘Iron Sky‘ movie and I can’t figure out why, because both these films are visually great and pack a ton of fun and action from start to finish. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I want more from Timo Vuorensola.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Can one possibly get enough ‘John Wick‘? The answer to that question is “Hell No!!!” Well Starz and Lionsgate TV have joined forces to bring us ‘The Continental‘, an serial adaptation of the films inspired by the film and occasionally featuring the Baba Yaga himself, Keanu Reeves. It will be set in the universe created for 2014’s juggernaut ‘John Wick‘ and the 2017 sequel ‘John Wick: Chapter 2‘. These films established a dynamic world and more than got the ball rolling to make audiences demand more. There is a tertiary film in the series standing in pre-production now, eyeing a 2019 release date.

Favorite Movies of 2017!

by Bryan Kluger on Dec 27th, 2017

Was 2017 a great year for movies? Of course it was. There were some excellent films to be released in 2017. There were also some bad ones for sure, but the focus on this article are some of the Best films that stuck with me long after viewing. Most people will give you their Top 10 list, but this is no Top 10, because there are just so many movies that I loved and feel passionate about, that I find it difficult and unpleasing to rank them.

Instead, these are my favorite movies of 2017, which I hope you’ve seen already. If you haven’t yet, you’re in for a real treat and I can’t wait for you to see them. Some of these films are still in theaters, while some are on Netflix, 4K UHD, and Blu-ray, so you’ll be able to quickly see any of these if you haven’t. I watched over 270 movies that were released in 2017 and these are my absolute favorites. I hope you get to see all of these, because I know you’ll love them. In no particular order…..
