The Rental – Film Review!

by Bryan Kluger on Jul 22nd, 2020

“The Rental kicks into high gear horror.”

The Rental is the directorial debut of Dave Franco which focuses on a quick weekend getaway for two couples in the Pacific Northwest. The setup of this horror film really preys on the fears of staying in a stranger’s home and hiding secrets from your spouse. As the weekend gets more and more intense the emotional fears and lies become overshadowed by a more physical threat watching the couples’ every move from the dense Oregon fog. A slow burn at first, Franco’s thriller really kicks it into high gear for the final third of the movie where all the decisions you watched for the previous hour pay off in really believable ways as these four vacationers try to survive the night.

BRIDGE – Chapter Fifteen

by Justin Cline on Mar 28th, 2012

Peering into the empty elevator shaft, it was difficult not to at least imagine the prospect of tossing Rook’s body down into the darkness.  Despite the fact that the man’s fingers remained animated even after being severed from his body, Bridge was convinced that even they would cease to function once the killer plummetted fourteen stories. ‘Escape Room’ – Film Review!

by Janet White on Jan 4th, 2019

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Puzzles are amazing. They push you to think and not just any ole thinking. You have to see through, around, up and down, probably why I love being a critic. Anyway, locks slide and toggles click as the screen fades in from black. Escape Room opens with a chessboard followed by a pan around an overloaded study, foretelling much. The sounds did not match the image that appeared. I wanted to like Escape RoomRead the rest of this entry »

4K UHD Review: Westworld Season 1!

by Bryan Kluger on Nov 11th, 2017

HBO’s new flagship show ‘Westworld‘ entered with a big bang in its first season. Since ‘Game of Thrones‘ is ending soon, HBO was ahead of the game and needed its new sci-fi action original show and ‘Westworld‘ was its name. That rhymed a little bit. Based on Michael Crichton’s story and film from 1973 of the same name, ‘Westworld‘ takes a theme park (much like Disneyland) to the next level. What do I mean by that? Well, let’s say you entered the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘ ride at Disneyland.

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

I’m so excited for this. Warner Bros. has partnered with HBO and is releasing the first ever 4K UHD with HDR and Dolby Atmos when it comes to television box sets. I’m of course talking about the highly acclaimed and beloved West World Season One. Yes, this marks the first time a television series will be released on the format and what better way than with this epic series from HBO. Expect it on November 7th of this year with all 10 episodes in glorious HDR 4K and Dolby Atmos sound. There will also be a ton of bonus features too, which are listed out below. I can’t wait, because this might be the BEST TV release of the year. Now we need to get Game of Thrones in 4K.

Film Review: The Beguiled!

by Bryan Kluger on Jun 29th, 2017

Audrey E., here….

The Civil War is rooted deep in the fibers of U.S. history, and there’s an evident fascination in both literature and film with the American lifestyle now gone with the wind. Retellings of war classics never seem to go out of style, so it’s no surprise that over forty years after the release of its 1971 predecessor starring Clint Eastwood, ‘The Beguiled’ is being reintroduced to a new generation. Comparisons to the original inevitably lingered over her shoulder, but Director Sofia Coppola (The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation) gives the film a fresh, female perspective and garnishes it with her excellent use of lighting, smart casting and artistic framing.

2015 Disney Film Release Dates With Trailers!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 30th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

While the world is focusing on auld lang syne and bringing 2014 to a close, Disney is pointedly looking to the future or “To infinity and beyond!” as Buzz Lightyear would say. Walt Disney Studios has given us a wide list of release dates for 2015 including the first Star Wars since the mouse has taken ownership. It’s a big lineup and will, no doubt, bring in a wega-payday for the company. In the last year, three films, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘, ‘Maleficent‘ and ‘Captain America Winter Soldier‘ brought in over $700 million world-wide on their own. It stands to reason they can expect the same from 2015. Let’s kick it off with some animation!

Film Review: ‘Dolphin Tale 2’!!

by Bryan Kluger on Sep 12th, 2014

Janet W., Here…

Dolphins are not fish…they are mammals.  Playful, passionate, and full of expression, dolphins have ways of letting you know what’s on their mind.  Perfectly timed faces full of water from a blowhole, varying pitches of speech, and solemn silences each have their own purpose and meaning.  Fish cannot easily do that.  Dolphin Tale 2 is a wondrous display of these characteristics.  Picking up where the Dolphin Tale left off, Winter (portrayed by the “real” Winter) still lives in Clearwater Marine Aquarium.  She is the main attraction and the aquarium has grown by leaps and bounds.  For those who have seen the first Dolphin Tale (don’t worry it won’t ruin the movie, if you haven’t), Winter’s first friend was Sawyer Nelson (Nathan Gamble).  Sawyer has learned a lot about marine life during his time with Winter and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.  So much so that he is invited to an educational high-seas adventure by a prestigious college.  Such an invitation would be a marine enthusiast’s dream, but it comes with a price.  Three months at sea, far from his friend, Winter, and the area.

Hey guys, Jana here,

There are few actors as widely known in Hollywood as Johnny Depp is right now. If you take his fan base and star power and attach it to a  writer-filmmaker of remarkable erudition like Kevin Smith, what results is going to be momentous. Smith has a farcical sense of humor and everything he writes is peppered with the same wry commentary that is fan-freaking-tastic!

Monty Python Says Goodbye at O2 Arena in London!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jul 8th, 2014
Hi all, Jana here,

We were teased with knowledge it was being put together, we were tormented when we got to do the reddit live Q&A with the legends. Now it’s almost so close I can taste it! If you’re unsure of who I’m talking about let’s talk about how a 5-ounce bird possibly carry a 1-pound coconut? If you still are unsure of who this great group of people are, you should be banished. But seriously, this material has been around for 40 years, you should have to face the Black Knight. Don’t worry about his appearance, it’s just a flesh wound.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Good gravy, man, this film looks so intense that I might have to cover my eyes through most of it. And I know we all love Idris Elba. He has  been excellent in everything has has said “yes” to in the past decade including playing Stringer Bell in HBO’sThe Wire‘, ‘Luther‘, Nelson Mandela, and ‘Pacific Rim‘. The guy has an epic level of charisma. But in this new film ‘No Good Deed‘, he is SCARY-AS-HELL!

And for three days in the rural town of Bethel, New York, half a million people experienced the single most defining moment of their generation; a concert unprecedented in scope and influence, a coming together of people from all walks of life with a single common goal: Peace and music. They called it Woodstock. One year later, a landmark Oscar®-winning documentary captured the essence of the music, the electricity of the performances, and the experience of those who lived it.
