Film Review: ‘The Hangover III’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 23rd, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

the-hangover-3-wide

I’m not quite sure why ‘The Hangover III‘ was called ‘The Hangover III’. The first two films actually dealt with four friends having an epic hangover and their crazy exploits and adventures. This third installment doesn’t even include a hangover and oddly leaves a lot of the comedy at the front door and focuses instead on violence, murdering animals, and action sequences. I’m sure this will score a giant box office reward for its opening weekend, but bad word of mouth should prevent this third and final act from making any more money past the next couple of days.

‘The Hangover III’ Trailer is Here!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 7th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

ZZ1F76CC1D

Well it’s here, folks. We debuted the poster yesterday and today we get the first trailer for the epic conclusion of the money making comedy franchise. I enjoyed the first film quite a bit, and the 2nd one felt like it was the same exact film with the same exact jokes, which got redundant. I hope this third and final film goes all out and is at least a bit original.

Hi, Bryan Here….

HANGOVER3_001

Well, here is the new poster for ‘The Hangover III‘, which is set to release on May 24th. From the looks of this, Las Vegas is in for one wild and destructive time.  Plus it reminds me of Warner Bros.‘ ‘Harry Potter‘ posters.  Synopsis: “The Hangover Part III” is the third and final film in director Todd Phillips’ record-shattering comedy franchise. This time, there’s no wedding. No bachelor party. What could go wrong, right? But when the Wolfpack hits the road, all bets are off. So, i guess this will be the last film of the series. That is until warner decides to reboot it in a few years with a different cast. Looks epic.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Todd Phillips might just make that leap into dramatic films after all.  Phillips directed ‘Old School’, ‘Road Trip’, and ‘The Hangover’ films.  All of his films so far have been comedies, that have really had the same jokes and starred most of the same people.  But now, it looks like he might take the helms of Paramount’s ‘The Gambler’ remake, which had Martin Scorsese attached at one point in time.

Bryan Here…

Earlier today, it was reported that the Mel Gibson cameo as a tattoo artist in the upcoming sequel to The Hangover was cancelled.  This was caused by certain actors and crew members and friends of the producers protesting Mel’s involvement.  Supposedly Zach Galafianakis was the ring leader in this.

So as quick as lightning strikes, there is a replacement for Mel’s role as the tattoo artist.  The character calls for somebody who is completely CRAZY and somebody who you would be scared to talk with.

The man taking on the role now is Liam Neeson.  Yes a Jedi will be in the Hangover sequel.

Hangover star Bradley Cooper had a hand in getting his A-Team co-star the gig for this movie.

Can’t wait to see Liam pull this character off.

What do yall think?

Mel Gibson’s Cameo Cancelled For The Hangover Sequel

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 22nd, 2010

Bryan Here….

Earlier this week, it was reported HERE that Mel Gibson would have a cameo role in the upcoming Hangover Sequel as a tattoo artist.

This did not go over well with some people working on the movie.

Director Todd Phillips said: “I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”

WOW.

What are your thoughts?  do you think Mel should get a….let me see…4th chance?

Mel Gibson Will Have Cameo in The Hangover Sequel

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 19th, 2010

The troubled star whose agency dropped him a while ago, will get another stab at his move career.

Gibson will play  a tattoo artist in the upcoming Hangover sequel.  Filming will be on the Warner Bros. Lot where a Bangkok set has been built since the movie will be taking place in Thailand.  The film will shoot on location in Thailand after a few weeks of shooting on the Warner lot.

“The Hangover” will follow the gang, played by Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zack Galifianakis and Justin Bartha, as they take a boys’ trip to Thailand with a dangerous stop in Bangkok. Asian gangster Mr. Chow, played by Ken Jeong, will also return.

Mike Tyson’s career was boosted by his role in the 1st Hangover film.  He image went from troubled drug user to comedic actor.  I wonder if the same will be said for Gibson.

I’ve always liked Mel as an actor.  I do look forward to his cameo role in this and I hope he gets his guest starring role on AMC’s Mad Men next season.

Plot Details Emerge for “The Hangover” Sequel

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 4th, 2010

Over the past few months, several interviews with director Todd Phillips and the actors have stated that the setting for “The Hangover 2” will be in Thailand.

It looks like this in confirmed.  Thailand is notorious for having some beautiful women roaming the streets as well as a seedy underbelly full of drugs, murder, prostitution and trans-gender sex.  All necessary things for  sequel to The Hangover.

This is what was said in an interview:

“After a hard night of partying Stu gets really drunk and ends up sleeping with a Thai tranny. The next day the guys have to try and rehash the night and figure out what happened.”

So YES.  Count me in.

I, like many others, was super excited when word broke that they were coming out with ‘The Hangover Part II‘ and I was also very anxious to know if they were going to keep with the theme of the movie and do a wake-up and a blackout. That part didn’t bother me. Where I was a bit dumbfounded was the fact that Stu was marrying some Asian girl who had no relevance to the story line. After having seen the movie, I had hoped they would pick up where they left off to lead into Part II to have some sort of explanation as to who this girl is that Stu is marrying. Was he originally supposed to marry the Stripper (Heather Graham’s character)? And the Asian girl was her bridesmaide. Something along those lines.

Film Review: ‘Kevin Hart What Now?’!!

by Janet White on Oct 14th, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

8P05_D002_00556 In Universal Pictures’ Kevin Hart: What Now?, comedic rockstar KEVIN HART follows up his 20 13 hit standup concert movie Let Me Explain, which grossed $32 million domestically and became the thirdhighest live standup comedy movie of all time. Hart takes center stage in this groundbreaking, recordsetting, soldout performance of “What Now?”—filmed outdoors in front of 50,000 people at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field—marking the first time a comedian has ever performed to an atcapacity football stadium. Credit: Frank Masi

An extended opening title sequence takes you through, Kevin Hart, a wannabe James Bond, literally a direct rip of various Bond films. The graphics were pretty cool. Enter the dramatic casino satire, an over-the-top, talking over others’ lines testament to the lunacy of Kevin Hart, Agent 0054. Next comes the stand-up concert that is the meat of Kevin Hart What Now? Hart shoots out of the stage in Trinity (yes, Matrix rip) style and the show begins.

Film Review: ‘War Dogs’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 19th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

thumbnail_24172

War Dogs‘ looks good on paper and the trailer for the film sells the movie’s comedy and fun moments. It seemed like the perfect project for director Todd Phillips (‘The Hangover’ trilogy, ‘Road Trip’, ‘Old School’) as he reunites with Bradley Cooper and adds Jonah Hill and Miles Teller to this story, based on true events about two school friends who love to smoke up and run guns for the government – some of which might be illegal. This is a very different film for Phillips from what we’re used to, and unlike the trailer, the film isn’t all that funny. Sure, there are some moments of small laughter here and there, due to Jonah Hill’s character, but the rest is Phillips’ wink to a mix of gangster movies, including ‘Scarface’, ‘Goodfellas’, ‘Casino’, and even a bit of ‘Drive’.

Film Review: ‘Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 6th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

mike-and-dave-need-wedding-dates

I think the vulgar wedding comedy has formed its own sub genre these days. With films like ‘Wedding Crashers‘, ‘Bridesmaids‘, ‘American Wedding‘, and ‘The Hangover‘, you have all the ingredients to make a modern audience laugh with toilet humor, vulgar language, sex, drugs, excessive amounts of alcohol, and a happy ending (pun very intended). The next on the list of this current sub-genre of wedding comedies is ‘Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates‘, which is actually based off a real life story of brothers Mike and Dave Stangle, who took to the internet to find dates for their sister’s wedding, offering a free trip. They went viral, got a ton of responses, went on national television, and had a book come out.

Film Review: ‘Ride Along 2’!!

by Janet White on Jan 16th, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Ride Along 2 - Bros

Following on the tails of the Ride Along, Ride Along 2 comes rollin’ in.  Ben Barber (Kevin Hart) is finally a cop, straight out of the academy, and still seeking James Payton’s (Ice Cube) respect.  Especially, since Ben is about to marry James’ sister, Angela.  The buddy comedy continues, but lacks luster.  Kevin Hart has his usual diarrhea mouth, but in this film, someone added 20 lbs. of ex-lax to his condition.  Normally 8 out of 10 times, this endless train of ramblings can make your side split.  However, in Ride Along 2 his batting average drops.

The Duff opens with a voice-over introduction by the female lead, Bianca (Mae Whitman), to the stereotypes of high school in true John Tucker Must Die or Breakfast Club style.  Special effects are used to present labels of the different types (tough girl, etc.).  With nearly the same shot composition of Jawbreaker and Juno, we see close-ups of beautiful girls as the narrator announces their qualities and then a quick admission that she was not either of them.  Enter the scary nemesis, Madison (Bella Thorne) just like Not Another Teen Movie and She’s All That.  So many other teenybopper films came to mind as I watched The Duff

Anyone remember a little movie that came out in 1990 with John Ritter and Amy Yasbeck as hopeful, adoptive parents to the child from hell? ‘Problem Child‘ was the movie that was for sure going to scare any teenager even thinking of pre-marital sex, stop dead in their tracks, repent and go to church for the rest of their lives. Obviously it didn’t exactly work that way. That wasn’t even any of the filmmakers goal when they made the flick, I just threw that in, basically, because I can.

MTV Picks Up Comedy ‘Ken Jeong Made Me Do It’!!!

So we know that MTV will produce just about any idea they think that a group of 420-friendly teenagers/young adults/morons will subscribe to. Add into the equation a well-known actor like Ken Jeong. His acting repertoire speaks for itself and the same crowd that watches MTV dreck is the a lot of the same demographic that watch Jeong’s movies. Take ‘The Hangover‘ trilogy and ‘Community‘ for example. He’s huge! He’s a great actor, he’s crazy and his presence alone can sometimes be enough to make me laugh. MTV did something right there, at least. By picking up on a comedy pilot titled ‘Ken Jeong Made Me Do It‘.

Film Review: ‘Are You Here’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 22nd, 2014

Janet W., Here…

areyouhere-zachgalifianakis-owenwilson-amypoehler

Are You Here is the question that should have been asked of the filmmakers.  Normally, I would start with an overview of the film, but let’s get right to the critique.  The plot was unclear and disjointed along with the dialogue. The lack of linear flow in the telling of this story of friendship and family and how they can be interwoven is to blame.  Have you ever loved a friend so much that they were like family?  Were you able to distinguish between helping them and enabling them?  It appears that this may have been the goal the screenwriters were aiming to showcase.  However, random sequences like Dallas’ seemingly endless sexcapdes, Baker’s fast-framed stoner frenzy, and a constant array of buck-naked women that the viewers have to see from head to toe distracts from the narrative.  Sex still sells, I guess.  The film ends in such an abrupt way that the audience is left thinking, “Why have I just sat through all this?”  On top of it all, the film is way too long (8 minutes shy of 2 hours), but really didn’t get anywhere.

Awesome news! The tag-team duo that brought us ‘Bridesmaids‘ is back! Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo are taking celluloid for another spin. ‘Bridesmaids‘ became a slightly unexpected hit on a global scale for being a female-driven comedy. The upcoming flick is going to team Wiig and Mumolo  as writers again, but they will also produce, star and Wiig is going to try her hand at directing the project which is going to be a first effort for the comedian. TriStar Productions is backing the production and they have described the film as the story of “best friends who find themselves in over their heads and out of their depths, which were, perhaps, not too deep to begin with.”  No release date has been set.

Film Review: ‘Last Vegas’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 1st, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

LASTVEGAS_MOVIESTILL-HI-1027133

Upon watching the trailers for ‘Last Vegas‘, a comedy starring several older actors, all over the age of sixty in a movie, very similar to ‘The Hangover‘, made me have my serious doubts on how good this could actually be. On one hand, I saw this film playing out for a crowd over 50 with cute humor that my mother and grandmother can laugh at, but not much else. And on the other hand, this could have just failed on every level, with poor dialogue, bad characters, and no real story plot, but rather just a muse to get some amazing veteran actors together to make a quick buck. Well, I couldn’t be more wrong. This comedy starring Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Kline, and Mary Steenburgen is smart, witty, heartfelt, and hilariously funny. So much so, that I expect great returns at the box office to see these five actors cut a rug and have a ball for two hours on screen.

Film Review: ’21 and Over’!!!

A lot of fun is to be had with ‘21 and Over‘ if you know what you’re getting into. Sure, you’ll hear from many people that it mimics ‘The Hangover‘, possibly to a tee, but in my opinion, I think this entertaining and hilarious movie stand on its own. ‘The Hangover‘ scribes Scott Moore and Jon Lucas get behind the director’s chair together for their first time with this comedy and they prove they have as much skill as Todd Phillips when telling a college tale about drinking and debauchery.

Check Out the Funny Trailer for ’21 and Over’!!!

Hi, Bryan Here….

Here is a trailer for a film called ’21 and Over’, which seems like ‘Project X’, ‘Old School’, and ‘The Hangover’ rolled into one.  This has potential and hopefully it has a bit of originality to it, more than just shock factor. Synopsis: Straight-A college student Jeff Chang has always done what’s expected of him. But when his two best friends Casey and Miller surprise him with a visit for his 21st birthday, he decides to do the unexpected for a change, even though his critical medical school interview is early the next morning. What was supposed to be one beer becomes one night of chaos, over indulgence and utter debauchery in this outrageous comedy.

Bryan’s Review of ‘Bachelorette’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 6th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here…..

Leslye Headland’s ‘Bachelorette’ tries to combine ‘The Hangover’ and ‘Bridesmaids’ into a solid film.  But, with its characters, who I’d rather see pushed out of an airplane at 30,000 feet without a parachute then watch another minute of them on screen, really soured this film’s potential.  ‘Bachelorette’ was originally an off-Broadway play by Headland, who subsequently wrote and directed the film adaptation you see now.  This whole story and cast looks great on paper, however these characters are just terrible people, who really have no redeeming qualities to make you feel good about them or good about yourself watching the film.  And after the whole film shows that these characters are miserable people, the last two minutes of the film tries to wrap everything up in a cozy happy little ball with our four main actresses dancing like nothing happened.  It makes no sense.

Bryan’s Most Anticipated Films for 2011!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 7th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here…

So 2010 is over and 2011 has just begun.  I was recently talking with a friend and we both agreed that 2010 was kind of a let down as far as movies went.  Don’t get me wrong, there were some precious gems riddled throughout the year, but they were not many.  Basically I said, that it was a very uncool year with flashes of coolness in regards to films.

TOP 133 FILMS OF THE LAST DECADE #’S 68-54

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 22nd, 2010

Bryan Here…

Knocking out this list on time and schedule nowadays.  Feels good.  Some great films on this part of the list.  Some that I have not seen in a while that I will have to watch again soon. We’re getting down to the #1 spot pretty quickly.  Enjoy this part of the list #’s 68-54.  As usual, you will get the title of the movie and the date it was released plus a mini review/memory by me.  Also a link to purchase the movie if you are ever so inclined which would donate a small percentage back to this website so we can keep giving you AWESOME material and prizes.

Enjoy

68_ Iron Man – May 2, 2008

Another comic book film.  Iron Man is really really good in pretty much every way.  Robert Downey Jr. is killer in this film as the super-hero and Jeff Bridges is a pretty convincing bad guy.  This film is a lot of fun and full of laughs and action.  Can’t wait for the sequel and Avengers film.  Go Sam Jackson as Nick Fury.

67_ Brick – March 31, 2006

This film is great.  A wonderful homage to the old 30’s noir films.  Set in present time but take the characters and have them talk like they did in the 30’s noir film and a plot and story line likewise.  It is so great.  Tons of twists and turns.  Joseph Gordon Levitt is amazing.  I am proud to have this on the list.  Love this film.

66_ Drag Me To Hell – May 29, 2009

Sam Raimi’s return to the horror genre from his long stint on the Spidey franchise is 100 % AWESOME.  Sadly no Bruce Campbell, but Drag Me To Hell is Evil Dead I & II and Army of Darkness rolled into one film.  Yes it is that great.  This is your standard tale  of a gypsy woman curing a young girl this curse activates a demon to terrorize its victims and DRAG THEM TO HELL.  Good scares and great laughs.  A lot of fun.

65_ Zoolander – September 28, 2001

Ben Stiller is great director and a great character actor.  Tons of quotable lines from this film even today.  A dark comedy in the world of super-models.  I mean in the first five minutes of the film a few super models die in  a gas station fire which they started.  HILARIOUS.  Tons of great cameos and acting all around.  Zoolander will always have a place in my home and heart.   I mean he did found the Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can’t Read Good.

64_ Napoleon Dynamite – June 11, 2004

I saw this film five times before it was initially released wide and I loved every minute of it.  I really cannot tell what time period it is in other than sometime in the vague present, but Napoleon is a kid in high school who is maybe the most awkward kid ever, but he means well.  This is the story of his life in the span of a few weeks.  It is quite hilarious in this dry humor.  This character is one of the cult icons now in history.  The dance number at the end to Canned heat classic.  Love this film.

63_ Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – March 19, 2004

A gem of a film from Gondry.  This film is fantastic film.  Almost like you are in a dream and nightmare at the same time through out the whole film.  A couple undergo a procedure to erase each other from their memories when their relationship turns sour, but it is only through the process of loss that they discover what they had to begin with.  Truly fantastic.

62_ Ratatouille – June 29, 2007

I really liked this pixar film.  All about the restaurant and food and cooking industry.  So much heart and love is in this film.  It looks beautiful and and the voice acting by Patton Oswalt is wonderful.  Anyone can cook, even a rat.  Love it.

61_ The Departed – October 6, 2006

A really great gangster film from the best gangster director.  That is Marty Scorcesse.  Boston gangs.  All-star cast and tons of twists and references to other mob films.  Leonardo Di Caprio plays an undercover agent in the mob and tries to keep his sanity and wits during the whole time.  What a great film.  Alec Baldwin is hilarious in this film.

60_ Munich – December 23, 2005

A Spielberg film about the true events and revenge of the horrible attack at the Munich Olympic games against the Israel team.  Eric Bana leads the grou to kill one by one the terrorists responsible for the murders.  What an amazing film.  Everything is great about this film except for the last ten minutes which is what to expect from Spielberg films.

59_ Thank You For Smoking – March 17, 2006

I really loved this film.  This about lobbyists in our nation.  Lobbyists for tobacco, guns, and alcohol and how they persuade politicians and important people to keep their industry making large amounts of money.  It is very good and entertaining.  Pretty scary too that this actually goes on.  Great writing and acting all around.

58_ The Hangover – June 5, 2009

Form the director of Old School and Road Trip comes the next film about a crazy Bachelor Party in vegas with strippers, guns, tasers, naked people, Mike Tyson, tigers and much much more.  I believe this film is the highest gross out of any R rated film ever.  It is very funny.  Very funny.  Leslie Chow.

57_ Superbad – August 17, 2007

Oh this great comedy film brought tears of laughter to my face.  Oh so funny.  Jonah Hill and Michael Cera are best friends in their last days of high school who have only really hung out with each other and are invited to  a huge party and are asked to supply the liquor which is the “entire funness” of the party.  This is their journey to accomplish this with their friend McLovin who is a cult icon now too.  This film is great and has most of the Apatow gang in it.  Not only does this film bring the best jokes but it also has a great heart and soul in it as well.  Friendship.

56_ Serenity – September 30, 2005

Man Joss Whedon kicks ass.  His vision of a sci-fi/western world is phenomenal.  This was a television series before a film.  The film is equally awesome as the show was.  I wish more films were like this.  It is entertaining, scary, funny, romantic, and pretty much all the emotions across the board in the span of two hours.  This will entertain you for years to come.  There is a reason all these shirts and posters say Joss Whedon is my Master now.  It is true.

55_ 300 – March 9, 2007

Frank Miller’s brutal Spartan comic became a reality when director Zack Snyder took the helm and adapted it into a movie.  This movies is 99% shot on a green screen with a “crush” technique that gives the film its rustic vintage look.  I was wondering how they were going to turn a 32 page comic book into a whole two hour feature length film, but they did.  And did it well.  I saw a screener of this movie way before its initial release and it was introduced by UFC Champ Chuck Liddell.    Chuck got us all in the mood for a hardcore brutal film about honor and freedom.  The fight scenes were filmed extremely well and has been copied in many other movies after this one.  I am referring to the normal pace to the slow- mo action beats all in one shot.  The use of heavy metal music was an added booster to the balls this movies has.  I really liked this movie.  Very entertaining.

54_ Hot Fuzz – February 14, 2007

The second feature film from BADASS director, Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead), brings us his vision of the ultimate fast paced action thriller in Hot Fuzz.  This film starred the same cast as Shaun of the Dead, and was about the best police officer in London getting re-assigned to a very small quiet village.  The people who live in the village are not what they seem.  This film packs a huge punch of action and gut busting laughs.  The end action sequence lasts about 25 minutes and is balls to the wall AWESOME.  Edgar Wright can do NO wrong.  I saw the U.S. premiere of this film at AFI, and met Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Edgar Wright, and Dolph Lundgren (who introduced the film).  A great film that I will enjoy through the ages and one of the best action films EVER.

BLURAY/DVD Releases For the Last Week of September 2010

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 27th, 2010

Tons of releases this week including my favorite film of all time.  It seems that a few weeks go by with some “ok” releases then one week later oodles of BADASS releases come out, burning a giant hole in my wallet.  Well this is one of those weeks.  Like before, click on the link/picture to be whisked away to AMAZON where you can purchase the movie for a big discount.  Enjoy this week’s releases.

This was a hard film to catch in theaters because it was a very limited theatrical run. Remember that film a few years ago, “Open Water” about that couple that went snorkeling in the ocean and their tour boat left them in the middle of the ocean accidentally? Well, “Frozen” is a little bit like that. A few college kids go skiing for a weekend and take the chair lift up one last time right when the park closes. Midway up the ski lift and about 100 feet up in the air, the chair lift stops and the park closes for the entire week and does not open again until the weekend. Five days without food or water in freezing conditions. What would you do? Check this film out!

Special Features include:

Audio commentary with Writer/director Adam Green and actors Shawn Ashmore, Kevin Zegers and Emma Bell
Catching Frostbite: The Origins of Frozen
Three Below Zero
Shooting Through It
Beating the Mountain: Surviving Frozen

*Exclusive to Bluray* – Audio commentary with Adam Green, cinematographer Will Barratt and editor Ed Marx

A spin-off of 2008’s hugely successful Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek reunites Jonah Hill (Superbad), playing a low-ranking record-label employee, and Russell Brand (Despicable Me), the ultimate larger-than-life rock-star Aldous Snow. Also starring are Sean Combs (aka P. Diddy) in a devastatingly funny comic turn, Rose Byrne (“Damages”) and Elisabeth Moss (“Mad Men”), plus cameos from music and media stars including Pink, Christina Aguilera, Lars Ulrich, Pharrel, Meredith Viera, Billy Bush, Mario Lopez, Kurt F. Loder and Paul Krugman. This is as raunchy as “The Hangover” and as funny as Superbad.

Special Features include:

Gag Reel
Getting in Tune with the Greek
The Making Of “African Child”
Five complete music videos featuring Aldous Snow, Infant Sorrow, and Jackie Q
Musical Performances

I really loved Iron Man 2. It was such a blast in the theater to see. The action was non-stop and the characters were even more developed which made me care amore about them. This is something that has been lacking in the comic book film adaptations. Seeing Iron Man and War Machine team up and kill bad guys was out of this world. Mickey Rourke did a phenomenal job as the villain “Whiplash”. This movie had it all for me, even the cool cameos of Thor, Hulk, Black Panther, and the awesome Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. I am looking forward to a 3rd film as well as the Avengers movie in a couple of years.

Special Features include:

Commentary by Jon Favreau
Creating Stark Expo

Finally. My favorite movie of all time. The 1933 version of King Kong. Actually I have two favorite movies. King Kong and Army of Darkness, but Army of Darkness has already been released in HD, but King Kong (1933) has not, until this week. What an epic movie this is. I love everything about this film. It is not so much an action adventure story but a love story. Pure and simple. “It was beauty killed the beast.” From that first moment that Kong sees Fay, he falls in love, but deep down he knows he will be doomed, for he cannot have anything so beautiful in life. But he protects her from everything and will stop at nothing to be with her, even if it means his own demise. This movie is a must own. i am so excited that this is finally out on BLURAY.

Special Features include:

Commentary by creature creator Ray Harryhausen and visual effects artist Ken Ralston, with archival sound bites from Merian C. Cooper and Fay Wray
I’m Kong: The Exploits of Merian C. Cooper (2005 TCM documentary)
The Making of Kong, Eighth Wonder of the World (7-part documentary)
Trailers

I will see anything with David Bowie. Anything. Especially a David Bowie War Film. Now this is a criterion release which means it is the best release you can get. “In this captivating, exhilaratingly skewed World War II drama from Nagisa Oshima, David Bowie regally embodies the character Celliers, a high-ranking British officer interned by the Japanese as a POW. Music star Ryuichi Sakamoto (who also composed this film’s hypnotic score) plays the camp commander, who becomes obsessed with the mysterious blond major, while Tom Conti is British lieutenant colonel Mr. Lawrence, who tries to bridge the emotional and language divides between his captors and fellow prisoners. Also featuring actor-director Takeshi Kitano in his first dramatic role, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence is a multilayered, brutal, at times erotic tale of culture clash that was one of Oshima’s greatest successes.”

Special Features include:

•The Oshima Gang, an original making-of featurette
New video interviews with producer Jeremy Thomas, screenwriter Paul Mayersberg, actor Tom Conti, and actor-composer Ryuichi Sakamoto
Hasten Slowly, an hour-long documentary about author and adventurer Laurens van der Post, whose autobiographical novel is the basis for the film
Original theatrical trailer
A booklet featuring an essay by film writer Chuck Stephens and a 1983 interview with director Nagisa Oshima by Japanese film writer Tadao Sato

Rock & Rule stars Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Cheap Trick and more in this animated classic rock movie. The movie is about Angel, a member of a punk rock band in the apocalyptic future, is kidnapped by Mok, a legendary super rocker. Obsessed with an evil experiment, Mok plans to use Angel’s voice to summon a demon from another dimension. The rest of the band follows Mok to Nuke York in an attempt to rescue her and then the ultimate battle of good vs. evil begins. Why would you say no to this movie? This will be watched with beer and friends at midnight.

Wow. Two releases in the same week with Iggy Pop. Add to that cast, Alice Cooper, Henry Rollins, and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) and vampires, and you got yourself “SUCK”. It is about a band’s bass player that becomes a vampire, down and out rock band, The Winners are launched into spotlight. Stalked by creepy producers, wild groupies and the legendary vampire hunter Eddie Van Helsing, The Winners soon find fame to be a fate worse than death. Doesn’t that sound AWESOME?

Special Features include:

Audio commentary
Making-of featurette
Music Video
Cast-and-crew interviews
Deleted scenes

Another one of those PG-13 animated superhero films. Ed Asner lends his voice talent to the cast which is always a plus. “After a spaceship splashes down in Gotham City Harbor, Batman and Superman encounter a mysterious Kryptonian with powers as great as those of the Man of Steel. The Kryptonian is soon revealed to be Kara, cousin of Superman, who takes her under his wing to educate her about the ways of Earth. However, the villainous Darkseid has other plans. Seeing an opportunity to finally defeat Superman, Darkseid abducts and gains control of Kara, utilizing the powerful Kryptonian to do his bidding. It’s up to Batman and Superman to save Kara, but they’ll have to take the fight to Darkseid within his hostile world – where unknown, deadly threats lurk around every corner, including a brainwashed Kryptonian able to match Superman blow-for-blow.”

Special Features include:

DC Showcase: Green Arrow (short film)
Sneak Peek at the Next DC Animated Movie
Supergirl: The Last Daughter of Krypton featurette
Two bonus TV episodes handpicked by Bruce Timm

*Exclusive BLURAY Featues* include:

The New Gods
Orion and Mister Miracle Mini-featurettes
Two more TV episodes handpicked by Bruce Timm
Digital Copy

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 17th, 2010

Todd Phillips who gave us “Old School” and the more recent “The Hangover” is in post prodection of his next film called “Due Date” starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis.

The synopsis: “Peter Highman (Robert Downey Jr.) is an expectant first-time father whose wife’s due date is a mere five days away. As Peter hurries to catch a flight home from Atlanta to be at her side for the birth, his best intentions go completely awry when a chance encounter with aspiring actor Ethan Tremblay (Zach Galifianakis) forces Peter to hitch a ride with Ethan—on what turns out to be a cross-country road trip that will ultimately destroy several cars, numerous friendships and Peter’s last nerve.”

Favorite Movie Scene of the Day #7!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 29th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Back in 1941, Disney was at a low point. They had lost money on Pinocchio and Fantasia and were facing some nasty cuts and money loss. It was up to this new little film about an elephant with giant ears to put the company back on top again. I’m of course talking about Dumbo, which was originally supposed to be a short film of only a few minutes, but ended up running at just an hour long. Still short by today’s standards. Out of the 1940s, Dumbo was the most financially successful film, brining in almost double it’s cost and was met with a ton of great reviews. I mean, who doesn’t love Dumbo?

Film Review: ‘Keeping Up With the Joneses’!!

by Janet White on Oct 21st, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

keeping-up-jones-gaffneys

Everyone gets suspicious when new neighbors move into the neighborhood. However, when the new neighbors, Tim and Natalie Jones (Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot), are super hot, then what? Sweet suburban couple, Jeff and Karen Gaffney (Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher), is immediately fascinated. Can you blame them? The Gaffneys’ lives are quite mundane despite the fact that their children are away at camp. The Joneses are chic, publicly affectionate, and suspiciously nice. The Gaffneys will never be the same again. Read the rest of this entry »

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…..

diego-luna

I had the distinct pleasure to talk with the writer/director/actor that is known as Diego Luna about his new film ‘Mr. Pig‘. Who is Diego Luna, you ask? He was in ‘Y Tu Mamá También‘, ‘Elysium‘, ‘Open Range‘, The Terminal‘, and ‘Milk‘ to name only a few films. Oh yeah, he’s also starring in the upcoming ‘Star Wars: Rogue One‘ film, coming out later this year.

The Trailer For ‘War Dogs’ Is Here and Hilarious!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Mar 24th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

War-Dogs-poster

Director Todd Phillips has just released the trailer for his latest venture, and it’s not a Hangover film! Phillips made his name with the ‘Hangover‘ comedies and the Will Ferrell based ‘Old School‘. This time he’s taken on a different story and working with Miles Teller and Jonah Hill telling the true story of two young men, David Packouz and Efraim Diveroli, who won a $300 million contract from the Pentagon to arm America’s allies in Afghanistan.

Film Review: ‘Think Like A Man Too’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 19th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

1200290 - THINK LIKE A MAN TOO

It’s been two years since we last saw the characters of ‘Think Like A Man‘, which was based off of Steve Harvey’s book ‘Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man‘. The first film followed a group of guys and girls falling in love with one another with all of the ups and downs of a relationship. It was funny, charming, and worth the time. Director Tim Story is back in the director’s chair again for this second outing. Statistically and historically, if a film on a modest budget does well, more than likely there will be a sequel.

Suzanne Reviews ‘Magic Mike’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 28th, 2012

Woozie Here…

Are there naked slabs of man? Why yes, yes there are. But this is not all that Magic Mike has to offer. I have to admit, I dismissed this movie when I first saw the previews. I like looking at men – especially this cast of men – but filling two hours of film with this is likely to get old real fast. When I realized Steven Soderbergh was at the helm, I gave it a chance, and I’m glad I did. Magic Mike delivers on all the raunchiness hoped for out of a movie about male strippers, but there is more to it than Channing Tatum’s bare, rhythmic body.

Bryan Sits In Class With A ‘Bad Teacher’!!! (A Review)

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 23rd, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

When I first saw the red band trailer for ‘Bad Teacher’ I’ll admit that I laughed quite a bit.  It was extremely vulgar in the way of language.  It reminded me of Bad Santa.  It seemed like one of those films that the comedy was going to come from the use of vulgar language.  And I was totally right.  After seeing the film, the comedy is built on the use of vulgar language.  But sadly the film doesn’t work.  Cameron Diaz is a wretched mess throughout the whole film while Justin Timberlake’s amazing talent is wasted on horrible dialogue and story.  The only good part of the film is Jason Segel which unfortunately only has about 10 or 15 minutes of screen time.  But every time he is on film, it is comedic gold.

Bryan Gets A ‘Hall Pass’!!! (A Review)

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 14th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

Hall Pass‘ is genuinely funny movie at times.  I think it gets off track here and there, but most of the time it packs gut busting laughs, and that excellent raunchy Farrelly brother humor we have all come to known and love.  This film has a brilliant cast that includes, Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis from SNL, Jenna Fischer from the Office, Christina Applegate, Stephen Merchant, and Richard Jenkins.  I have to say that Sudeikis is definitely the best and funniest actor in the entire film.
