Hi Bryan Here…

Director/Writer/Producer Brad Bird (Ratatouille, The Incredibles, The Simpsons, and the upcoming Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol film) accepted an award he got for excellence in animation, but was not able to attend the ceremony due to him being held captive by a couple of really suspicious people (Simon Pegg and Tom Cruise) at gun point.

Hey guys, Jana here,

themonster_bd_3dFrom the director of ‘The Strangers‘ comes another movie that gets you in touch with fear at a very primal level, ‘The Monster‘. Bryan Bertino knows how to generate amazing scares on the big screen, the aforementioned Strangers had me double and triple checking locks for weeks because I was sufficiently spooked. The trailer for ‘The Monster‘ looks to hit me even moreso right in the feels because of the mother/child aspect.

‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 8th, 2019

“Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is a painful and sloppy movie that I couldn’t wait until it ended.”

Those horror stories we used to read growing up that we picked up at our school’s book fair has finally come to the big screen. ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark‘, which is a series of short stories written by Alvin Schwartz has been adapted into a feature film. The filmmakers behind this are André Øvredal (‘The Autopsy of Jane Doe‘) and Guillermo del Toro, both of which bring weight to this project. These books have been a hit over the years where dedicated fans have yearned for a movie. With the talent behind this, I expected a top notch horror film, but what I got was a painful and sloppy movie that I couldn’t wait until it ended. I don’t exactly know where it went wrong, considering the amazing crew, but Øvredal and del Toro should’ve known better than to release something this bad to the public.

“The third installment caps off an incredible franchise with the most emotionally resonant chapter that gives all involved a fitting end.”

The How To Train Your Dragon trilogy has always rivaled Pixar movies for me. The animation is great, the voice acting is top-notch, the story and themes are full realized, and the emotional beats are earned. The third installment caps off an incredible franchise with the most emotionally resonant chapter that gives all involved a fitting end.

DIFF Film Review: ‘Berlin Syndrome’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 4th, 2017

Beka P., here….

berlin-syndrome

Intense. Berlin Syndrome is hold onto your seat, bite your nails, cover your face- intense. The premise of this film may seem far-fetched to some, but it happens more than we would like to accept. The film follows a young Australian photographer, Clare, as she travels to Berlin and meets a handsome stranger, Andi. She ends up going home with him, and by morning she has become a prisoner in his home. The best part about this film compared to other films that have addressed abductions or the relationships between captives and captors is how it unfolds. The beginning of the film, while somewhat slow, is paralleled to how Clare realizes she’s trapped. And then it hits you, as it hits her, and there’s no going back.

Film Review: ‘Carnage Park’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 27th, 2016

Joel H., Here…

carnage-park

Alright, folks. Today, we’re going to brew up a little horror/thriller action. Let’s take a little Leatherface, mostly his hobbies and the essence of a sewing fetish. Add in quite a few heavy doses of The Hills Have Eyes – you know, the whole booby trap (THAT’S WHAT I SAY!) bit? For the final part of the mix, we’re going to sample a little bit of Mick from Wolf Creek lore. Pour it into a bowl once churned together, and we have ourselves a nice little Carnage Park.
