Hey guys, Jana here,

We are closing in on Texas Frightmare Weekend for 2017 with just a little under two weeks to go. May 5 will be upon us before we know it and all the glorious events will be open and ready for us, the avid fan, rabid amateur filmmaker, the nuclear family. Whatever form you’re in, you’re going to enjoy the Southwest’s premier horror convention and film festival. If you’ve got an interest in genre film, you’re not going to want to be anywhere else but the Hyatt Regency DFW Airport May 5-7, 2017, for the 12th annual event.

Texas Frightmare Weekend is billed as the Premier Southwest Horror Convention.  This year they celebrated their 10th anniversary and I was able to attend for the whole weekend for the first time.  Of course, I’ll be “penning” another article about the overall experience after I’m finished writing up everything else, but I must get this one out first.  The reason?   Because I LOVE movies.  A little known fact about the event is that they offer screening opportunities.  It is difficult to choose what to watch between the two rooms, but over the weekend I got to see enough to speculate on a few of them.  Oh, and there will be spoilers.

Texas Frightmare Weekend 2015 – Lets just say, I had a long list of people I wanted to speak with and Mr. Julian Sands was quite at the top of it. I don’t think my results this weekend were particularly typical but I have to say that I hope next year was as enjoyable as this year. Speaking to Mr. Sands was quite intimidating at first but I like to think I managed to get back to the purpose of the interview relatively quickly, but I must say… just thinking about it does still kind of make me scream a little in the back of my brain. Only this time, it is from pure gratitude and not so much terror…. though, I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Pinhead

I had the honor of speaking with Pinhead himself, Doug Bradley at Texas Frightmare Weekend. We discussed his favorite ‘Hellraiser‘ moment, the construction of his costume and make-up, and his latest project, which is adorable. It was so great to talk to him here in Dallas. He is such a sweetheart under all of those pins, white makeup and chains. We hope to see more of Doug and Pinhead in the near future. But until then, we will see him in our nightmares. Enjoy this fun interview.

Twister_Sister_-_Stay_Hungry

It’s the 15th anniversary of Dee Snider’sStrangeland‘ and I had the chance to talk to him about what it was like acting in his own creation at Texas Frightmare Weekend 2014. He is on the lookout for a good script for another horror movie too. He also told me about a Christmas musical he wrote, which I must now find a copy of. Fun fact: Did you know that Dee Snider and Twisted Sister was in ‘Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure‘? They were. Also you can check out Snider on the amazing horror tv series ‘Holliston‘.  You gotta check it out. Enjoy the interview.

I was so happy to be able to talk to actress Jenette Goldstein at Texas Frightmare Weekend. Goldstein played the memorable character Vasquez in “Aliens” and Janelle in “Terminator 2“. She is such a chameleon in the roles she picks that she is almost unrecognizable in person. We talk about her character development and how much of a bad ass she really is. This was such a fun interview. Enjoy.

I was in full fan girl mode when I met The Soska Sisters at Texas Frightmare Weekend! They created an awesome exploitation film called “Dead Hooker In A Trunk” and “American Mary”. If you haven’t seen these flicks you need to check them out! We also discuss women in the horror industry, how ‘Dead Hooker In A Trunk’ came about, and their love of the superhero Deadpool. Enjoy the interview.

Texas Frightmare Weekend Recap!!

To put it lightly, ‘Texas Frightmare Weekend‘ was AWESOME.  From the amazing guests to the outrageous costumes, to the comics, toys, posters, and movie props – all of it was a blast! This was my first time at Texas Frightmare Weekend so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But needless to say my expectations were succeeded. It was at the Hyatt Hotel at DFW airport and by the time I got there on Friday, there were already a ton of people there. This hotel is perfect for this event.  There was ample room for everyone to move around and everything was easily accessible. I immediately went to see Mr. George Romero (the godfather of zombie films) and Tom Savini (makeup artist extraordinaire). Their lines were fairly long but they moved quickly. Romero looks great and seemed to have a great time while Savini looks like he is tired of the convention circuit. It made me laugh. Everyone who worked at the event was very helpful as well.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Texas FrightMare Weekend is almost here, and it looks like it will be the biggest horror convention yeet, packed with tons of horror movie actors, actresses, and directors from your favorite scary movies. You’ll be able to meet the legendary zombie director ‘George Romero‘, Linda Hamilton, and a ‘Terminator‘ reunion minus Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron. Plus, you’ll be able to watch the original ‘Dawn of the Dead‘ with George Romero himself. How cool is that. Below, you’ll be able to find out all of the cool info on guests, times, and bands playing this year at the Festival. Enjoy and see you there.

Hi, Bryan Here….

I’m so excited for this release.  Finally, the ultimate edition blu-ray for John Carpenter’s ‘The Live’ starring Rowdy Roddy Piper will be released November 6th, 2012.  I was hoping they’d get this out before Halloween, but at least they are getting it out before the holiday season.  Tons of AWESOME extras come with this release.  I can wait.  No specs have been announced yet, but I will update everyone once those become available. That cover art is too cool.
