Here’s the new ‘Exorcist’ Trailer!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 21st, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

CilBVwhVEAEc2jM

Fox has released a new trailer for their new TV series ‘The Exorcist’, which is based off of William Blatty’s 1971 book of the same name, and of course the hit film that gave us all nightmares for years to come. The show will premiere on September 23rd of this year. I just hope this is somewhat good and scary, but my hopes are not high for this one, considering this is not on HBO.

Epic List Of The Top 10 Road Trip Flicks!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jul 3rd, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

tumblr_nx5wmzgYvb1qewpgqo1_500

Summer means a lot to me, there’s baseball, which I waxed pretty poetic about in last week’s Top 10 Baseball Movies post. There’s fishing, the fourth of July, a multi-colored tongue from Otter Pops, and the all important road trip. Your trip can be a short jaunt to the lake or it can be a days long event that usually culminates in an epic destination – Wally World, anyone? Whether you trip on your own, with your friends or with your family, there’s something wonderful about having a full tank of gas, a stereo full of tunes and the open road in front of you. Depending on who you’re with it can either feel like a hostage situation or a relaxing break from the weekly drag. Most good road trips feel like a bit of both, not to mention the longing for the comfort that is your home toilet.

I’m gonna count down my top 10 movies that feature a road trip. Strap in, kick on the A/C and let the lull of the road below you relaxes your worries. This was not an easy list to winnow down to only 10 with a few honorable mentions. I left off the obvious ‘Thelma and Louise‘, they’re best friends, they kill someone and drive off a cliff. Yeah, I didn’t give you a spoiler alert there because if you haven’t seen this movie by now, you were never going to. Some road trip movies are better than others and we had differing opinions from each other making this list. So read along and tell me where we agree or disagree or what I’ve left out.

Japan’s highly praised Studio Ghibli raised the animation bar when they introduced the world to a story that brought in studio-gold with an Academy Award – ‘Spirited Away‘. It was thought impossible, but the production commpany one-upped itself with one of the most beautifully animated pictures, ‘When Marnie Was There‘.

Dimension Films Acquires ‘Wild Oats’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 9th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here…

Dimension Films continues its acquisitions streak with the pick up of the road-trip comedy WILD OATS featuring a talented cast including Academy Award® winner Shirley MacLaine, Academy Award® nominee Jacki Weaver and Academy Award® winner Alan Arkin . The film is directed by Howard Deutch who helmed the classics PRETTY IN PINK and SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL, and recently worked at HBO directing shows such as BIG LOVE and HUNG. Claudia Myers and Gary Kanew penned the script which has been described as a spunky comedy that is a cross between SIDEWAYS and THELMA AND LOUISE.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’ is a beautiful, creative, and unique look into the life of Jesus.  Criterion rolls out the red carpet again with this blu-ray version  with top of the line video and audio presentations, some decent extras, and one hell of a film.  This is spine #70 and I highly recommend this bluray.  Definitely worth the upgrade if you already have it.

Hi Bryan Here…..

The 84th annual Academy Award nominations are in.  There are a couple of surprises that I was very happy to see on here and tons of disappointment.  It looks like the Academy went with 9 Best Picture noms this year rather than 10.  They also only went with 3 noms for make up which I can think of others, and only two for original song.  Was this a time issue, so that the event would be over on time for once rather than have all 5 songs being sung?  I don’t like it, but that’s how it is this year.  Below you will see each category with my thoughts.  Enjoy.

The Bishop Charlotte Reporting….

Melissa McCarthy’s new comedy Tammy is in the works. A raunchy road-trip flick, the film centers around an overweight woman who can’t catch a break. She gets fired from Hardee’s, discovers that her husband is having an affair, and then decides to go on a road trip.

It’s the song Joel and Ethan Coen made beyond famous in their 1998 cult film hit “The Big Lebowski”, all with the thanks to musician and producer T-Bone Burnett for plucking this gem out of near obscurity, and the absolute one song that has been on my ‘I-must-own-this-record-if-it’s-the-last-thing-I-ever-do’ list. It’s also the one song in the history of music that gives some shred of coolness and dignity to Kenny Rogers, despite the many terrible country cross-over songs we’ve been subjected to all these many years. “Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)” is the epitome of awesome regardless of where it’s been or who has sung it.
