‘Bumblebee: Film Review!!

by Janet White on Dec 22nd, 2018

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

B-127 is a film that is centered on one of the most beloved Transformers. Most people love Optimus Prime and a few “special” people love Megatron, however, B-127 is cooler than them both without question. B-127…you know whom that is, right? Bumblebee formerly known B-127 was sent to Earth under the order of Optimus Prime as its protector. Bumblebee landed on Earth and immediately into battle as well. A Decepticon pounced on Bumblebee and robbed him of his voice communications module. One additional hardship befalls Bumblebee as his memory is corrupted and amnesia weighs him down to an infant child. Plot sound familiar? Read the rest of this entry »

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 23rd, 2017

Tis the season to be thankful for many things. Family, friends, food, jobs, and Bruce Campbell. It’s Thanksgiving time and we here at Boomstick Comics just love movies. We love everything about them. Even the bad ones. While you’re eating those delicious bites of Turkey, watching ‘Charlie Brown Thanksgiving‘ or the Dallas Cowboys Game, we want to share with you some movies that we are thankful for. These movies have touched us in some way and have helped shaped our creative lives. Maybe this list will inspire you to make your own list and share it with us. These are the movies we are thankful for and dearly love.

Speaking of movies, Criterion has unveiled the first films they will release for 2018, starting in January, which looks like it’s gonna be BADASS! I mean, are we really getting ‘The Breakfast Club’ on Criterion? YES, yes we are. Does that mean we will get more John Hughes’ films in the future? Let’s hope so. Below you can read about each release.

Hi, Bryan Here…..

MusicSheetOldBloodFILMS

Mondo has only released a handful of soundtracks on vinyl since they first opened online, but this year they are hitting the ground full force with releasing more amazing movie soundtracks on the best quality format to listen to music. So far this year we have had ‘Poltergeist‘, ‘The Deadly Spawn‘, and the recent ‘Drive‘ soundtrack, which sold out in record time in under 30 minutes. And just this past week, they sold out of their newest soundtrack, ‘Oblivion‘, which has an amazing score. The cover artwork is amazing and the sound is even better with their releases. Mondo clearly knows what they’re doing when it comes to art and soundtracks.

Hollywood is Remaking ‘Weird Science’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 18th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

Weird_Science_Cast_760

John Hughes would not be happy about this. Universal Pictures and Silver Pictures are set to remake ‘Weird Science’, the 1985 iconic film that was the superlative tale of nerds who had their ultimate wish come true. Joel Silver will produce the film as he produced the original with Hughes back in the 80s. Michael Bacall will pen the screenplay for the remake. Bacall wrote the remake of ‘21 Jump Street’ (which was another 80s remake) and the party film ‘Project X’.

Film Review: ‘The Duff’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 20th, 2015

Janet W., Here…

the-duff

The Duff opens with a voice-over introduction by the female lead, Bianca (Mae Whitman), to the stereotypes of high school in true John Tucker Must Die or Breakfast Club style.  Special effects are used to present labels of the different types (tough girl, etc.).  With nearly the same shot composition of Jawbreaker and Juno, we see close-ups of beautiful girls as the narrator announces their qualities and then a quick admission that she was not either of them.  Enter the scary nemesis, Madison (Bella Thorne) just like Not Another Teen Movie and She’s All That.  So many other teenybopper films came to mind as I watched The Duff

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

CriterionLogoCovers

After a two week vacation, The Multi-Media Men are back with the 35th episode that covers all things in the entertainment industry. We had a full house this time around with myself Bryan Kluger, Adam Conway from the Angelika Film Center, Gadi Elkon from Selig Film News, Andrew Conway, Gwen Reyes from Fresh Fiction, and Susan Kamyab from This Chix Flix. It was a lot of fun to say the least. As usual, we start off each episode with some sort of Top 3 list, and this 35th episode is no different. We decided to come up with some movies that Criterion should consider adding to their ever impressive collection. There are some excellent suggestions here along with some ideas for great bonus features. If you are unfamiliar with Criterion, check them out HERE. Basically, they are like the Neiman Marcus of home video. Criterion has the best video and audio transfers in the business and generally has the best bonus features in town. Not to mention that almost all of their films are five-star movies. So here is what we think Criterion should release in the coming year or so. Let us know  if you agree or missed anything. And please let us know what you think by going to our FACEBOOK page, which you should visit to catch up on all the latest information. And don’t forget to visit iTunes and Stitcher to subscribe to our podcast. Enjoy the show.

The Top Lucky 13 Horror Movie Soundtracks!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 4th, 2012

Lisa S. Here….

While compiling this list, I realized there was no way I could choose only 10 of the best horror soundtracks. So, because I thrive on being different, I am very pleased to bring you 13 of the choicest, rarest, and most kick ass horror soundtracks that I know of. Every one of the following are so good, it was really difficult to rate them from best to bestest.  Each and every one of these titles hails from the very late 70’s thru the 80’s…how incredibly biased of me.

I hope you enjoy it.

The Top 20 Female Badasses In Film/TV!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 28th, 2012

Hi, Bryan and Lisa S. Here…..

9d8c1968aa60cdb4dca86ed6790187e2

I had some help writing this article with writer, Lisa S.   Lisa hails from netherworld of the Northwest and is not above watching zombie movies for 24 hours straight.  She loves all kinds of scary movies and is an avid music fan.  You might even find her perusing the used DVD bin at your local movie store looking for old Ernest movies and Sifl and Olly discs.  Lisa helped quite a bit with this article and you can expect her read many more of her articles on this site from this point forward.  Give her a warm welcome and visit her online book and record store HERE.

Now let’s get to the list.  Here are Boomstick’s Top 20 Female Badasses in film and television.  I tried to keep it in the horror/sci-fi genre, but a couple of action star made it in there.  These females are the most hardcore we feel, by how much ass they kick, their courage, and their sex appeal.  We dare you to find better role models and badasses than this.  Enjoy the list.

Watch the Entire Ferris Bueller Super Bowl Commercial!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 30th, 2012

Hi Bryan Here….

Well, last week, we posted a strange video that popped up that was a 10 second commercial that featured Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller once again.  And the end title was the date for the Super Bowl.  Soon after we posted the video, we got word that it was a promo spot for the new Honda CR-V.  The promo will be featured on Super Bowl Sunday.  While this is not the coolest news ever, it certainly is a great move in the marketing department for Honda.  I wonder if any other promo spots will feature other films?  Can you imagine a Breakfast Club commercial?

Movie Quotes

Cyrus Grissom:
Someone alerted the authorities at Carson city, someone told them about our Lerner rendezvous, someone even killed poor Billy Bedlam. Now, could this all be coincidence? Perhaps. But then someone went and tied a rope to our plane. So, I ask you what is going on? And I answer. We have a traitor in our midst. Now how do we flush a traitor?
[pulls guard Bishop out of her cell and puts his gun to her head]
Cyrus Grissom:
I don't know but at the count of three I will find out who is on my team and who is not. That would be one, two...
Baby O:
[pushes Poe out of the way as Poe was standing up to confess] Wait! It was me. It was me.
Cameron Poe:
Don't listen to him, man. T-The insulin, it made him crazy.
Cyrus Grissom:
You have been near death the entire trip?
Baby O:
Yeah, motherfucker, it was me.
Cameron Poe:
Nah, he's-he's flipped out, man. He's nuts.
Baby O:
That's pretty clever, huh, bitch?
[Cyrus shoots Baby O in the stomach]
Cameron Poe:
Jesus!
Cyrus Grissom:
[shouting] No, that's clever!
