Hey guys, Jana here,

Nikolaj Arcel

Fans of the brilliant writer Stephen King get excited when we see a new film being made based on one of his brilliant tomes. We got creeped out by our dead pets in ‘Pet Sematary‘, our healthy fear of  clowns graduated into a full on psychosis after seeing Pennywise as ‘It‘, groaned in pain when we saw ‘Misery‘ on the big screen, in short, we laughed, we cried, we cringed and we loved every minute of it. One novel that has had trouble making it’s way to the silver screen is King’s western epic better known as the collective work of ‘The Gunslinger‘.

Guess Who’s Playing Cable In ‘Deadpool 2’??

by Red Zeppelbon on Apr 12th, 2017

Hey guys, Jana here,

Cover-Spring Arts (Josh Brolin Sin City 2) 3-9

One of the most desirable roles in comic book movies has finally been cast. The curiosity is at an end. We finally know who will play Cable in ‘Deadpool 2‘, and it’s Josh Brolin. I’ll admit his casting doesn’t sit quite right with me, when I think of Cable, I think of Stephen Lang, but I’m certain Brolin will make the role his own and win over the fan base.

Film Review: ‘Don’t Breathe’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 26th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

Stephen Lang stars in Screen Gems' horror-thriller DON'T BREATHE.

Fede Alvarez burst onto the scene a few years ago with his short film on YouTube called ‘Ataque de Pánico!‘ It was so well received and well done that a few weeks later, Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert were calling him non-stop and even offered the Uruguayan filmmaker the chance to direct the remake of ‘The Evil Dead‘, which came out 2013 to rave reviews and fan appreciation for what it was. Since then, Fede has a few projects in the works coming up, as he is one of the top new filmmakers to watch in the horror genre.

Scream Factory is releasing ‘Manhunter‘ in Collector’s Edition form on May 24th on Blu-ray with a ton of new extras. Do you remember ‘Manhunter’ from 1986? It had a hell of a cast and featured the character Hannibal Lektor for the first time on screen. Yes, even before he rose to superstardom in ‘Silence of the Lambs‘. This film also had a killer soundtrack as well. Below is the press release and all the info you will need on the release. Can’t wait for May 24th.

Blu-Ray Review: ‘The Monkey’s Paw’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 1st, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Monkeys-paw

THE FILM

The Monkey’s Paw‘ is a tale old as time. Back in 1902, author W.W. Jacobs wrote a short story about a family receiving a dried up monkey’s paw where it supposedly granted three wishes. Though each wish was granted, they caused dire consequences for those who used the monkey’s paw. Since 1902, there have been many interpretations and adaptations on Jacobs’s story. Whether it be films, musicals, operas, or even the famous ‘Simpsons‘ episode ‘Treehouse of Horror II‘, this story has been heard or seen by everyone at some point in time.

Hi, Jana here,

another-avatar

I’ve taken a brief hiatus, but I’m back with some big news! We all know that James Cameron likes to make movies that have a universal appeal. That’s basically a nice way of saying he makes money-makers. If something makes Cameron money, he goes back to that well until it’s bone-dry. If he could have come up with a logical way to bring Jack and Rose back together for a ‘Titanic‘ sequel, he’d have done it. History got in the way of that one, though.

Blu-Ray Review: ‘Pawn’

by Gumbercules9000 on May 6th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

514a6YGGy1P

I had a lot of fun with ‘Pawn’. This is one of those instances where you are perusing movies online or at your local video rental place where you come across a film you’ve never heard of, but see tons of A-list actors on the front cover. And when we decide to purchase or rent based only on the cover, we usually have a 50/50 shot of really enjoying the flick. Most of the time, these particular films have a low budget and suffer from a wide range of problems. Sometimes the budget is too small to create a decent story and locations, and other times it’s bad filming. With ‘Pawn’, everything tends to work here and is a fun film that deserved a bigger audience.

Pet Sematary 4K UHD Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 10th, 2019

Pet Sematary‘ comes back to life with a brand new 2160p 4K UHD image with Dolby Vision and looks and sounds excellent. It’s like watching the film all over again. Stephen King’s excellent novel was adapted in 1989 by director Mary Lambert that focuses on the Creed family moving to the country for a better life where loss, death and family all play a gruesome and horrific part. There are new bonus features as well as some vintage extras imported over here. What an amazing release. Highly Recommended!
