Film Review: Churchill!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 2nd, 2017

Audrey E., here…

1200

If you’re expecting a hardy D-day battle of gunfire and malice, you may want to look elsewhere. Ambitious efforts were made to create a heroic biopic and personal portrait of the Prime Minister, but at long last, the result is a cigar-filled melodrama that limps with exaggerated dialogue. Concentrating mostly on diplomacy and tensions between allies, ‘Churchill’ is a strained history lesson that only manages to blow smoke over a fascinating true-life story.

Horror movies are like ants at a picnic, there will always be a few teenagers in the mix. New Line has acquired worldwide rights to the Blumhouse Prods. film ‘Superstition‘. The film is financed by Film 360 the production arm of Management 360. The film is high school-set and is similar to the ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer‘ formula with a found-footage component.

How Cool Is This ‘Halloween’ Blu-ray Collection!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 13th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

 BqBu2OOCAAM-nsZ

Good news, everyone. Anchor Bay Entertainment and Scream Factory have finally partnered up to give us horror fans something we have wanted for far too long. Not one but two different Blu-Ray box sets that spans all of the ‘Halloween‘ films. There will be tons of new bonus features, every film in high-definition, collectible packaging, and a 40-page Booklet. You can expect this amazing set in time for Halloween season, specifically on September 23rd. It’s about time they did this, because Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street already have box sets. Glad to see ‘Halloween‘ is catching up with everyone else. Now if we can just get that ‘Phantasm‘ box set to release in the US instead of the UK, all will be well. And today, they have unveiled the amazing Box Art it comes in. This is Fantastic. I Can’t wait. And you can pre-order the set now for 30% off.

Film Review: ‘Pompeii’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 20th, 2014

Ben K., Here….

I love Pompeii. It’s a fascinating place where the past comes to life; where all one imagines of the Roman Empire is made tangible. It’s amazing to walk through ancient homes surrounded by frescoes, mosaics, restaurants, a bathhouse, a grand theater…and one need only look upward to see the cause of both Pompeii’s destruction and preservation. That vast, once fearsome volcano. Still, it is worth but a glance; the city and her ghosts will forever remain the focus of Pompeii. In his latest film, Paul W.S. Anderson gives us the opposite: a cursory glance at the people and the detailed wrath of top-billed Mount Vesuvius.

BRIDGE – Chapter Seven

by Justin Cline on Dec 7th, 2011

CHAPTER SEVEN

Black turned to gold, which in turn became red, as if he were staring into a very bright light with his eyes tightly shut.  Bridge recognized the progression, had made his peace with it long ago and now allowed it to happen without interference.  There was no point in fighting it.  It was out of his control. Hollywood has a rich tradition of releasing competing movie projects at virtually the same time.  Armageddon squared off against Deep Impact.  Before that, Big duked it out with Vice Versa and roughly 87 other body-swapping comedies, the last of which was kept on a shelf until finally being released earlier this year (The Change-Up).  So it is that two studios have set their sights on updated interpretations of Snow White, currently scheduled to be released with 3 months of each other.
