Scott Pilgrim VS. The World Hits DVD & BLURAY in November

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 20th, 2010

USA Today’s Life section had some cool news on the cover.

Scott Pilgrim VS. The World will hit DVD & BLURAY on November 9th (which is my birthday) and will be loaded (hopefully) with tons of cool extras.

The U.K. release of the film on DVD & BLURAY already has some certified extras which will most likely be on the U.S.A release. Some rumored features include: the trailers and teasers for the film, an audio commentary with all the main actors including Micahel Cera, Jason Schwartzman, Brandon Routh, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Ellen Wong, plus another audio commentary with Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, Kieran Culkin, and Mark Webber.

That’s about it for features for the U.K. release.  The commentaries sound cool, but I would like to the studio and tell them on the bluray they release in the U.S.A. please make it a 3 or 4 Disc release.  Disc 1 containing the high-def film plus extras.  The 2nd disc can be for extras to if there are plenty but I will get to that in a minute.  The 3rd disc can be the DVD version and the 4th can be the digital download so I can watch Scott Pilgrim on a plane or train.

So studio, please give a listen please.  I really do not care nor do I think most people care about going online through the blu ray player and watching the film with others or exclusive online content or bookmarking chapters or creating your favorite scenes.  While all that is cool, it is not what I want as an extra on a bluray.

Please, what I would love for this bluray is an in-depth behind the scenes documentary that spans from the graphic novel creation to the audience recation to the opening of the film and everything in between.

I would also like a commentary by the director Edgar Wright with his pals Simon Pegg and Nick Frost even though they had nothing to do with the movie.  Even if it was a shit movie (which it is not by any means), I would purchase the movie for this alone.  In addition to the commentaries, how about making them video commentaries in the vein of MST3K where you can see the shadows of the people giving the commentary and they can point things out on the screen as they are happening.

I want a featurette featuring all the music of the film and band rehearsal footage.  Also I would love a 10 minute gag reel.

Since this is a geek/video game centric movie, how about interviews with the cast and crew talking about their favorite video games and maybe even footage of a video game tournament involving the cast and crew.

Maybe perhaps some hidden easter eggs of some evil exes that “Didn’t make the Final Cut” of the movie and their lame battle scenes?  Could be great.

Some deleted scenes would be great as well.  Also maybe some of the evil exes introducing the special features or talking at you to press a button on the menus of the disc.

I mean this movie is epic and the dvd release must be equally epic.  I loved this film.

I am very much looking forward to this release here in the U.S.A.

Hi, Bryan Here….

dead-snow-2

I can’t wait for this. I’ve been wanting a sequel to the Nazi Zombie horror/comedy film ‘Dead Snow‘ since I saw the first one back in 2009. Well, my dreams have been answered (well one of my dreams). The sequel ‘Dead Snow 2‘ or ‘Dead Snow: Red Vs. Dead‘ is finally here and it premiered at Sundance. Reviews have been glorious, and I imagine this will completely outdo the original film.

A look at the personal and professional lives of a group of women who perform for a wrestling organization in Los Angeles. The series ought to do pretty well considering it’s linked to Jenji Kohan, creator of some pretty magnificent titles, such as ‘Weeds‘ and another Netflix original ‘Orange is the New Black‘.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Since there just are not enough man-eating plants in my movie collection, I’m ecstatic that Warner Bros. is making a movie musical remake of ‘Little Shop of Horrors‘. The property began as a horror movie from Roger Corman in 1960, then it went on to become a musical, then another movie, it’s had a lot of incarnations, which makes sense because it’s such a genius story!

Hey guys, Jana here,

Edgar Wright, is a man known for some distinct movies that have a massive cult following. If you know who Simon Pegg is chances are you know who Wright is. Why do I say this? Because the two have collaborated on the Cornetto Trilogy consisting of some of the most awesome movies in recent history. ‘Shaun of the Dead‘, ‘Hot Fuzz‘ and ‘The World’s End‘ are those movies and chances are good you can’t attend a Comic-Con anywhere without coming across someone dressed as one of the characters.

Brandon Routh Steps Into Comic Book Pages Again!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jul 8th, 2014

Hi all, Jana here,

Routh-the-Atom-504x360

In the gigantic pantheon superheroes and villains, there are so many awesome characters it’s hard to narrow it down to even a top 5!  It’s like the Lay’s commercial slightly altered, “Bet you can’t like JUST one!” Those of you that follow superheroes are going to either be pleasantly surprised or pissed as hell that Brandon Routh (Yes, from ‘Superman Returns‘) has now joined the cast of the CW‘s superhero drama ‘Arrow‘ as this season’s main recurring guest star. He will play Ray Palmer, a scientist and inventor who will play an unexpected role in the lives of Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak as the new owner of Queen Consolidated. We are told the deal will span 14 episodes, and that he will be a love interest for Felicity.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

A&E has a new series coming out called ‘The Returned‘ and is headed up by ‘Lost‘ show-runner Carlton Cuse. The 10-episode first season has just cast its lead, which is the beautiful and talented Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Winstead is known for playing Ramona Flowers in Edgar Wright’sScott Pilgrim vs. the World‘ film, but could be seen in Quentin Tarantino’sDeath Proof‘ and the recent prequel to ‘The Thing‘. Winstead was sought after by tons of executives and directors this pilot season and it looks like Cuse won out.

Amazon Announces 4 Pilots Green-lit for Series!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Mar 13th, 2014

Hello Jana here,

 dt.common.streams.StreamServer

Amazon jumped head-first into original programming with 5 pilots that were uploaded to their site where they encouraged viewers to watch and comment their opinions. I’m guessing they got the reaction they wanted as they have now picked four of the titles to give a series order. This includes the first dramas for their fledgling, innovative line-up with ‘The After‘ and ‘Bosch‘. Their new comedy series are ‘Mozart In The Jungle‘ and ‘Transparent‘. The fifth pilot that was not picked up, ‘The Rebels‘ comes from Ice Cube and Michael Strahan. From Amazon’s first pilot season saw eight comedies going to pilot while only two were picked up for series, ‘Alpha House‘ and ‘Betas‘. Of those two, ‘Alpha House‘ has been renewed for a second season and ‘Betas‘ has been discontinued.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead To Be ‘Exposed’?

by Red Zeppelbon on Mar 11th, 2014

Hello Jana here,

Mary-Elizabeth-Winstead

If you’re shopping for the cast to be in a pilot of a new series, you can rarely get better than a well-known actor, with a dedicated fan base, to play the lead. This is what director Patty Jenkins was thinking when she courted Mary Elizabeth Winstead for the lead in ABC’s new drama series ‘Exposed‘. Jenkins was the writer and director for the gritty feature ‘Monster‘ that won Charlize Theron a myriad of awards as she portrayed infamous serial killer Aileen Wuornos.

Judd Apatow and Brie Larson Talk ‘Trainwreck’!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Feb 19th, 2014

Jana B. here,

Judd Apatow

Judd Apatow is developing ‘Trainwreck‘. No, I’m not saying I think the film will be a trainwreck.  Apatow has found his niche in the film world much in the same way Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith have their cemented fans. A few of the trademarks for an Apatow film are finding the same 10-12 actors appearing in almost each one, and while they are brilliant comedies, they’re realistic and a bit longer than the average 90 minute comedy. So far the only thing that’s been released about ‘Trainwreck‘, is that he’s directing and we’re beginning to see the cast fill out.

Jana B. Here,

Sundance 2014

There are some names that you instantly recognize if you’re a student of film, or just obsessed with it, like me. Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, Steven Soderbergh are just a few. What do these names have in common? Sundance. Filmmakers converge on the famous Indie film festival in Park City, Utah, for the chance to move from someone making movies with your buddies to being paid to employ some of the best actors in the industry. Dreams come true and some leave in deafeat, yeah that was way too schmaltzy. From January 16-26 the world of entertainment turns its discerning and collective eye to more than 120 feature length submissions.

Blu-Ray Review: ‘Wreck It Ralph’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 5th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

71ftUaLkCGL._AA1015_

Wreck-It Ralph‘ is one hell of a fun and entertaining movie. Not only will the little kids enjoy this, but adults will eat this up too.  Disney has done a a great job with their 3D animated comedy to start the holiday season.  The amazing voice cast, the video game references, the characters and storyline can all compete with the likes of any Pixar film.  Well, I guess you can get a phenomenal film when you have John Lasseter executive produce and Rich Moore direct.  Moore has directed tons of episodes of ‘The Simpsons’ and just about every episode of ‘Futurama’, so you know this will be a funny and intelligent film done right.

Short Round:

Indiana Jones:
It's not fortune cookies. Let me take a look.
[Indy gets a match out of his pocket. He snaps it with his thumb and the match flares. They freeze as the light illuminates a grisly scene: The floor and walls of the narrow tunnel are an undulating mass of millions of enormous bugs. A scorpion crawls on Short Round's leg.]
