Hey guys, Jana here,

Larry David, Greg Mottola

In lieu of making a horribly obvious ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm‘ joke, I’ll jump right into the story. Larry David, the master of deadpan comedy will be hosting the pinnacle of funny, ‘Saturday Night Live‘.

Saturday Night Live‘ has spawned so many careers it’s hard to count, it’s always been a staple of TV for me and on February 15, it celebrates it’s 40th anniversary.

Hello Jana here,

Louis C.K.

Louis C.K. is jumping back into ‘Saturday Night Live‘ as host of the March 29 episode. The comedian wrote for the late-night sketch show’s Saturday’s TV Funhouse segment from 2002-2004. He has a host of comedy specials to his name and a show on FX, ‘Louie‘. In November 2012, he hosted and memorably played President Abraham Lincoln in the style of ‘Louie’. Most recently, he had a part in ‘Parks and Recreation‘ and was last seen in the Oscar-nominated ‘American Hustle‘.

Jana B., Here….

 sasheer-zamata-michelle-obama

Big news from Saturday Night Live. Sasheer Zamata is the newest regular cast member to be signed to the NBC comedy staple. There are six new comedians being added this year. Instead of focusing on Zamata’s laughable qualities, the focus is on her sex and race. There has been massive criticism that the new batch of SNL cast members lacks not only minorities, but specifically the inclusion of Zamata, who is African American.  Lorne Michaels has been looking into black female comedians for some time now. Kerry Washington’s guest hosting episode saw her run ragged running from skit to skit playing a number of roles from Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey and Beyonce. Of the six new comedians coming on board this season all are white but Noel Wells who is Hispanic-Tunisian. There are only 2 African-Americans already anchored in their positions on the late night sketch show.

Hey guys, Jana here,

rough-night-3

Director Lucia Aniello (‘The Traveling Bong‘, ‘Broad City‘) lights up the big screen with Scarlett Johansson (‘The Avengers‘), Kate McKinnon (‘Saturday Night Live‘) and Zoë Kravitz (‘Mad Max: Fury Road‘) in a Hangover-ish flick about a bachelorette weekend. Well, a bachelorette party gone wrong since a male stripper ends up dead at a Miami beach house.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Amy-Tina-467

I know I’m in the minority with my opinion on Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s hosting gig on the Golden Globes. It’s over, been done, trite, stale, hackneyed, vapid, unoriginal, hack and incredibly cliched. I wasn’t a faithful ‘Saturday Night Live‘ viewer when they were starring and every year they host an awards show, I remember why. I’m not saying there isn’t value to the pair’s comedic talents, they shine in movies and I think that’s where they should be.

‘Fletch Lives’ On!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Mar 11th, 2014

Hello Jana here,

Fletch

If you’re like me, when you hear the name ‘Fletch‘, you automatically picture the journalist played by Chevy Chase. I think you can see where this one is going. Yes, ‘Fletch‘ is being rolled over with the re-make wheel. I appreciate that it’s been in the works for a very long time. At least since the late 90’s when Kevin Smith was attached to direct. Smith made a valiant effort to give things a re-boot with a son-of-Fletch-story line that would have portrayed Chase turning the reigns over to his son. There were names from Brad Pitt-to-Dave Chappelle-to Ellen Degeneres in the running for the title role. Eventually Smith dropped out to work on his own original work.

Misty S. Delivers Her Thoughts On ‘Grown Ups 2’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 11th, 2013

Misty S., Here….

grown-ups-2-1

Adam Sandler, the founder of Happy Madison films, has used the same formula for every movie that he has ever done. He took some of his unknown buddies that have all started in his first movie “Billy Madison” and every movie since, combined with his ‘Saturday Night Live‘ buddies and throws in some big guest appearances for added entertainment to create a comedic movie that all will love and flock to go see in the theaters. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t. This time, though, it did better than I expected it to. ‘Grown Ups 2‘, the obvious sequel to ‘Grown Ups‘, came and delivered, even with all the press and hype to it. This movie is not really a sequel since it can be watched without seeing the first one, but when one does not know what to call a “sequel”, just add a #2 to it. Adam Sandler, David Spade, Chris Rock and Kevin James have the chemistry and natural banter, like they had in the first one, that makes the movie ebb and flow without hardly any slow or unfunny scenes to sit through. There are, however, the same jokes that you see in all of the Happy Madison films and even on ‘Saturday Night Live‘. This is the type of film that when you walk into it, you are already knowledgeable of what is going to happen.

Film Review: ‘Never Goin’ Back’!!

by Janet White on Aug 10th, 2018

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

A friend is there through thick and thin. Right there, to draw a penis on your face while you are fast asleep. That is the opening scene of the hilarious adventures of Angela (Maia Mitchell) and Jessie (Camila Morrone) two young waitresses trying to make a way. Never Goin’ Back is based on the true story of its creator and director, Augustine Frizzell. I had the privilege of interviewing Frizzell (more on that awesome experience later), but first here are some reasons to watch this arduous girl power film. Angela and Jessie are high school dropouts that share a house with Jessie’s special in the head brother, Dustin (Joel Allen). On the eve of Jessie’s 17th birthday, Angela comes up with the perfect gift for her dearest friend. The gift sets into motion a trail of calamitous events, drugs, innuendos, and literally a holy crap moment.

‘Brigsby Bear’ is coming to Blu-ray!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 8th, 2017

Brigsby Bear‘ is coming to Blu-ray and Digital Streaming on November 14th from Sony Pictures. You might have missed ‘Brigsby Bear‘ in the theaters, but it’s one you shouldn’t miss at home. The film is written by Kyle Mooney and directed by Dave McCary, who both still work at ‘SNL‘. The film stars Mooney, Claire Danes, Mark Hamill, Greg Kinnear, and Matt Walsh  and is a mix of comedy and emotions about a young man, setting out to make a movie. There’s so much more to it than that, but I don’t want to give anything away. Bonus features will include deleted scenes, a commentary track, deleted scenes, and more. More below.

‘The Angry Birds Movie’ Sequel Is A Go At Rovio!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 25th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

MV5BMTY3MjU0NDA0OF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwNTc0MTU3OTE@._V1_SY1000_CR0,0,702,1000_AL_

The Angry Birds Movie‘ made such a giant splash for Rovio Entertainment Ltd. that a sequel has been announced. This one is kind of a “Duh!” move, but I’m glad it’s officially in the works. I think I probably enjoyed the movie more than my kids did, but it was something we kept talking about for a few days after. Read the rest of this entry »
