The Ryan Gosling Jacket Investigation!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 13th, 2017

Written By: Dan Moran….

There have been tweets and style articles written about Ryan Gosling’s jackets over the past year, but after seeing Blade Runner 2049 last night, are we sure he’s ever read a script? Would it really be so ridiculous to assume that almost every role that Ryan Gosling has ever played was based on his agent just laying two jackets out and Ryan deciding which one was better? More importantly, is Ryan Gosling even a good actor? Are we sure his jackets aren’t giving him this power?

An investigation has been opened.

Top 10 Ryan Gosling Scenes in Movies!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 17th, 2017

Audrey E., here….

Screen Shot 2017-03-17 at 9.59.40 AM

Ryan Gosling is a true patron for the arts. Proof of this can not only be found in his selective partaking in films with telling characters, but also in his accomplished side projects. There’s his under-appreciated dark wave and gothic indie band, Dead Man’s Bones, and we can’t forget his courageous 2014 directorial debut in the fantasy drama, Lost River. He’s come a long way from his humble beginnings as a Mouseketeer on The All New Mickey Mouse Club, and despite the pressure from Hollywood to keep up appearances, Ryan concentrates on staying true to himself and what matters most: his art. Today I’ve put together a list of my Top 10 favorite Ryan Gosling performances in film and why this talented Canadian, a true 21st century James Dean, is more than meets the eye.

Russell Crowe-Ryan Gosling Pic Secures Release Date!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Sep 2nd, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

ryan_russell__span

Warner Bros and Shane Black have teamed up again, this time for a detective thriller starring the ever-so-gorgeous Russell Crowe and the guy most women swoon for, Ryan Gosling. Warners have taken the date of June 17, 2016 as their release date for ‘The Nice Guys. In another fantastic turn of events for the film besides pairing the two co-stars up is that Shane Black co-wrote the script. Black and Warner Bros is not the only reunion taking place in this film, Joel Silver is coming on board as a producer like he was with Black’s ‘Lethal Weapon‘. The film was officially picked up in July and plans to start production are this fall.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Ryan Gosling is finally taking that step behind the camera with his first film he will be directing.  That film will be called ‘How To Catch a Monster’, which will be shopped around at the Toronto Film Festival.  Christina Hendricks is attached to star in the film.  Not only will Gosling direct, but he also wrote the script.

Hi Bryan Here…

For years and years now, this film, Logan’s Run, has been tried and tried again to be remade but has failed on all levels.  Logan’s run celebrated its 30 anniversary back in 2006.  So far the film has an excellent actor in Ryan Gosling playing the role of Logan, and one hell of a director and writer.

Bryan’s Top 10 Films of 2011!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 29th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here…

We’re here at that time again.  The end of the year.  And thus, here is my list of my top 10 movies of 2011.  Now these are films I saw in the theatre or at home that came out in the year 2011.  I have seen several films already that won’t come out until 2012, but those will have to wait till next year at this time.  There were tons of great films that came out this year.  It was a hard year to narrow down.  I usually pick my top 10, by going through the entire list of releases throughout the entire year and then writing all the ones  really liked down.  Then the narrowing process begins.  Now my Top 10 list will probably be way different then most others you will see.  I tend to chose films for my list that I thoroughly enjoy time and time again rather than ones that might win awards at the big shows.  Without further delay here is my Top 10 films for 2011.

Bryan Reviews ‘The Ides of March’!!! (A Movie Review)

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 7th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

‘Ides of March’ is one magnificent political drama.  George Clooney directs an all-star cast in this film based on the play ‘Farragut North’ by Beau Willimon.  Clooney also co-wrote the screenplay as well as starred in the film alongside Ryan Gosling, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Evan Rachel Wood, and Marisa Tomei.  This film is perfectly crafted and just left a very unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach, but in a good way.  The dialogue is some of the best of the year and the acting has gold stars all around.  I wonder if Willimon and Clooney got ideas for this story from real life events.  If that is so, then HOLY SHIT.  That is hardcore.  ‘Ides of March’ might be the best political drama in the past decade.  A must see.  And perfect timing with the upcoming election.  Go see this film.  I loved every single insane and disturbing bit of it.

Bryan Takes One Hell Of A ‘Drive’!!! (A Movie Review)

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 6th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

‘Drive’ surprised the hell out of me.  I really didn’t know much about the film before I watched it other than the title and that it starred Ryan Gosling.  While I was watching the movie there were tons of times where I said “Holy Shit!” or I said “Fuuuck” or I said “Hoooly Fuckin’ Moses”!  I had no idea that ‘Drive’ was not only hardcore on every single level, but the character development and story line was some of the best I have seen all year.  ‘Drive’ is an insane thrill ride with a heart of gold.  I loved every psychotic moment of this film.  And I think you will to if you have the stomach for it.

Tis the season to be thankful for many things. Family, friends, food, jobs, and Bruce Campbell. It’s Thanksgiving time and we here at Boomstick Comics just love movies. We love everything about them. Even the bad ones. While you’re eating those delicious bites of Turkey, watching ‘Charlie Brown Thanksgiving‘ or the Dallas Cowboys Game, we want to share with you some movies that we are thankful for. These movies have touched us in some way and have helped shaped our creative lives. Maybe this list will inspire you to make your own list and share it with us. Film Review #2: ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (2017)!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 14th, 2017

Dan M., here….

landscape-1478512906-beauty-and-the-beast-movie

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (1991) is in the top 2 Disney animated movies of all-time. I’ll only allow The Lion King, which has a live action version due in 2019 or 2020, to be ranked ahead of it. This isn’t a debate. These are facts. Beauty and the Beast (animated) is a masterpiece from songs to characters, which is why I loved that this new live-action movie stayed so true to the animated version. It was an extremely enjoyable two hours with some really great moments and I look forward to seeing it again.

Some people love his films. Some hate his films. No matter which side of the spectrum you’re on, you have to agree that every one of Terrence Malick’s films look exquisitely beautiful. With movies like ‘Tree of Life‘, ‘Knight of Cups‘, ‘The Thin Red Line‘, ‘Badlands‘, and ‘Days of Heaven‘, you can’t help but become entranced in the story, characters, and visual spectacle of Malick’s filmmaking process. His past few films have mostly shown a variety of characters who rarely say anything on screen, but instead narrate the movie as it goes along, giving a better visual masterpiece of cinema than a dialogue driven movie.

Favorite Films of 2016!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 30th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

blake-lively-and-the-shark-the-shallows-39717776-1000-544

The end of 2016 is here, which means everyone’s Top 10 list is out already or getting ready to be released. I’m not going to do a Top 10 in order again this year, because there are just so many amazing films I feel so passionate about, that it is difficult to rank them. If you think this is a weak year of films, then you are surely mistaken. I will say that most of the big budget blockbusters this year were duds, but the indie films were nothing short of amazing. So below is the list of films that I truly loved this year. These films will be ones that I watch over and over again, and you should to. I watched 254 films that were released this year (Yes, I counted) and survived to tell the tale. As always, please let me know if any of your favorite films made my list. Enjoy!

You can CLICK the titles of each movie where you can purchase the Blu-rays too. Hooray!

Dave Bautista Signs Onto ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Apr 4th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

Dave Bautista has made a name for himself in a few galaxies. One of them being the WWE Universe where he kicked ass all over the place, while another one being the film ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ where he played Drax. Where ever you know him from, one thing is certain, the man has a palpable presence on-screen. Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

We all remember the horrible times from 2007-2010 with all that went on with the housing crises and stock market crash. Tons of people lost their homes, went broke, lost their jobs, and even committed suicide. This was all due to the major banks and loan officers, giving people bad loans no matter what their income situation was. After a little while, everyone started to default on their home loans and all of the banks failed, which forced the hardworking middle class people to bail them out with our own money.

We had the distinct honor to talk with the amazing director Nicolas Winding Refn and his wife Liv Corfixen in Austin, Tx at Fantastic Fest 2014. Refn is one of the advocates for the horror and crime genre and in addition to his great films, he can be seen on several bonus features of other Blu-rays talking about films. Refn directed ‘Valhalla Rising‘, ‘Bronson‘, and the recent films that starred Ryan Gosling which were ‘Drive‘ and ‘Only God Forgives‘. His new film, which was directed by his wife Liv is called ‘My Life‘ and chronicled the production of ‘Only God Forgives‘. It’s a great documentary. He is mostly known for making the hit film ‘Drive‘ with Ryan Gosling, but has also made ‘Valhalla Rising‘, ‘Bronson‘, and the recent ‘Only God Forgives‘, which also s tarred Gosling. Refn is also a big advocate for the cult horror film genre. He can be seen on numerous Blu-ray extras, discussing his love for that particular brand of cinema. Hey guys, it’s Jana.

Gosling Crowe

Let’s play a little game called ‘A few of my favorite things’. That’s right – YOU get a car! You get a car and yes, YOU GET A CAR! OK, so not quite like that. You don’t have to worry about my stating anything  about “Raindrops on Roses”.  My list begins with Burt Reynolds’ laugh, Comic BooksBeethoven – Preferably Piano Sonata No. 8 ‘Pathetique’ in C minor, all 3 movements, Good music. Not just ‘eh’ kind of music, but GREAT music, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Harry Connick, Jr.,  and the amazing Shane Black’s movies.

Added into that list is cute boys that can sing. Russell Crowe happens to fit that bill. I’ve no idea if Ryan Gosling can sing or not, but he is fun to look at. Crowe and Gosling have signed on board for a police drama ‘The Nice Guys‘ with ‘Iron Man 3‘ director Shane Black putting his vision to film.

Film Review: ‘Only God Forgives’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 17th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

Only-God-Forgives-Red-Band-Trailer-You-Wanna-Fight

I’ll be the first to admit that Nicolas Winding Refn’s movie ‘Drive‘, starring Ryan Gosling was one of my favorite films of that year. It was original, fresh, had a killer soundtrack, and had a wonderful and colorful cast of characters. I own the Blu-ray, soundtrack, and even stickers from the movie. Needless to say, when I heard that Refn was making another film in the same vein called ‘Only God Forgives‘, I was excited with pure joy and couldn’t wait to see it. Not only was it going to star Ryan Gosling and amp up the violence and suspenseful situations to eleven, but it was going to take place in Thailand and pack enough blood for two films. Man, was I dead-wrong about this film and sorely disappointed.

Film Review: ‘The Place Beyond the Pines’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 27th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

url-1

Director Derek Cianfrance is one of the better filmmakers today. Even this being his third feature film, he has consistently shown that he has what it takes to make a powerful and character driven film each time so far.  ‘The Place Beyond the Pines‘ is an intense look at the effects of certain actions passed on from father to son over the course of 15 years, and while this story packs a punch, it also fails to be told in the smoothest way as each act of the film is a different time with a different lead that changes direction too suddenly to keep a lucid flow.  However, this indie film might garner enough attention and box office success from its cast, which consists of Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper.

Film Review: ‘Gangster Squad’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 10th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

gangster-squad_2012-en-2-1280x851

Gangster Squad‘ lacks depth, character, and mild storytelling, but with its amazing cast of actors, over-the-top violence, and cartoony vibe, I left the theater highly entertained.  Instead of playing out like a true noir gangster film from the 40s, director Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) has gone the route of making this gangster film like and R rated ‘Dick Tracy‘ mixed with a Saturday morning cartoon, which isn’t necessarily bad, but instead of getting story and character, we get blood and guts.

Check Out the Trailer for ‘Gangster Squad’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 11th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

‘Gangster Squad’ takes place in Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and-if he has his way-every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. “The Gangster Squad” is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.  This is the 2nd trailer for the film.  It looks good.

Hi Bryan Here…..

The 84th annual Academy Award nominations are in.  There are a couple of surprises that I was very happy to see on here and tons of disappointment.  It looks like the Academy went with 9 Best Picture noms this year rather than 10.  They also only went with 3 noms for make up which I can think of others, and only two for original song.  Was this a time issue, so that the event would be over on time for once rather than have all 5 songs being sung?  I don’t like it, but that’s how it is this year.  Below you will see each category with my thoughts.  Enjoy.
