Robin Williams 1951-2014!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 11th, 2014

Jana here,

Robin Williams-AES-050543

This is a truly sad day. Robin Williams was found dead of an apparent suicide today. Williams was found dead in his Northern California home. The actor had been battling some pretty heavy depression lately and Williams had struggled with addiction earlier on in his career, but recently went to rehab to help maintain his sobriety, his rep said at the time. The rehab stint would have gone unnoticed, expect that the comedian opted to pose with a fan for a photo at a Dairy Queen near the facility, and the picture eventually went viral.

Robin Williams Might Be Headed Back To Television!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 31st, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Robin Williams is itching to get back to the small screen.  It’s been almost 30 years since ‘Mork and Mindy’, and now the comedian/actor might just be teaming up with David E. Kelley in a new untitled show that is set in the world of advertising.  Williams would be a successful ad executive working alongside is daughter.

Hey guys, Jana here,

TedWilliams (1)

It’s getting on into the summer months and it’s been a great one, so far. It has not been that great for my beloved Boston Red Sox though. Right now, we’re last in the AL standings. It’s shameful, really. New York is ahead of us, heck ALL of the AL is ahead of us. I’m not panicking though. The Sox are a rally team, they are intrepid, they WILL see October play time, I just KNOW it!

Those of us that got upset about a continuation of Robin Williams’s remarkably funny film with heart, ‘Jumanji‘, can rest easy. The first trailer for ‘Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle‘ has been released and it looks like the filmmakers treated the story right. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black, the adventure comes alive this Christmas.

‘Jumanji 2’ Casts Karen Gillan In Clutch Role!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 31st, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

Jumanji

Sony’s sequel to 1995’s ‘Jumanji‘ just cast the clutch character, Martha, with ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ and ‘Doctor Who‘ alum Karen Gillan. Director Jake Kasdan (‘Bad Teacher‘) went through an extensive search that included many A-list names before deciding on Gillan.

Gene Wilder June 11, 1933 – August 29, 2016

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 29th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

gene-wilder-blazingsaddles-5

Gene Wilder passed away today at the age of 83. He is one of my favorite actors and he elicits a smile from me when I just see his picture. He is neck and neck with Robin Williams for being my favorite comedic actor and his death rocks the film community where he made some of his most lasting contributions.

Film Review: ‘The Purge: Election Year’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 29th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

the-purge-3-trailer-still

Are you ready to cleanse your sins away and ‘Purge’ once again? Well, the movie industry certainly is with ‘The Purge: Election Year‘. Funny, it is an election year in the real world and with Donald Trump on the card, an actual ‘Purge’ might just happen. You might laugh at that notion and I do too, but it’s more plausible than ever before. Writer/director of all ‘The Purge‘ movies, James DeMonaco, actually got his start as the writer of the Robin Williams‘ film ‘JACK‘, which if you look at it closely, they are all practically the same movie. Of course, I’m kidding.

Jumanji Remake Has Found It’s Director!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 15th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

jumanji1

We’ve known for a while that one of the late Robin Williams’ movies is being remade, now there’s serious movement on the horizon for ‘Jumanj‘. Sony has signed Jake Kasdan to direct the re-imagining. Kasdan comes from comedy roots with writer/director credits from both TV and film including a handful of episodes of ‘Freaks and Geeks‘, ‘Bad Teacher‘ and ‘Sex Tape‘.

Why I Love Movies!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 31st, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

PicMonkey Collage

When someone in the entertainment industry dies, especially suddenly, everyone reacts differently to the news. Some people just regard it as a bit of news for the day and go on entirely unphased. Then there’s another response some can have, it’s a personal, visceral one, at that. I fall into the latter category.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Disney has found another story they are mining for live-action and it’s not exactly a remake of one of their established animated classics. It’s a prequel to the 1992 smash-success ‘Aladdin‘ titled ‘Genies‘. While the project has a producer and writers, there is no director attached to the undertaking at the moment.

Lauren Bacall 1924-2014!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 13th, 2014

Hi all, Jana here,

Lauren-Bacall-001

Sadly, I’m bringing you another bit of sad news tonight. While the world is still reeling from the loss of Robin Williams, we’ve unfortunately lost another star that adds to the pantheon of Hollywood Royalty that will be shining down on us from above. Lauren Bacall took her leave today at the age of 89.

Bacall shot to stardom during Hollywood’s golden age, with all the sexuality a hundred women possess in only her little finger, she was not accidentally given success, but was one of the most beautiful and glamorous women to prove she had the right to grace the silver screen.  It only took the slightest sound to escape her lips that rendered men powerless. Men wanted her and women wanted to be her. Her first film was the 1944 effort based on an Ernest Hemingway novel, ‘To Have and Have Not’. While this film not only launched her career, but it also paired her with the dashing and always debonair Humphrey Bogart. While  the reasons this was no chance encounter but a divine meeting will soon become clear to all after the siren and the hard-edged cynic with a nobility streak take their working relationship to the next level and end up with rice in their hair when the two thespians became legally wed on May 21, 1945 and lasted until Bogie’s death in  1957. She married one more time in her life to Jason Robards lasting only 8 years and ended in divorce.

The ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ Sequel Is Back On The Table!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 17th, 2014

Hi, Bryan Here….

mrs-doubtfire-1993--11

Back in 1993, director Chris Columbus and actor Robin Williams struck gold by dressing in drag with ‘Mrs. Doubtfire‘, which since them has become an iconic comedy movie. The film back then was made for only $25 million, but it grossed almost $450 million. Shortly after the huge success of the movie, a sequel was put into development. That sequel never gained steam, even after twenty years. But now that has all changed.

Jana B. Here,

The_Boston_Strangler_Casey_Affleck_41024

Some people are fascinated by a moving film featuring struggling artists, sports stars, or the tragic events of the nuclear family. Some of us are enthralled by the twisted path of a demented and morally bankrupt serial killer. I fall into both categories, but I am really fascinated by serial killers. In fact, I wanted to be a serial killer tracker for the FBI at one point. Clearly, I was influenced by James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels. I did NOT like the movies based on his works, though. I did like Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross, but I digress.

Cate Blanchett Might Turn Evil for ‘Cinderella’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 28th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Since there has been two live action ‘Snow White’ films over the past year, it only seems fitting that Disney is looking to revamp all of their animated classic titles into the live action realm.  Next up seems to be ‘Cinderella’, and let’s hope they are better than the ‘Snow White’ versions.  Actress Cate Blanchett looks to be joining the project as Lady Tremaine, the wicked stepmother.

Hi Bryan Here…

Twenty five years later, ‘Good Morning Vietnam’ still holds up as one  the best films about Vietnam and most certainly one of the top Robin Williams films of all time.  I can’t believe it has been twenty five years.  I actually remember seeing this in theatre with my parents and just loving Robin Williams’ based on real life person Adrian Cronauer.  Over the next couple of years I memorized all of Cronauer’s radio monologues and performed them in front of people at a young age.  I can still recite them to this day.  Needless to say, ‘Good Morning Vietnam’  holds a special place in my heart.  And this 25th anniversary bluray is a hit.  Some great extras, and great HD presentations in video and audio.  This is definitely worth picking up.
