Hey guys, Jana here,

slide_1_image

New music releases from now defunct bands or artists that have passed on isn’t really a new thing. We’ve seen enough posthumous releases that nothing should really shock us anymore, right? Every now and them a producer comes up with a mind-blowing vision to have current artists cover titles from an artist’s catalog to give it a face lift while still keeping a little something of the original artist. Covers are a hard tightrope to walk, you know? Either there’s no way in hell you can live up to the original hype or the new version sounds so good you make everyone feel guilty for liking it more than the former.

Scream Queens‘ was absolutely brilliant in it’s primary season, last year. My daughter and I tuned in for every episode and we laughed and gasped together. Season two is being assembled and there’s a new hottie that’s going to join the anthological series and it’s Taylor Lautner!

I picked up ‘Queen of The Trailer Park‘ by the French author, Alice Quinn, I read the English version which was translated by Alexandra Maldwyn-Davies. Quinn is not new to the book publication game and has a few novels to her credit before this one, they haven’t been translated to English as of yet.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Ryan Murphy has made one hell of a name for himself in the history of successful television shows with writing and creating credits from ‘Nip/Tuck‘, ‘Glee‘ and the several incarnations of ‘American Horror Story‘. All things considered, Murphy knows how to scare the crap out of us, or make us want to randomly break out in song and dance in the cafeteria, which for some of us, would be more scary than an episode of AHS.

Hey guys, Jana here..

scream-queens-fox

The brains behind ‘American Horror Story‘, ‘Nip/Tuck‘ and ‘Glee‘ has struck again! Fox is the host network for Ryan Murphy’s musical atrocity, ‘Glee‘, now that the Rachel Berry gag-fest has it’s series ending in sight, around May of 2015, the network is wanting to replace the high-school sing-along with more Murphy. Director/Producer/Writer/Creator Murphy can command just about anything he wants on the small screen. FX has already extended the life of their powerhouse supernatural thriller anthology ‘American Horror Story‘ as we reported here. In addition to the horror serial, FX has greenlighted a new collection from Murphy, ‘American Crime Story‘, read the details here .

Bryan Reviews ‘Queens of Country’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 19th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

It is hard to think of a comparison for the movie ‘Queens of Country’ because, quite honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it.  Directors Ryan Page and Christopher Pomerenke may have just created the first of a new film genre, seamlessly weaving comedy, angst, campiness, desperation, musical numbers, and line dancing. It is rare to find a film that is so original and oddly amazing that it succeeds on all levels.  ‘Queens of Country’ breaks the rules of film and takes you on a hilarious journey of love, confusion, and music.

Hi Bryan Here…..

Here is the 40 minute interview with actor Michael Fassbender (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS/300/INGLORIOUS BASTERDS) an director Steve McQueen (Hunger) on their new film ‘Shame’.  This film was fantastic.  I really hope to see this film nominated at award season time.  It deserves it.  These two gentlemen are class acts and give an in depth interview on the serious topic of the film and what went in to making this fine piece of cinema.  Enjoy.

Pitt Teams Up with McQueen and Fassbender!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 1st, 2011

For a while now, Steve McQueen (Shame) and Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class) have been making movies together. From 2008’s Hunger, which is now in the Criterion Collection, to the NC-17 rated Shame, they’ve been garnering quite a bit of critical acclaim from the film world. Now, their new project has drawn in another big name: Brad Pitt. He’s another one that if I need to tell you what he’s been in, you need to watch more movies. Or get out from under your rock. Though I’m sure it’s a nice rock.

On a cool and slightly humid evening at Dallas’ historic Kessler Theatre in North Oak Cliff, music fans of all types crammed into the intimate venue like sardines to see Wanda Jackson, the proclaimed ‘Queen of Rockabilly’ give it all she literally had.

The show, which was expected to begin with her set around 9:00pm, didn’t start until well after 10:30pm, due to a recent case of mild laryngitis the legendary singer had  been battling. Most fans were certainly eager for the show to begin, however the crowd appeared to be quite patient and understanding with Jackson as she made her way through her setlist, something I haven’t seen much in Dallas concert-going crowds these last few years.

4K UHD Review: ‘Cars 3’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 8th, 2017

THE FILM

This film review portion was written by Jodi York.

I wasn’t sure how well a midlife crisis plot line was going to play with my 10 & 12 year old viewing companions, but they both gave Cars 3 the thumbs up!  Surprisingly, Harrison said that he really enjoyed that this was a ‘comeback story.’

There were a number of new characters introduced in this film.  Jaquelin, who has a need for speed, said she liked the way the new, high tech racers looked; but what we all relished the most was the scenes with the ‘old timer’ racing cars, which Lightning McQueen sought out to try and get his racing mojo back after a big crash.  There were numerous flashbacks with Doc Hudson (McQueen’s late mentor), and this was a big hit with us.  We all appreciated McQueen’s journey into Doc’s past, reviewing Doc’s career; meeting and training with his mentor, Smokey; and learning that Doc’s greatest pride & joy came not from racing himself, but from training McQueen.

It will be the year 2018 in a couple short months, which bring in the New Year with tons of optimism, new slates, blossoming relationships, low-carb diets, and tons of new, exciting movies. Speaking of movies, Criterion has unveiled the first films they will release for 2018, starting in January, which looks like it’s gonna be BADASS! I mean, are we really getting ‘The Breakfast Club’ on Criterion? YES, yes we are. Does that mean we will get more John Hughes’ films in the future? Let’s hope so. Below you can read about each release.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Bohemian Rhapsody may be something that we connect with ‘Wayne’s Wold‘, and for good reason, but Mike Myers is not content to leave it at that. The jokester is courting director Bryan Singer and negotiating for a role in a film about the greatest of the great, Queen.
