Hey guys, Jana here,

powerrangers-elizabethbanks-ritarepulsa-700x874Every few years we get a reboot of ‘Power Rangers‘, there are some people that are thrilled about this and can’t wait to see it. My kids burned me out on ‘Power Rangers‘ – bad. But, my personal feelings aside, I was interested in the finished product when I heard Elizabeth Banks had joined the ranks of the cast. I mean, she’s A-list and she’s doing this? Definitely has me intrigued, and today, I give you the first image of Banks in full costume as villain, Rita Repulsa.

‘Power Rangers’ Reboot Coming In 2016!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 13th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

mighty-morphin-power-rangers-power-rangers-movie-everything-you-know-so-far

Kids become infatuated with shows and films that parents, most of the time, wish they hadn’t introduced their kids to in the first place. What begins as a small escape from the incessant need to be entertained, soon turns into an obsession that takes over every facet of their waking time. Remind anyone else of ‘Frozen‘? Before Anna and Elsa took kids by storm was another adventure-filled show. ‘The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ was one of those shows I could never get into. I had no desire to do so when I was younger and when my kids discovered them through Netflix, I began to cringe at the thought of being in the same room with them as they binge-watched their newest obsession. Looks like their interest in the Power Rangers is going to go into high gear again with the latest news release.

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Jack, who recently suffered the loss of his sister and even attempted to commit suicide, has no trust within or without. Hello, Jana here,

bryan-cranston-as-walter-white

Bryan Cranston is one of Hollywood’s greatest talents right now. We loved the goofy Hal on 6 seasons of ‘Malcolm in the Middle‘, and he was the man we loved to hate as he played Walter White on ‘Breaking Bad‘, which ran for 5 seasons and aired it’s final episode in 2013. The celebrated actor has a well that runs much deeper than just a few acting gigs. He is going to tap into that depth to write his memoir that will be published by Scribner and hopefully available in 2015.

The big summer blockbuster is almost here. I’m not talking about Thanos trying to destroy the galaxy either. I’m talking about WWE’s 31st annual SummerSlam PPV of entertainment and pro-wrestling, which is set to take place on August 19th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn New York and can be watched live in HD on the WWE Network for $9.99 a month or for free if you’re a new subscriber. Over the next few days, our writer Angi and I will be conjuring up some entertaining pieces about each match at SummerSlam 2018. We’ll cover each WWE Superstar, the background of the match, the odds of winning, and what to look out for in each match.

Blu-ray Review: The Incident!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 5th, 2018

THE FILM

I’m sure most of you haven’t heard of a little film called ‘The Incident‘, which isn’t exactly a great title, but is one hell of a ride from start to finish. Released back in 1967, I’m sure this film did to subway passengers as ‘JAWS‘ did to swimmers in any body of water, which was scare the hell out of them. ‘The Incident‘ follows a group of strangers on a late night subway car, who are all headed to their destinations, but are all terrorized by a couple of criminals over the course of the film.

4K UHD Review: ‘Hell or High Water’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 19th, 2018

THE FILM

(The film portion was written by Liz Tramer)

Director David Mackenzie’s latest film, Hell or High Water, is a perfect example of how slow and steady wins the race.  The film is a little slow to start, but once it gets going, it’s fantastic. The story centers around two brothers, Toby  Howard (Chris Pine) and Tanner Howard (Ben Foster) who are desperately trying to save their mother’s farm and keep it in the family. The brothers are literally under the gun to find the money and decide the quickest way to make the deadline is to rob banks. Toby is intelligent, calm, cool and collected and the brains behind the operation. Tanner is an ex con hothead who relishes the crime spree and does little to control either his rage or his inclination toward violence.

Film Review: ‘The Dark Below’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 11th, 2017

Audrey E., here….

the-dark-below-european-poster-horror

Director Douglas Schulze is no stranger to the independent horror genre with films including, Mimesis and Dark Fields, but now, he dives into his next project ‘The Dark Below.’ The film springs right into action where we find Rachel (Lauren Shafer) struggling to break free from the grip of a serial killer Ben (David G.B. Brown). We don’t know exactly why or how this situation has arisen, but as the movie unfolds, you begin to understand this is no random victim, and that these individuals are no strangers to each other either.

Hello, Jana here,

jay-roach-premiere-the-campaign-02

If you’re looking for a successful name in the industry, look no further than Jay Roach. He began his directing career in 1990 and has been a top name for comedy since then. He is the man responsible for the three ‘Austin Powers‘ films, ‘Meet the Parents‘ and my favorite, ‘Meet the Fockers‘. In 2008 Roach began a working relationship with HBO with the movie ‘Recount‘, the film got into the details of the aftermath of the 2000 U.S. presidential election between Al Gore and George W. Bush, which led to Roach winning two Emmy’s and resulted in another Emmy-winning HBO movie, ‘Game Change‘. Roach may have moved away from the election debacle, but a new partner of his is still rather close to it.

Jana B. here,

The Brink

HBO, in a quick move, has given a series order to ‘The Brink‘. The comedy stars Jack Black (‘Tropic Thunder‘, ‘School of Rock‘) and Tim Robbins (‘The Shawshank Redemption‘ and ‘Mystic River‘), directed by Jay Roach (‘Meet The Parents‘, ‘Austin Powers‘) and executive produced by Jerry Weintraub (‘The Karate Kid’ franchise, ‘Oceans Eleven’ and the newly announced ‘Tarzan’). Now that we have the proven star power behind this project, we need talented writers to bring it to fruition. Roberto Benabib and his brother Kim Benabib are penning the script. Roberto Benabib has shown a master handle on writing a dark comedy with his successful stint at writing for the show ‘Weeds‘ and ‘Ally McBeal‘.

We have a new weekly column here at Boomstick with our newest writer.  Sparky Shagwell is her name and she is the tortured step daughter of the Queen of England.  She spends most of her time watching re-runs of ‘Perfect Strangers’, eating chili with crumbled Oreos mixed in, and plotting her takeover of the Royal Family.  But in her spare time she loves the ABC Family hit series ‘Pretty Little Liars’.  She will be giving her expert opinion and review for each episode over the coming weeks.  Please give Sparky Shagwell a warm welcome and enjoy her hilarious coverage of ‘Pretty Little Liars’.  Enjoy.  We are happy to have her on board.
