Film Review: ‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones’!!

One of the first releases of 2014 is the next installment in the ‘Paranormal Activity‘ franchise, with ‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones‘. Don’t confuse this one as the fifth film in the franchise as this is more of an off-shoot of the film series, but exists in the same world as the previous films. This fright fest or lack there of has gone a different route and will cater to the latino audience more than the other films did, due to a dominant latino cast. Director Christopher Landon, who wrote the last three ‘Paranormal’ films takes this chapter in a different direction with tone and style. I have no doubt this small budget film will make its money back times ten.

Well, we’re not getting a ‘Paranormal Activity‘ movie this Halloween, but this coming up January, we are. We’ve reported before that Paramount is making more ‘Paranormal Activity‘ films plus some spinoff movies. If you saw the last one and stayed through the end credits, you saw a strange and haunting scene that seemed to take place in a Spanish market.

From the producer of ‘Get Out‘, ‘The Purge‘, and ‘The Visit‘ comes a ‘Happy Death Day’, a horror where each day ends the same as the one before, in death. Director Christopher Landon (‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones‘) has put together a cast anchored by Jessica Rothe (‘La La Land‘), also starring Israel Broussard (‘The Bling Ring‘), Ruby Modine (‘Shameless‘), Charles Aitken, and Jason Bayle.
