by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 7th, 2017

Hey guys, Jana here,

Oklahoma City‘ is a documentary about the tragic bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City in 1995. It comes from writer/director Barak Goodman (‘American Experience‘, ‘Frontline‘) and was nominated for an Emmy along with the other producers on the project, Emily Singer Chapman, Mark Samels (a previous winner of several Emmy’s and three times as many nominations), and Susan Bellows (also an Emmy winner and multiple time nominee). PBS aired the doc at the earlier part of 2017 but it made the festival circuits this summer and was an Official Selection for the 2017 Sundance Film Festival where it met positive reviews.

by Gumbercules9000 on May 27th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

juge-pierre-miche-la-french-jean-dujardin

You can mark another win for Drafthouse Films, the film company connected to The Alamo Drafthouse Theater chain. This past week  at the Cannes Film Festival, Drafthouse Films picked up a crime thriller called ‘La French‘ that stars Jean Dujardin and directed by Cedric Jimenez. And get this – Drafthouse bought the U.S. distribution rights after the people at Drafthouse watched an eight minute reel of the film. Not only that, but Jimenez was signed to one of the top talent agencies in Hollywoood, which is WME.

Hi, Bryan Here….

movies_main_the_toxic_avenger_poster

I never thought I’d write this sentence, but Arnold Schwarzenegger is currently in talks to star in the reboot of Troma’sToxic Avenger’ film. This project will be introduced to potential buys at Cannes this year of all places. I didn’t think Cannes would take any Troma film. But it looks like this re-imaging of ‘Toxic Avenger‘ will be a big budget project. Steve Pink is taking the reins of the film. Pink directed ‘Hot Tub Time Machine‘ and will direct the sequel. This is odd, but amazing news.

Neil Young: Journeys Blu-Ray (REVIEW)

by NapkinArt on Jan 5th, 2013

51iqgP9I1sL._SL500_AA300_Howdy Classic Rock fans, Napkin Art Here…

I have just one question: Who the f*ck doesn’t love Neil Young?

The ‘Grandaddy of Grunge’ has been on quite a roll over the last few years, musically and artistically, releasing several critically acclaimed albums, an autobiography (finally), not to mention releasing the long, long-awaited “Neil Young Archives: Volume 1” to the masses, proving again and again that ‘rust never sleeps.’ After all, Young is pretty old for a rock and roll star. However, his love for making music and shredding guitars on stage never ceases to wane, as is evident in his latest concert documentary film, “Journeys,” from Shakey Pictures and Sony Pictures Classics. Hi everyone, Bryan here…

It’s that time of the year again, where we induct musicians and singers into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Over the past few years, the term Rock & Roll is used loosely, because according to this list, some of these artists are not Rock & Roll at all. Still, this is the voting period and you can vote on who deserves to be inducted, which will air on HBO.

Amazon’s Prime Streaming Service just got a hell of a lot better.  It will be giving Netflix a run for its money.  EPIX signed a deal with Amazon that more than doubles Amazon’s streaming film catalogue.  This comes shortly after EPIX’s contract with Netflix expired.  Now films from Paramount, MGM, and Lionsgate will be available on Amazon’s Streaming service.  “We think customers will really enjoy watching new titles like The AvengersIron Man 2 and The Hunger Games on their Kindle Fire, PlayStation 3, Xbox, iPad or any of the other of the Amazon Instant Video compatible devices,” says Amazon VP Bill Carr. Hi Bryan Here….

WOW.  This was a mighty mighty fun blu-ray set to get through.  Took a while as there are hours and hours of extras and commentaries to listen and watch.  It was great watching all of these again.  Some greater than others.  I haven’t watched all of the Superman films since that tin DVD box set came out several years ago.  Oh man do these newly remastered blu-rays look fucking beautiful in HI-DEF.  So, this particular review will be set up by film.  I will go through all eight discs of the set and outline everything you would ever want to know about them.  From the movie itself to the extras and the audio and video quality.  This is one hell of a set and Warner Bros. and DC went above and beyond the call of making one AWESOME home video release in Superman.

Hi Bryan Here….

Today was Apple’s WWDC 2011 conference and convention.  Steve Jobs took to the stage at noon central time and talked about three new products from Apple.  All of which were software.  No new hardware was mentioned today at the conference.  But what was talked about and unveiled was the new OSX Lion which is the new operating system for Apple computers.  The previous version was Snow Leopard.  Also the new iOS5 which is basically the new operating system for Apple’s mobile devices.  And the much anticipated iCloud program which basically will replace Apple’s less than thrilling Mobile-Me service.
