Scooby Doo and Batman are coming to Blu-ray Together!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 7th, 2017

I’m gonna go ahead and say it. There won’t be a better film than this all year. On January 9th, 2018, Warner Bros. is releasing ‘Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave and the Bold‘ on Digital Streaming. How can Warner Bros. team up this duo? Well, the villains of the Batman universe have partnered up with the villains of the Scooby Doo universe to terrorize the city. Batman then decides to join the other detective agency of Mystery Inc with Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, and Velma to fight crime. There are so many scenarios I want to see played out here. I want to see Batman slap Fred. I want to see Velma and Daphne fight over Batman. I want to see Shaggy try to unmask Batman. I want to see Scooby wear a Bat-Dog costume. I want the Joker and Ghost Clown to torture civilians. I don’t think this is asking for too much.

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

THE FILM

It’s a damn shame that every action movie can’t be as good as ‘Mad Max: Fury Road‘. So many action films will try, but will ultimately fail for a variety of reasons. Pure action filmmaking and movies just don’t get better than this movie. ‘Fury Road‘ is a troubled story to say the least. Original creator George Miller who made the original three ‘Mad Max‘ films had the idea for this fourth installment back in 1998. That’s 17-years ago. This project wasn’t necessarily put on a hold shelf, but a few things had happened to delay the film from being made. From 9-11 to foreign policy, to Mel Gibson’s infamous arrest, there were a variety of things that prevented this movie from seeing the light of day.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ (3D Version)!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 24th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

91thcgvpwEL._SL1500_

This is more or less the same exact review as the 2D version of the film, which you can see here. The only difference here is there is an extra disc that sports the 3D version of the film. All of the extras, subtitles, audio presentations, and film itself are the exact same. And no, there is unfortunately not the fabled B&W version of the film here or on the 2D version. Maybe someday in the future we’ll get that, but if you want to read about the 3D presentation, skip down to the “VIDEO/AUDIO” section. Thank you and YES, this is a MUST-OWN!

Blu-ray Review: ‘Goodfellas’ 25th Anniversary!

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

THE FILM

By the time 1990 came around, Martin Scorsese had already made several masterpieces in film, which continue to be praised and talked about to this day. With the likes of ‘Raging Bull‘, ‘Taxi Driver‘, and ‘The Last Waltz‘, we all knew that Scorsese was one of the finest filmmakers and storytellers around. Even with just those three previous films mentioned, you’d know you were in for a treat when Scorsese wanted to show you something. Blu-ray Review: ‘Muppets Most Wanted’!!

It’s very difficult to find a sequel that’s as good as the original. There aren’t a lot out there that are great sequels, but when they do come along, they are remembered forever. by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 13th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Good news, everyone. Anchor Bay Entertainment and Scream Factory have finally partnered up to give us horror fans something we have wanted for far too long. Not one but two different Blu-Ray box sets that spans all of the ‘Halloween‘ films. There will be tons of new bonus features, every film in high-definition, collectible packaging, and a 40-page Booklet. You can expect this amazing set in time for Halloween season, specifically on September 23rd. It’s about time they did this, because Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street already have box sets. Glad to see ‘Halloween‘ is catching up with everyone else. Now if we can just get that ‘Phantasm‘ box set to release in the US instead of the UK, all will be well. And today, they have unveiled the amazing Box Art it comes in. This is Fantastic. I Can’t wait. And you can pre-order the set now for 30% off.

Jana’s Best of 2017!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 1st, 2018

Hey guys, Jana here,

I know these “Best of 2017” lists should technically be published in 2017, but why would I start 2018 any differently than I lived the majority of my adult life: Procrastinating and underachieving. What can I say? That’s my wheelhouse.

For a year that put a spotlight on some of the shittiest behavior by some of the Hollywood elite, it was actually a good year for TV and movies. I didn’t limit myself in number because as I moved on with the brackets, I felt like I was making ‘Sophie’s Choice‘ on some of these, so they’re all getting in! I’m feeling my inner-Oprah here, You’ve made the list! You made the list! EVERYBODY made the list!! In order to spare myself any arguments, I’m stating up front that my picks for the “Best of 2017” are not edited in regards to scandal or hideous human behavior.

Film Review: ‘Rebel in the Rye’!!

by Janet White on Oct 14th, 2017

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

The Catcher in the Rye took the U.S. by storm nearly from its initial printing. The author, J.D. Salinger, transformed from obscurity to magnified limelight causing him to retract from the world. The more the public wanted to know him or be his infamous character, Holden Caulfield, the more withdrawn Salinger became which increased the mystery. In the past 66 years, the novel has been printed, re-printed, translated and massively distributed throughout the world. Schools have both required and banned the reading for reasons of profanity and its message. Rebel in the Rye details Salinger’s (Nicholas Hoult) life and progression as a writer. From his early years as a willful, smart mouth to an obsessed literary giant. Read the rest of this entry »

Good news and bad news, folks. The good news is that Fox is releasing two amazing TV Shows for their Anniversary  on September 19th, being Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly from Joss Whedon. There will be new packaging and collectibles with each set. The bad news is that there still isn’t and won’t be a Blu-ray or high definition version of Buffy, which just sucks and drives a stake right through my heart. This show looks terrible and is in badly need of an HD upgrade.

Top 10 Ryan Gosling Scenes in Movies!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 17th, 2017

Audrey E., here….

Screen Shot 2017-03-17 at 9.59.40 AM

Ryan Gosling is a true patron for the arts. Proof of this can not only be found in his selective partaking in films with telling characters, but also in his accomplished side projects. There’s his under-appreciated dark wave and gothic indie band, Dead Man’s Bones, and we can’t forget his courageous 2014 directorial debut in the fantasy drama, Lost River. He’s come a long way from his humble beginnings as a Mouseketeer on The All New Mickey Mouse Club, and despite the pressure from Hollywood to keep up appearances, Ryan concentrates on staying true to himself and what matters most: his art. Today I’ve put together a list of my Top 10 favorite Ryan Gosling performances in film and why this talented Canadian, a true 21st century James Dean, is more than meets the eye.

DVD Review: ‘Shelby: A Magical Holiday Tail’!

by Janet White on Nov 4th, 2015

Hi Everyone, Janet W. here…

Shelby DVD

The film is so bright, you gotta wear SHADES.

Shelby is a cute little dog movie, and Shelby (Rob Schneider) is, cute. It is never explained how the puppy repeatedly escapes from the pound, and that’s half the battle so it was a little disappointing. A button is pushed, (surely by the dogcatcher (Tom Arnold)) and next thing you know a dog is running in the streets. This doesn’t make sense unless the dogcatcher wants a regular exercise regime to break the monotony of small town life (as is perceived from the film). During one of Shelby’s escapes, he runs into the Parker family (or is hit by Ed Parker (Jefferson Brown)) who are going to show us what Christmas is all about or at least try. Film Review: ‘The Longest Ride’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 10th, 2015

Janet W., Here…

home-page-feature-image-front-main-stage-2

Real love is seldom portrayed in film.  Two people meet, they fall in love and would do anything for each other.  Love is not flowers day in and day out.  Love is as much about sacrifice as it is about fulfillment.  Love worth having must be earned, pursued, and above all respected.  Not since The Fault in Our Stars had I witnessed such a true example of love.  Not without flaw, but the closest of late, is The Longest Ride.  This film does “real love” justice.

In the land of remakes, there is one bright spot that hasn’t been touched, yet. Yet is the key word in that sentence. The iconic film ‘The Crow‘, Brandon Lee cemented his popularity with his portrayal of Eric Draven, the tragic hero of a dark film that, at it’s heart, is a vigilante tale. Director Corin Hardy (‘The Hallow‘) is planning to remake the film, which has a loyal cult following, and he has already cast his Eric.

Fairytales are always fodder for reinterpretation and expansion in movies. Sometimes they fall flat and sometimes they add to the beloved story we knew as children. Jonathan Levine’s adaptation of Isaac Marion’sWarm Bodies‘ focuses more on an undead romance than any political or social issues, with having just enough blood and guts for genre fans.  I have to say that this zombie flick ranks right up there with some of the best living dead films ever made.  It’s original, fresh, and has an amazing soundtrack.  I have no doubt that this lovable zombie movie will make tons of money at the box office.
