It’s the most wonderful time of the year. No, it’s not Christmas, but rather movie-lover Christmas, because the best film festival of all time – FANTASTIC FEST is up on us. We have the first wave of programming to get you all excited and up in arms about attending this year. If you love films more than life itself, then FANTASTIC FEST is the festival for you. It has everything you could possible want, including horror, sci-fi, action, foreign, documentary, and even adult movies. I’m looking at you X-Rated Supermarket. Film Review: ‘Ouija: Origin of Evil’!

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

 

It’s Halloween season and the big horror movie studio Blumhouse has released another film in their canon franchise with their famous business plan. That movie is ‘Ouija: Origin of Evil‘, which is a prequel to ‘Ouija‘ from 2014. I know. I get suspicious too when a studio wants to start telling prequel stories to the masses. Most of the time, they don’t work, but Blumhouse and filmmaker Mike Flanagan (Oculus) really raised the bar with this prequel that is terrifying, fun, and connects the original film nicely, despite some silly problems here and there.

In the land of Hollywood, we’re looking yet another reboot. It seems like the time frame between original showing and remake keeps getting smaller and smaller. Up on the chopping block this time is ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’. Sony has reached out to ‘Oculus‘ director Mike Flanagan for the reboot.

The upcoming 11th edition of the Dallas International Film Festival, or DIFF, opens March 30 and runs through April 9 for 2017. The festival will celebrate the year of 1967 with a salute to films from that year and we’ve got the full schedule here.
